Bondage in saran wrap or bondage in cling wrap: whatever you want to call it, bondage with this simple method has exploded in popularity lately. A quick look at porn and Twitter sites can show exactly how popular this bondage method has become. Not only does it allow a simple and quick way to restrain your partner, but it’s easy to get ahold of and easy to use. Whether you’re planning a scene with escorts & babes or just want to try this with your partner, that saran wrap in the kitchen is about to look a whole lot more kinky!

Ready to experience plastic wrap bondage for yourself? If you’re hoping to receive cling wrap bondage or do it to your partner, here are some answers to frequently asked questions.

Why Would I Want to Do This?

There are lots of reasons you’d want to do saran wrap bondage instead of any other form of bondage like some shown at the School of Squirt. The most noticeable one is that you want to enjoy bondage without lots of practice beforehand. Saran wrap bondage is extremely simple for anyone to get into – you don’t need to learn knots, and since it doesn’t easily press on nerves or joints with pinpoint pressure, it’s a little more forgiving for beginners.

Saran wrap bondage is also something that can be done by virtually anyone regardless of how much discretion they need. If you have access to a grocery store, you can purchase what you need without suspicion. You don’t need to get cuffs or rope or visit an adult store, and if anyone sees a box of saran wrap in your home, it’s totally normal.

Unlike other types of restraints, saran wrap is also pretty absolute. If an arm is restrained with cuffs, you can still move the elbows and arms themselves; the wrist is just tethered at one point. With cling wrap bondage, you can turn most forms of bondage into a type of mummification. The arms and limbs will stay exactly where you put them as long as you do enough wraps with your saran wrap.

Plastic wrap bondage also has a lower upfront cost than most forms of bondage. A box of plastic wrap will set you back about $5. Hanks of rope are $40, good bondage cuffs are in the $80s, and very-basic beginner cuffs are still in the $20 range. While you’ll see savings in investing in reusable forms of bondage eventually, the start-up cost for plastic wrap bondage is a lot lower than other forms of bondage.

Cling wrap bondage is also designed for destruction. If you have a knife kink or ripped clothing kink, cling wrap bondage plays in perfectly. This also allows for BDSM scene changes on the fly. Did you wrap an area in saran wrap that you want to touch now? Simply use your skin-safe shears and cut it out without disrupting any other part of the bondage!

Unlike most types of restraints, when done right, saran wrap bondage also offers diffused sensations. Especially for bodies in chronic pain or people who have long-term injuries that may find pressure in a small area uncomfortable, the spread-out design of plastic wrap bondage ensures that the compression is spread out over a larger area. This can be more comfortable for a lot of people.

As a final bonus, some people really love that plastic wrap bondage is partially see-through. After you wrap your partner’s genitals or body, you’ll still be able to see everything.

Why Wouldn’t I Want to Do Saran Wrap Bondage?

Saran wrap bondage may not be your BDSM option of choice – and that’s okay.

For environmentalists, every bit of saran wrap goes straight into the garbage. (There’s more about potential recycling options, though, below.)

Replacing your plastic wrap bondage, over and over, can also add up in cost as well (as opposed to something reusable like rope or cuffs).

Saran wrap bondage can also take a whole lot longer than simply snapping a pair of cuffs onto someone. If you’re in a hurry or expect you may need to put away your bondage in a hurry, saran wrap bondage is probably not a good fit.

Since cling wrap traps heat, bottoms who are sensitive to overheating may find this a bad fit. Expect to cut off any saran wrap to find pools of sweat anywhere you used it.

Especially if someone is freshly shaved or waxed, I’d probably choose another form of bondage for the day. The trapped heat and friction of cling wrap bondage can be a recipe for breakouts and ingrown hairs on those areas.

Bottoms who may need quick breaks throughout the scene (to use the restroom, take out a pet, etc.) before returning to the scene may also not enjoy this type of bondage. Since you have to destroy the cling wrap to let the person take a quick break, this could get expensive and time consuming quickly. Other forms of bondage, like cuffs that can be unfastened and refastened, would probably be a better fit.

Who Shouldn’t Do Saran Wrap Bondage?

Saran wrap bondage can be practiced by most people without a problem.

However, like any other BDSM activity, you should go through a thorough negotiation before attempting something like this. Because of the finality and difficulty in escaping this type of bondage, it should ONLY be attempted with someone you trust.

Do not try this with strangers or play partners you’ve never played with. If you must do so, limit it to torso bondage and leave the hands and legs free in case of an emergency.

People who are claustrophobic or terrified of being unable to move may also not do well with saran wrap bondage.

If a person has circulation or body heating issues, you may want to limit the amount and expanse of saran wrap bondage that you perform. Sarah wrap bondage traps heat within the body really, really effectively – and most people will be pretty sweaty and hot-to-touch after saran wrap scenes. If your potential bound partner suffers any negative consequences from being too warm, this is probably not a good fit for them.

What Safety Things Do I Need to Know?

While the deaths or injuries from cling wrap bondage are pretty low, it has happened (due to drug use and bad judgment in that particular case). The most important thing to know about saran wrap bondage, like in most types of bondage, is that you DO NOT leave the bound person alone. Period. You don’t go to work for 8 hours. You don’t out on a girl’s/boy’s night. With some common sense, you can usually leave the room to pee or grab a snack as long as you hurry, but the safest option is to always be available in the room – especially if your bound person is new to saran wrap bondage. You never know how someone will react to something – even something they thought they’d love.

DO NOT SARAN WRAP THE FACE. This should not need to be stated, but I get some weird questions sometimes. Most things below the neck are fair game, but everything above the neck is entirely off limits. Nothing with the neck – ever. Plan your shoulder wraps ahead of time if you plan on changing tension during the scene; remember that saran wrap DOES move – especially against a slick body. With tension and tugging, it’s possible for saran wrap to slide up the shoulders and around the neck. Avoid it at all costs.

The safety shears should be kept around in case of an emergency; regular scissors could easily cut or harm your partner, but the blunt end of safety shears are specifically designed to be safe to skin while cutting off things. If you’re short on money, do NOT skimp on the safety shears! Buy them from a mainstream website (as they’re a medical device) instead of a kink website to save money instead.

Like all forms of bondage, you need to “think ahead” for what you plan to do. If you know that you’ll be using saran wrap bondage for legs on your partner, you need to plan ahead for their safety. Wrapping the legs together will make keeping their balance standing up difficult – and if you wrap their arms together, they’ll be unable to catch themselves if they do fall. Plan ahead to ensure that your bound partner’s risk of tripping or falling is a bare minimum. Doing your bondage on the bed – or attaching your partner securely to a stable overhead bondage point (as you learn what you’re doing) are generally the safest ways to alleviate this.

While doing saran wrap bondage is fun, don’t do it for too long. The sweating and the heat can dehydrate the body pretty quickly, so don’t spend hours upon hours in your bondage set-up. Remember to use common sense. Help your partner enjoy some water and rehydrate afterwards; keep liquid intake at normal levels ahead of time since saran wrap bondage isn’t something you can easily “take off and put back on” for bathroom breaks like other types of bondage.

Keep blankets on-hand. The receiver’s body is going to get very warm inside your saran wrap bondage – even if the person is naked. (Think of it as a kinky blanket burrito) The air is going to feel extremely frigid after they’re out of their cocoon, so a couple of layers of blankets can be very helpful.

How Much Do I Need for Plastic Film Bondage?

You’ll go through a decent amount of cling wrap for bondage, but it depends on what you want to do. Full-body mummifications can easily go through 4 or 5 200ft rolls of cling wrap. That’s about $9-16 worth of wrap depending on your local store prices. However, if you’re looking to experiment more with smaller areas, you can get away with a roll or two to just wrap limbs.

You can purchase decently-sized boxes of cling wrap at your local store; you may even want to check the dollar store as the brand name doesn’t matter for plastic film bondage. Comparing square footage within the box is the best way to do cost comparisons for saran wrap bondage purchases.

Some people prefer to purchase the “pallet-sized” cling wrap that’s designed for industrial use to wrap up pallets. This will be more expensive, but it also covers much larger areas. On the flip side, it’s also much, much harder to handle.

However, for beginners, starting with the cheaper and smaller cling wrap meant for kitchen use will help you get used to the sensation and safety involved with cling wrap before you try and handle a roll designed for wrapping pallets the size of human beings.

How Do I Do Plastic Wrap Bondage?

Honestly, this is probably the simplest form of bondage you can experience!

Just keep wrapping the desired bondage areas until your captive experiences the inability to move out of those areas. That’s it!

You’ll need at least a couple of layers of cling wrap to experience that. You want to wrap it tightly enough to provide a binding experience without going too tightly. Remember, we don’t want to cut off circulation or anything. Having it reasonably tight without pulling it taut should provide a reasonable middle ground.

Don’t forget to leave it a bit looser around the chest area to allow for the chest to expand during breathing. This is something you’ll just learn as you continue to perform plastic wrap bondage.

Before you play, you probably will want to have your partner strip down to as little clothing as possible – naked is optimal, but skintight clothing (like tight underwear or a bra) can work as well. This makes it much easier to cut off the bondage when you’re done. Make sure you both understand that the clothing may, accidentally, get cut by the safety shears when trying to remove the saran wrap bondage. This isn’t the time for the most expensive lingerie you own.

When considering clothing choices, remember: it gets hot in there. Less clothing (with breathable fabrics for all the sweating) tends to work best.

How Do I Remove Plastic Wrap Bondage?

After you’re done, you’ll want to slowly cut off the plastic wrap with your safety shears. Ask the bound person to stay as still as possible for this; people’s first instincts are to move around when released, but you may still be holding and/or cutting with the safety shears and not expecting the movement.

As you’ve had the body in the same position for a long time, you want to get blood flow moving again as you cut them out. If you’ve done a full-body wrap, consider cutting each limb out, one at a time, and gently massaging the tissue. Start with small movements to get blood flowing again.

Especially if the person is clothed, I recommend starting with one good, “main” cut that runs the entire length of the saran wrap bondage you did. Not only does this instantly release the tension and allow some air flow, but it also gives you a gripping point to start destroying the saran wrap.

At this point, I’d look to see if there are any “easy” wins for removing the saran wrap. Look for spots you could tear with your hands or spots that would only require a quick snip to release a full limb.

Don’t forget to have a blanket and lots of aftercare cuddles available. The person released from plastic wrap bondage is bound to feel frigid (with the new exposure of air on their skin) with the dried sweat on their skin. This matters most when you’re learning how to do saran wrap bondage for mummification, but it can happen for any type of saran wrap bondage.

The bound person is likely to want to shower after they’ve come down. Depending on their preferences, they may prefer that shower before aftercare; for some people, being in close contact with another person while slimy with sweat is a large trigger (myself included!). (This can also be a great opportunity for adding a kink element to their bathing!)

In an emergency, cut off all of the sarap wrap quickly as possible, taking care to ensure the safety shears are never pointed towards the person’s face – especially if they’re flailing or panicking. In an emergency, the clothing is an afterthought; just get the bondage off as quickly as possible. If this is an emergency that will require an ambulance, dial emergency services before beginning the cuts to get the person out. Make sure the person is in a secure position and will not fall.

In an emergency situation, the drastic temperature swap is going to make it even more likely for someone to go into shock. If it will not impact their safety, try to cover the body with blankets as soon as they’re out.

Where Can I Use Plastic Wrap Bondage?

Plastic wrap bondage is very versatile and can be used for virtually anything you can imagine. Consider leaving the limbs free while wrapping the torso and hips (much like a piece of clothing). You can then use your safety shears to cut out small holes for breasts, anal, vaginal, or penis stimulation.

You can also bind the legs together from the knees down or the hips down. This makes it easy to keep your play partner from moving while you still have the rest of their body to enjoy.

Arms and limbs can also be saran wrapped to external, fixed objects to keep your partner from moving.

Don’t forget about full-body mummification. Consider wrapping up each individual arm and leg before doing the cling wrap over the entire body. This will add even more security and sensation. If someone is afraid of being unable to escape, however, mummifications are not a good fit!

Plastic wrap bondage should NEVER be used on the face or neck – no matter how you imagined it in your fantasies!

Even if doing a mummification, leave the face out of the plastic wrap. Consider adding a cotton/spandex hood around the head if full-body bondage is desired.

Environmental Impact of Saran Wrap Bondage

There’s virtually no way to “reuse” the saran wrap for anything after you’re done with your bondage. This, essentially, makes it one of the most wasteful forms of bondage in terms of environmental impact. Cuffs can be reused, and rope bondage can function similarly to saran wrap and can be widely reused – but comes with higher risks for beginners.

I’ve tried to come up with ways to “reuse” cling wrap bondage after you’re done, but I haven’t come up with much. The wrap is usually sweaty and very crinkled, so it usually feels grimy, doesn’t hold tight again, and doesn’t look nearly as translucent.

However, depending on where you live, you might be able to recycle your plastic film bondage. You’d need to contact your local recycling center – and always know exactly what brand of wrap you’re using for your plastic cling wrap bondage. (This article has more information about recycling cling wrap.)

Alternatively, while it’s not nearly as wide in length as cling wrap bondage can be, you could also choose to use Bondage Tape instead. Bondage Tape can be carefully unwrapped from the bound person – then nicely folded up – to reuse it over and over. It doesn’t behave the same as cling wrap (it isn’t as thin, translucent, or as molded to skin), but it also offers an easy-to-use bondage solution with a wrappable design with a bit more reusability.

How to Do Decorative Saran Wrap Bondage?

You don’t just have to stick to the basic saran wrap! In fact, if you want to get playful, consider looking for colored cling wrap during the holidays. December almost always gets green and red colored plastic wrap in retail stores – while you can purchase most colors year-round from various online retailers.

You can also “stick things” in the saran wrap bondage. Get a couple of base layers down on the person – to prevent any parts of the decorative “things” from poking them. Essentially, you want all of the bondage parts to be entirely done before you ever accessorize.

Once the bondage itself is done, you can press a few things against the person’s saran wrap bondage while adding a layer of saran wrap on top of it. The see-through design of the plastic wrap will let you see your added “accessories” while the saran wrap will help keep the accessories in place.

Looking for even more fun? Consider doing a very light layer of saran wrap as a “base” for your bondage. After that, use duct tape over top of the saran wrap, going line by line. Cut the tape after each line to get a nice, even wrap with each line. This may take longer, but in the end, you’ll have a person that’s duct taped into bondage without any of the downsides of having tape pull at the body hair. AND you can use the duct tape as a decorative canvas to make designs! (Silver duct tape plus black sharpies, anyone?)
