“Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide to Female Orgasms” is an instructional sex ed DVD made by VividEd (which is an instructional series that uses adult videos to teach adult concepts) and sold by Babeland Toys. The video is about 210 minutes long, and it features five different sex scenes along with the educational portion with Tristan. It was directed by Tristan Taormino as well. The movie is about two hours and fifty minutes long, so it’s definitely a longer movie that you might want to break into smaller segments. Safe sex methods are used throughout the movie.
The movie is focused on female orgasms. Tristan is very good about explaining that everyone has different types of orgasm and that everyone reaches orgasm differently as well. There isn’t as much technique information as I’d like to see, but the movie is, instead, about the basics of female orgasm including some good-to-know information such as that women can benefit from vibrators, women are all different, and how to communicate with your partner. However, it doesn’t really show any specific techniques about how to reach orgasm.
The movie starts off with Tristan Taormino talking about the basics of female orgasms. (She’s so darn cute!) She is a bit stiff in her discussion and the words, but it does get the point across really well, and she doesn’t leave anything out. She talks about the phases of female arousal, multiple orgasms, different types of orgasms, what an orgasm feels like, the different ways women can orgasm, the importance of lube, how to do clitoral stimulation, vaginal stimulation orgasms, anal stimulation, and how the brain plays a part in orgasm. Her parting thought is that *you* are responsible for your own orgasms – not your partner.
I will say that the pornographic aspect gets off to a slow start. If you are looking to get straight into the porn, use the scene selection. The first 30 minutes of the movies are Tristan’s educational portion as well interviews with the cast of the movie about their orgasms. It is definitely educational and worth watching though.
After the part with Tristan and her instructional portion, the movie launches into the sexual portion. Each one of the sex scenes starts with the two actors discussing orgasms and how they feel about one another which ends up working out well. You get a bit of their personalities before they begin, but if you wanted to get straight into the sex, this may be a downside for you.
The sex is hot and realistic. That’s what I like about it. I may not have liked everyone in it, but in general, the sex reminds me of what you’d see if you watch real couples having sex on television. There is a lot of focus on female pleasure on this movie, and I love that the guys seem to be having an amazingly fun time doing it. In most mainstream porn, the guys seem to look at it as something that has to be done, but in this movie, they seem to really take pleasure on it. I also enjoy the fact that there’s a lot of toy use throughout the movie which shows that some women really need toys for orgasm.
The first scene is between Katie St. Ives and Sean Michael. They get along really nicely, and I love her expressions. She seems to really take a lot of pleasure from the stimulation that he gives her, and they both enjoy some foreplay as well as some sexy oral sex and vibrator use. She gets multiple orgasms, and there’s some hot oral sex on him before the two of them have sex in a variety of positions. I love how Katie tends to just express herself with small words and moans as she gets more turned on, and she just sounds cute. The two of them make a great, fun-loving couple.
The second scene is between Evanni Solei and Evan Stone. I absolutely love Evan Stone, and his personality is amazing. He’s great to listen to, and he just has an interesting sense of humor. They get started with the foreplay, and there’s some dry humping that is just freakin’ hot! I wish the two of them would have been a bit more vocal – that’s really my only complaint. They had some hot eye contact and some sexy sex, but both of them tended to stay pretty quiet, and the only sound you’d hear was the Hitachi. They both were still sexy though, and the dry humping was certainly hot.
The third scene was between Jiz Lee and Madison Young. The two of them have a good chemistry, and both are very attractive as well. They use a bunch of fun toys, and Madison has fun fingering Jiz Lee in a variety of different positions. Both of them make very sexy noise. (At one point, Madison throws a dildo, and I giggled) The attention then focuses to Madison, and there’s some hot orgasms with the Hitachi and the Pure Wand. Madison does get a little bit insanely loud though which, while hot, made me think the neighbors were going to think I was murdering someone. It’s definitely a good scene, and the two of them are very hot.
The fourth scene is Dylan Ryan and Mr. Marcus. The two of them have great personalities and were interesting to listen to during their interview. They start off with some hot foreplay, and then the Eleven is used on Dylan. That dildo is insane! Dylan shows him techniques once in awhile in a sexy, fun way, and the two of them really same to enjoy themselves. Dylan Ryan has some sexy squirting orgasms as well. Overall, it’s just a really sexy scene.
The fifth, and final, scene is between Adrianna Nicole and James Dean. James is cute in a geeky way, and Adrianna has a very beautiful figure. The two of them have a bit of foreplay, but they move pretty quickly into the sex. The angles are neat, and the two of them are very vocal about their pleasure. I love that he’s vocal in particular, and the two of them use a Hitachi during sex too which is hot.
Unlike other Tristan Taormino movies, the Expert Guide to Female Orgasms does not include voice-overs over the sexual portions. This is a big change from other movies. I don’t know if I found it a welcome change or not. The sex scenes were hot, but as it is, I feel like it was just a short introduction along with some sex scenes tacked on. At some point in one of her movies, I’d love to see Tristan get more involved during the sex portion. It might not be the hottest for porn purposes, but having her show and talk about how to insert and use a g-spot dildo for pleasure on a person would be amazing.
In case you are someone who enjoys revisiting scenes at a later date, this DVD does have the scene selection which allows you to choose by sex scene which part of the movie you’d like to rewatch. This movie also includes other special features which includes the Safer Sex portion (shows you how to apply safer sex barriers and even about female ejaculation), how to do Kegal Exercises (including a video demonstration which is just interesting to watch), a Vibrator Guide, Masturbation montage, a Behind the Scenes feature, previews of other Tristan movies, and an advertisement for Vivid Products.
Overall, I like Tristan Taormino’s Expert Guide to Female Orgasms. It gives a good overview of orgasms and has some hot sex in it. I wonder if maybe the content couldn’t have been organized differently as I wish there had been more instruction, but it is still a good DVD worth checking out if you want to learn “is that normal?” or about ways women reach orgasm.
