With no rivets or sharp edges on the inside lining of the cuffs, they slide against the thighs really nicely with no discernible uncomfortable spots.
They smell amazing when you first get them, and they feel just as amazing every time you wear them. The cow leather material is super smooth – almost buttery. It feels like a treat when you first put it on, and it somehow gets even more sensual feeling as body heat warms it up. It feels like a treat.
Unlike some of the other Liebe Seele cuffs we’ve used, the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs arrived softened enough to easily fasten them around the thighs. They don’t have any stiffness to them, and they’ve actually become more fluid the longer we’ve used them. It slides and fastens nicely, and there was no “breaking in” period.
As the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs are made up of multiple layers of thick, sturdy leather, they can get a bit hot though. Especially if we’ve been doing a lot of play, we’ve found some sweat underneath the thigh cuffs when we’re done. He has never noticed it while wearing it – only when the cooler air hits the hot skin after we remove it. Just plan ahead for doing a quick rinse of the area and the cuffs after you’re done playing.
Our only complaint is that the two ends of the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs don’t usually stay nicely adhered to one another. In the spot where the thigh cuffs overlap, with rougher play, the excess length “slides out” from resting on top of the other half of the cuff. This makes for a spiral-looking cuff instead of a completely circular cuff.
It doesn’t affect use at all, but it simply affects the look of the cuffs. I’d guess it’s a mixture of a few things like:
- Unlike the ankles or wrists, the thighs likely rest against the surface below them pretty constantly while they move. It takes a lot more effort to pick up a thigh off the bed before moving it versus a wrist. This probably makes a lot more full-contact movement on the thigh cuff.
- The cow leather material of the thigh cuff, while delicious to smell and touch, is also relatively slippery. The two ends will slide against one another, and this lack of tacky grip makes it easier for the two sides to become uneven.
While this annoys my brain, it does not affect the use of the thigh cuffs at all. If we’re doing something particularly rough, I tuck the tail back in to avoid uneven pressure out of an abundance of caution, but it has yet to cause an issue.
Liebe Seele Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs Review: Durability
Like most of the gorgeous Liebe Seele gear, the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs are durable – and I honestly can’t imagine being able to break them.
We haven’t been nice to them during scenes, and they still look brand new. (We scuffed the edge of an end with shitty storage practices, but I don’t blame the thigh cuffs for that at all.)
They’ve held up to violent orgasm torture scenes, being walked around multiple play parties, being worn around the house for high protocol evenings, and even being worn during calm, relaxing jerk off instruction sessions. They’ve even been worn during a few peggings (and I got lube on them, and after a clean-up, they still look fantastic.)
I’m especially fond of the 3 D-rings on each one of the cuffs. Placed at 9 o’clock, 12 o’clock, and 3 o’clock, you essentially have a D-ring that allows you to fasten the cuffs in any direction (or multiple directions at once). If you need the 6 o’clock setting (which is currently where the fastener sits), you simply swivel the cuff around the thigh to reposition the D-rings.
This really lets the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs work for virtually everything you have in mind. We’ve used them for standing scenes where each cuff gets two bondage tethers to keep them in place. We’ve used them for lazy-ass bed bondage scenes where I simply attach the outermost bondage points to our under-the-bed restraint system to keep his thighs spread.
And yet, the thigh cuffs keep on holding up, doing their job fantastically.

The Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs look hot as heck; I do not blame you for wanting to wear them as part of a matching lingerie set. We did the same thing – which is why I have a few pointers.
Since the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs are made of such a super-smooth leather, they will slide down the thighs with ease. This isn’t a problem when someone is secured into bondage or laying down, but if you start walking around a convention center or your home, you’re going to quickly find that the cuffs travel towards the ankles.
It’s not the cuffs’ fault; they’re simply fastened onto the widest part of the legs, and there’s nowhere for them to go but downward, towards more slender bits. Partner this with the smooth leather (versus elastic or vinyl of stay-put stockings), and you have a bit of a recipe for something to slide down the legs.
We’ve found it best to use a leather harness or garter belt with clips on the thigh cuffs. By clipping the Dark Secret Thigh Cuffs into a harness anchored around the waist, it offers a bit of “stay put” ability that you don’t get with the Thigh Cuffs on their own.
Depending on what outfit you’re wearing or what vibe you’re going for, you could also “anchor” the thigh cuffs by other forms of bondage. For example, you could attach the thigh cuffs to the wearer’s wrist cuffs. Now, the upward pressure of the wrist cuff tether will help the thigh cuffs resist gravity. The same could be said of a waist cuff or collar; you can get creative!

If the wearer will be doing a lot of walking, be cognizant of how much their thighs touch as well. If their thighs regularly touch in the spot where the cuffs are, the extra friction can be uncomfortable – and cause the thigh cuffs to slide down more easily.
