Lovense Gush 2 Review

App-controlled, hands-free pleasure for a penis? It sounds like a pipedream, but it’s a real sex toy! Read this Lovense Gush 2 review to see if it lives up to the marketing hype.

Residing in the category of penis vibrators, the Lovense Gush 2 partners targeted oscillations and shaft vibrations for penis pleasure. If your body can orgasm without stroking movements, you’re going to love the Gush. The Gush 2 is especially crafted to stay in one place as the oscillations and vibrations do all the “work”.

To make that happen, the Lovense Gush 2 offers two distinct pleasure spots: the circular spot you see on the Gush puts out pulsing/tapping/oscillating sensations. Through the rest of the toy’s ribbed area, the Gush 2 is equipped with vibrations.

Fully made from silicone, the thickest portion of the penis vibrator is rigid and unmoving. The thinner “wings”, however, are very flexible and wiggly, and they allow you to slide your shaft into the chamber of the toy whether you’re flaccid or erect.

These flexible “wings” (and the ability to access the chamber regardless of size) makes the Gush 2 work for most penis lengths and widths. The inner chambers’ base diameter is 1.3″. If your shaft is noticeably thicker (in diameter!) than 1.3″ where you want to use the toy, you might find that it hugs a bit too firmly on your shaft. For most, however, this 1.3″ width is actually going to be a bit bigger than you need.

If desired, the Lovense Gush 2 also comes with two adjustable silicone loops. Wrapping (and securing these loops tightly) around the circumference of the Gush 2 holds the toy, hands-free, snugly, around the shaft, making it work for most penis widths.

Designed to put those powerful oscillations near the sensitive head, the Gush 2 will not be a full-shaft toy for many. It covers about 4″ of your shaft, wherever you choose to use it.

Free of wires (though it is still a bit of a hefty toy!), this vibe is rechargeable and waterproof. It has a use time of slightly under 2 hours for longer play sessions.

The Lovense Gush 2 is also Bluetooth compatible. We’ll talk more about its app-enabled features later, but this allows you to control the Gush 2 via the manual button on its tip or through your cell phone.

Does the Lovense Gush 2 Work Soft?

Like many of the “guybrators” out there, the Lovense Gush 2 works with a flaccid shaft as well. The flexible wings and “open chamber” design allow you to squish anything, as wiggly as it is, up against the surface of the toy.

That being said, the “hands-free” aspect of the Gush 2 doesn’t work with a flaccid shaft. While you can close the included bands tightly enough to get a light squeeze on a flaccid shaft, your shaft simply is too wiggly to “stay” where you put it, and you’ll end up sliding out of the vibrator.

If you want to use the Lovense Gush 2 on a softie, it’s a double-handed experience. One hand holds the Gush 2 while the other hand will squish your flaccid shaft onto the surface of the Gush 2.

(This also makes the Lovense Gush 2 a great fit for smaller shaft sizes as well. If you’re especially short, you can “flip” the Gush 2 upside down, placing the frenulum directly on top of the extra-pleasurable osillation zone without going through the rest of the toy’s length. This lets you tap directly into the strongest sensations without worrying about length.)

When we’ve used this penis vibrator as foreplay during our Lovense Gush 2 review period, and he starts soft, we’ve found that the Gush 2 eventually brings him to an erection, allowing us to use it hands-free if we want.

Sometimes, when his body isn’t cooperating though, he just stays flaccid the entire time. This is especially true if we’ve been playing with cocktail service or he already came today. When that happens, with pressure from his free hand pressing the frenulum into the oscillating circle, he’s still able to orgasm again while soft. The oscillating circle and the vibrations come together for orgasms even without an erection.

Using the Lovense Gush 2 on an Erection

The Gush 2 works seamlessly on an erection. While it does pleasure a flaccid shaft just fine, the design is clearly crafted for a hard shaft. When erect, the flexible “wings” wrap snugly around the shaft, helping hold it in place, hands-free (see the photo below).

If you meet Lovense’s ideal width for the toy, your shaft will also “fill up” the interior of the Gush 2, automatically pressing your frenulum into the toy’s oscillation area. (If you’re narrower than the toy is designed for, you can still have that experience; you’ll just want to use the hands-free tightening bands to squeeze the toy around your shaft.)

If you’re erect while using the Gush 2, you can also add extra lube and use it as a stroker. The ribbed interior offers some sensation if you want to slide the toy up and down the shaft. Attempting that with a flaccid shaft is impossible to wrangle, but it’s easy with a firm shaft.

Hands-Free Use?

Everybody wants to use sex toys without using their hands. It’s the best case scenario. You get a ton of pleasure while simultaneously leaving your hands available to do anything else you want to do.

The Lovense Gush 2 offers a hands-free option via an included, adjustable tightness strap.

This is, essentially, an adapted version of what some penis owners have been doing for years now: if you have a toy that fits snugly onto the shaft, you can wrap a hair tie around the toy to help it stay in place without using your hands. Only Lovense turned that hairtie into an adjustable, cleanable, non-slip material that perfectly color matches your Gush vibrator.

After you’ve slid your shaft onto the Gush 2, you open up this adjustable strap and wrap it around the full circumference of the Gush. You pull the strap snug, and you refasten the strap, causing it to “hug” the Gush 2 around you.

Once the Gush 2 is hugged on you, your hands should be free to roam.

There are a few limitations to this:

• You’ll need to be hard. You can technically wrap the band pretty darn tightly, but if you’re fully flaccid, the penis tends to slide itself out of the Gush 2 over time. While testing things for this Lovense Gush 2 review, we’ve found that we need at least a partial erection to make it hands-free.
• You really can’t move around. The Gush 2 is a heavy boi. Well, it’s not “heavy”-heavy, but it’s heavy enough that you’re not just casually walking around your apartment, naked, with this thing strapped to your shaft. If you need to take a pee break or grab a snack mid-play, you’ll probably want to unfasten the Gush 2 then refasten it.
• It works best while lying on your back. Any position that allows the hands-free function to work with gravity tends to work best. Lying down, allowing your shaft and the Gush 2 to lean on your tummy, works better than trying to use this while standing or lying on your side.
• Lube reapplications may be necessary. If you’re using the Gush 2 for marathon sessions, your shaft may get a little softer or a little harder as the swell of play changes. If the toy’s lube dries up, this can cause the silicone to feel a bit “grippy” on the shaft and has some uncomfortable “pulls” as the shaft’s length and width change. You may need to reapply lube for long jerk off sessions, but be careful not to apply too much. Too much lube can make the Gush 2 slide off the shaft with hands-free use.

This all being said, this new adjustable strap (versus the Gush 1’s set width strap) makes for a better fit. We’ve found it much easier to get the Gush’s tightness to best match the state that his shaft is at any given moment.

Lovense Gush 2 Review: Let’s Talk Pleasure

Oh, the Lovense Gush 2 offers so much pleasure. We’re even more enamoured with it than the Gush 1. The oscillating circle offers more of a deep, thumping pulsing on a super-sensitive area of the shaft, and it’s extremely effective. He’s had multiple unexpected premature orgasms before we quite got a handle on how intense that spot could be.

Now that we have, we play a bit more carefully if we’re using the Gush 2 for edging; it’s extremely effective.

He says it compares to the Magic Wand in terms of effective power, but the actual sensations themselves are different. Whereas he says a Magic Wand makes his entire shaft feel fully vibrated, he says the Gush 2 feels so much more targeted. He feels the “power” level of the Magic Wand with the oscillations at his frenulum while the rest of the shaft feels like pleasurable, assistant-level vibrations.

In our time testing for this Lovense Gush 2 review, he’s actually come to really prefer the Gush 2 over a wand massager. The intensity and unescapable size of a wand massager can eventually make his skin feel overstimulated. The Gush 2’s smaller, targeted area really reduces how quickly that happens while simultaneously offering the same level of “wow, it’s easy to cum with this”.

We get the best sensation when using hands. It still feels great hands-free, but actively pressing the shaft (whether flaccid or erect, as long as the hands are pushing the shaft) into the oscillating circle feels the best. It helps get every ounce of those oscillations exactly where you want them.

The Noise

The Lovense Gush 2 is not a quiet vibrator, but it’s not a loud one either.

It’s a bit quieter than your average wand massager, but it’s louder than most of my clitoral vibrators.

This is partially because of the intensity of the vibration. My stronger vibrators happen to be louder. Turns out, making something shake violently has more “noise” than something that purrs.

That oscillation also adds to the noise level, too. The oscillating circular area doesn’t just vibrate; a small little bead pulses in and out, offering a movement you can actually see. That movement, though, comes with more noise as a piece of the sex toy is literally moving.

The Gush 2 can definitely be heard in the same room. If you live with other people, though, you can get away with using it on the softer settings as long as you have music or constant noise playing in the same room.

The strongest settings of the Gush 2 definitely have a strong “hum” to them. It isn’t necessarily distracting to your pleasure, but it is loud enough to be heard through a closed door in a quiet house. (If noise levels are important to you, the Max 2 is MUCH louder while the Edge 2 is noticeably quieter.)

Lovense Gush 2 Review: Online Control

Like all Lovense toys, the Gush 2 is equipped with a Bluetooth receiver. This Bluetooth receiver means that the Gush 2 is controllable via free cell phone app.

Like I’ve gushed (hehe) about in my Edge 2 review and Lush comparison, the Lovense app is, by far, the most comprehensive and most reliable cell phone app I’ve found for sex toys.

That’s the case with the Gush 2 as well. It responds in seconds, and it always does what I ask it to do.

This app control is really the Gush 2’s big selling point. Combined with the hands-free design of the Gush 2, this cell phone control can make for hands-free pleasure while chatting with someone online, watching adult videos, playing kinky games, or even listening to an erotic audio book.

This penis vibrator is solid enough on its own, but all of its design really shines when paired up with all of these ways to mentally immerse yourself in lewd ideas while the sex toy provides the physical pleasure to go alongside of it.

I will say: since my last review (the Lovense Lush Mini), the Lovense app has gotten a lot more…complicated. On the bright side, there are a LOT more ways to play. However, there are so many different ways to control the Gush 2 that it’s honestly overwhelming at first.

If you want the quick, basic options (like drag-and-drop finger control, letting someone you know control your toy, or vibrating the Gush 2 to a pattern), it’s pretty easy to find. Past that, there are so many new features since the last time I’ve reviewed a Lovense toy that I’m wondering what this app can’t do. Like I said, though, their control systems are comprehensive. This app is fully-featured – more so than any other sex toy app on the market.

From what I can find, your Gush 2 can (for free):

• Be controlled, locally, by your cell phone, via an interface that has drag-and-drop finger drag control.
• Be controlled, locally, alongside other Lovense sex toys. If you want to pair your Domi and your Spinel, you can control the intensity of both at the same time with a single finger.
• Synchronize the Gush 2 to match the movement or depth intensity of another Lovense toy. The faster or deeper the other toy is used, the more intensely the Gush 2 will vibrate.
• Friend another user of the Lovense app into your app, and control each other’s toys. The integrated app allows for conversation, voice notes, photos, and videos to all be sent while simultaneously controlling each other’s toys. The conversation app is definitely designed for sexting.
• Follow pre-set vibration patterns that you’ve made. You can make public Playlists of custom patterns (if desired) or just make a single just-for-you pattern for it to vibrate to.
• Generate a link that automatically leads to controlling your sex toy. Provide this link to anyone else online for them to use. The link only lasts for a single session.
• Use their “Control Roulette”, and put your name into their matching system. You’ll be matched anonymously with another user to control one another’s devices. I assume this feature works a lot better for women and/or for anyone willing to share personal photos or videos at the same time. You can specifically note if you want lewd chat or voice messaging or not and also filter by other parameters.
• View “Personals Ads” by other people who are live and online now, wanting to play with someone. Click on their ad to connect and see if you want to control one another.
• Do various tasks that involve daily log-ins and daily play with Lovense features to earn “points” that can be redeemed for various digital decor for your profile.
• Play a Bejeweled-esque game while it synchronizes to your toy, offering vibrations with matches.
• Use “Speed Mode” which increases the Gush 2’s vibration intensity based on how fast the speedometer on your phone is going. Presumably, this is designed for people who want to wear it during sports (like bicycling) or as passengers in a vehicle.
• Use “Beat Sync” which vibrates in sync with the ambient noise that your phone picks up. Great for if a lover is dirty talking near you, you want to wear publically in a club, or an external speaker is playing porn or dirty audiobooks that you want to sync the sex toy to.
• A full “App Gallery” of a TON of different games. How the toy interacts with these games is unique to each game, but you can essentially play Tetris, do Sudokus, play card matching games, join large groups of people all vibrating to the same pattern at the same time, play Ludo, play “generic” versions of things like Flappy Bird or Fruit Ninja, and more. While you play, your toy will vibrate to various functions in the game for an interactive experience. (Note: Most of these games do not have a sexual slant to them. They’re, quite literally, just family-friendly versions of games. I’m not necessarily sure why you’d want to get ready to masturbate and then play Tetris with a sex toy, buuuut it’s here if that’s your jam.)
• Read diaries and other public journal entries from other people on the Lovense app with the ability to comment on them. (It looks like this is a lot of people use this area for trying to find friends or looking for someone to control their toy. Lots of ranting about people’s bad behavior while using other functions on the Lovense app as well.)
• The “Music” mode which allows your app to synchronize to your music apps or locally-saved music, vibrating to the beat of the music.
• A “Dynamic Mode” (which I don’t know what it does since it bricks my phone every time I open it.)
• A “Kegel Training Mode” which is designed for vagina owners (a really unfortunate easy miss as kegels are for all genders) that seems to have some sort of vibration component in it. The Gush 2 did not respond to any part of it (again, unfortunate miss).
• The “Game Mode” which allows third party games to synchronize and connect to the Lovense toy (like Wicked Whims or other sex game creators).
• The “Alarm” mode which allows you to set an alarm, and the Gush 2 will vibrate when that alarm time hits.
• The “Interactive Videos” mode which loads YouTube and allows you to sync the vibrations of the Gush 2 to videos on YouTube. It’s an odd selection of videos because it, essentially, is suggesting that you masturbate to the videos that it recommends. There are lots of music videos from mainstream artists, some piano covers of music, and some choreography dance videos.

Lovense Gush 2 Review: Public Play

Can the Lovense Gush 2 be used in public as a remote control sex toy for men?

It’s a strong “probably not”. For this Lovense Gush 2 review, we’ve given it a couple of tries, and we’ve come back with a few things:

• The toy is pretty heavy. While it “technically” can stay fastened onto the penis pretty nicely with help of that band, it’s just a heavy bugger once it’s there.
• With the help of really snug undies (or adult diapers, if that’s your kink), the Gush 2 doesn’t slide off. It does require something holding it up though, or else…
• It either hurts or slides off. If you add enough lube to reduce friction, the Gush 2 tends to slide off. If you don’t add a ton of lube, with the natural changes in firmness to an erection over an hour or so, the silicone will eventually start pulling uncomfortably against skin. The only way to really “combat” this is to ensure that you can use a good chunk of lube AND have something external (like undies) holding the Gush 2 up against the body.
• Finally, the Gush 2 is big. It’s not “big” compared to other sex toys, but it’s big for a public play sex toy. Underneath clothing, it makes a larger bulge than a chastity cage. When we’ve tried taking this out for our Lovense Gush 2 review trials, we quickly figured out that he needs to wear a sweatshirt or long coat that can cover the crotch area. It makes a noticeable bulge – especially when paired with an erection – that stands out in most jeans.
• It’s just also decently loud. You could use it in a bar where near-screaming is the norm to talk to other people, but if you tried to use this in a restaurant, the “brrrrrrr” coming from the bulge in your pants would be a dead giveaway.

If you have a relatively private space, it’s the winter-y months (to explain the coats), you’re in a very loud place, and you find that your undies have enough strength to hold up the Gush 2, though, it can be used for public play.

It will take some trial and error to figure out how you can make it work for public play for your body and location, specifically, though. This isn’t going to be a quick toy you can grab last-minute for any type of play outside the house. Plan accordingly.

Lovense Gush 2 vs Lovense Gush 1

Taking the “good design” they already had, the Gush 2 simply upgrades it. The biggest upgrade:

• Additional oscillation motor. In addition to the standard vibrations that the Gush 1 offered, the Gush 2 also adds oscillations (focused around the circular area you can see in the silicone).
• Adjustable hands-free strap. The Gush 1 strap was a lightly-stretchy silicone loop. This new hands-free strap isn’t very stretchy, but instead, is adjustable, allowing you to tighten or loosen the strap to best fit the exact “squeeze” you want from the Gush.

The Gush 2 also has some smaller changes (some you may not even notice):

• The Gush 2 is slightly longer. To cover more shaft space, the Gush 2 is about 0.75″ longer.
• It’s now heavier. Because of that additional oscillation motor and longer silicone body, the Gush 2 is noticeably heavier.
• The wings are now made from a softer, more flexible silicone. This helps fit a wider range of shafts without squeezing too tightly – though the semi-circular, non-flexible area of the Gush remains about the same between the versions.
• The single, manual control button has been moved. It’s now near the bottom of the Gush 2.
• For visual lovers, the Gush 2’s plastic panel now has gradient coloring. It’s definitely prettier but serves no practical additional to the sensations.
• For app control, the Gush 2 allows you to control two different motors now: on the app, you can control the vibration intensity and the oscillation intensity separately.
• It has a higher-capacity battery. This helps support the oscillation. In practice, the sex toy battery life is slightly higher, but in practical use, this won’t make much of a difference.

The basic design and vibration motor remains the same. Nothing was changed about the Bluetooth receiver or transmitter design. It’s still waterproof and magnetically rechargeable with a charge time of about an hour and a half. It’s still app-control compatible and still has a single button the Gush 2 itself that can manually control the vibrations as well. If you’re controlling either Gush manually via the single button on it, that button allows you to cycle through 3 steady vibration intensities and 4 vibration patterns. The rest of the functionality is “unlocked” if you use the app.

One of the previous complaints about the Lovense Gush 1 was its fixed width. The Lovense Gush 2 still maintains that fixed width. The “base” area where the wings connect is now made from a more flexible silicone than the Gush 1, but the Gush 2 still only offers about 1.5″ in width before running out into the “wings” area. This is an extremely comfortable fit for us. The Gush 1 was too. If your shaft is wider in diameter than 1.8″, though, you might find the Gush 2 to be a snug squeeze.

Should I Upgrade to the Lovense Gush 2?

Should you upgrade to the Lovense Gush 2 if you already have the 1? I’d say it depends:

• If you want more pleasure from the Gush 1, the Gush 2 might be a worthy upgrade. The new oscillation area feels deeper, thumpy-ier, and more intense compared to the Gush 1. This makes even more of an impact if you leave the Gush in one spot. The Gush 2 drastically increases the pleasure when you have it in the right spot.
• If you liked the Gush 1’s sensations but found the “hands-free” band to be the wrong size, the new, adjustable sizing on the new Gush 2 bands fix that. They can go tighter or looser.
• If you liked the sensation on the Gush 1 but didn’t think it covered enough of your shaft, the Gush 2 is slightly longer.
• If you already thought the Gush 1 was too heavy, the Gush 2 gets even heavier with the added oscillation motor and longer length. It’s probably not worth the new version for you.
• If you primarily stroke the Gush 1 up and down while enjoying its vibrations, the changes on the 2 may not mean as much to you. The oscillation area is a stronger, deeper sensation, but it feels best when left on the most-sensitive spot on the shaft. If you’re always going up and down, you also may not care about the change in the hands-free band.

The new Gush 2’s big claims to fame are the additional oscillation motor and the adjustable hands-free band. It has other smaller changes, but those are the two big add-ons.
