However, that’s only if you happen to fall within its comfortable fastening ranges. With the button snap closures, you can’t get as precise of a fit as the usual collar buckles. We’ve found that if it’s too loose or too tight, the collar can feel a bit itchy on the skin. When that happens, my submissive usually has to speak up, and we adjust the tightness on the collar.

I’m finding that the collar material is that “something“. Each time I go to unfasten the snap buttons, I need to grip onto the collar’s material, twist, and apply pressure to get the buttons to unfasten.
This isn’t the end of the world, but like I said, these snap fasteners are ultra tight. It means that a lot of power and torsion is required to get the snap fasteners apart. This twisting on the material isn’t light. In order to get the grip I need to get the snaps apart, I usually have to bend the collar to a 45-degree angle.
(I’ve even accidentally scratched the back of my partner’s neck a few times because of the release of tension when the two ends come apart.)
I can’t predict whether this constant torsion will end up being an issue for the collar down the road. It seems to leave a slight bend/crease in the collar each time I do it, but once I lay the collar flat for a long period of time, this crease comes out. Either the collar’s leather material will soften up a bit to the point where this bend doesn’t happen or a snap will be ripped out of the leather at some point. I’m not sure which one it’s going to be, but I’m pretty sure it’s long down the line after hundreds of uses of the collar.
The snap fasteners are my only concern about durability, though. The front D-ring is extremely secure (and more than enough for nipple clamps), and the material itself handles really nicely. It’s a thin, lighter leather, but it has a stiffness and firmness to it that seems like it will resist most damage.
