The LuxHer and LuxHim sits out next to a jewelry box. A sensual blue light glows throughout the entire image, putting the whole image in blue. For my Luxus review.

Innovation in action, the Luxus couple’s vibrator set is designed to seamlessly sync vibrations with the natural rhythm of your movements. How well does it do that? Well, let me explain everything you’ll want to know about this new couple’s vibrator brand in this Luxus review.

The Luxus set includes two separate toys: the LuxHer and LuxHim. Together, sensors within both toys synchronize the vibrations in the LuxHer clitoral vibrator to the movements made by the LuxHim ring.

Luxus Review: How Is It Different?

The Luxus is billed as a couple’s vibrator, designed to offer “pleasure in perfect sync” better than other couple’s vibrators.

It does this via its unique magnetic vibration system.

The pink LuxHer vibrator (which provides clitoral pleasure) has a motor that can respond to a magnet’s presence. The blue LuxHim cock ring (which wraps around the shaft but has no moving/vibrating function) is equipped with a strong magnet.

As the magnet from the LuxHim cock ring gets closer to the LuxHer vibrator, the LuxHer vibrator can vibrate with different functions. Essentially, the two of them have distance-sensing technology, allowing the vibrator to respond to the presence of your lover’s shaft versus your hand needing to control things via a physical remote or app.

A quick showcase of that magnetism:

The LuxHim is hanging off my finger. The LuxHer is hanging off the LuxHim, the magnetic connection strong enough to hang the vibrator. For my Luxus review.

The Luxus set uses this distance-sensing functionality as the basis for most of its modes.

“Distance Mode” will offer stronger vibrations the closer the two toys get to one another while the vibrations get softer (or turn off) if the two toys are spread apart. The intensity range is customizable. You can set Distance Mode to:

  • Provide intermittent vibrations from off to 60% based on distance
  • Provide intermittent vibrations from off to 100% based on distance
  • Provide continuous vibrations from 15% to 60% based on distance
  • Provide continous vibrations from 30% to 100% based on distance
  • Provide pulsing (dot-dot-dot-dot-dot patterned) vibrations that activate only when the toys are in close proximity

The “Distance Mode” is definitely the largest selling point of the Luxus set.

“Speed Mode” (which I have yet to get to work) is supposed to increase the vibration intensity based on how quickly the two items are moving towards – and away – from one another.

When you don’t want to deal with fancy distance functions, Luxus has “Single User Mode”. This is two different, continuous vibration modes. One provides constant vibrations at 33%, and the other provides constant vibrations at full power (100%). This, essentially, just turns the LuxHer into a standard, non-smart vibrator. It just vibrates with the button press.

The Luxus is also equipped with “Bluetooth Mode” that allows the vibrator to be used with the free cell phone app, providing wireless control over the toy’s functionality.

I'm wearing the LuxHim cock ring around my wrist. It fits really tightly onto my wrist but it does fit. For my Luxus review.

For Heterosexual Intercourse

Luxus doesn’t pretend otherwise: the Luxus set is designed for heterosexual couples who identify as male and female. All of the instructions and marketing information are very clear about the “man” and “woman” using the LuxHim and LuxHer.

The set could be used by two clitoris-owning people, but you’d still probably want to wrap the LuxHim ring around something for penetration. The ring technically stretches enough for me to wrap it around my wrist, but the distances don’t quite match up. While trialing it for this Luxus review, I was only able to experience the lightest vibration setting (and only very rarely) while he was using his fingers for penetration. The wrist is just decently far away from the clitoral vibrator when you’ve got the entire palm separating the two.

Now if you’re regularly fisting, that may be a different experience. The cock ring and vibrator would be in much closer contact when wrapped around the wrist like a bracelet.

For those who are looking to put a penis into a butt, I’m not sure if the Luxus is the right set either. The LuxHer can technically be placed anywhere externally, but you’re not likely to get much use out of the vibrator on the anal entrance. For two-penis couples, the LuxHer could technically be wrapped around the tip of the receiver’s shaft for vibration pleasure during intercourse, but the Distance functionality would be useless; the receiver’s bum is simply too far from where the receiver’s penis is.

The functionality of the Luxus has a set audience, and the company focused on it. I would have loved to see less gendered language (i.e. not every couple with a penis and vagina identifies as cisgendered), but it’s definitely designed for penis-in-vagina intercourse.

Luxus Review: Wearing the LuxHer

The LuxHim ring is pretty simple. It just wraps around the base of the shaft.

The LuxHer, however, offers multiple ways to help keep it in place.

Your initial Luxus toy purchase already comes with a few of them. The Luxus base box includes:

  • LuxHer
  • LuxHim
  • 2 Adhesive Stickers
  • 1 Finger Grip
  • Charger
  • White Drawstring Storage Pouch

This automatically gives you two different ways to keep the LuxHer in place: a finger grip and adhesive stickers.

The LuxHer vibrator is in the Finger Grip holster. The Finger Grip is tucked in-between my pointer and middle fingers so it holds itself there and doesn't need to be held between my fingers.

The Finger Grip is a silicone “handle” with an attached loop. That silicone loop fits snugly over the LuxHer vibrator, and it keeps the vibrator within the handle’s grip. Throughout the entirety of my Luxus review, I have not had it slide out while using it. The gripping band of the Finger Grip is also strategically placed away from the strongest vibration point, so it doesn’t disrupt much of the vibration intensity either. When the LuxHer is in this, the Finger Grip handle slips between two fingers, making it so you don’t have to “grasp” the small toy between the pads of your fingers.

The LuxHer vibrator is in the Finger Grip holster. The Finger Grip is tucked in-between my pointer and middle fingers so it holds itself there and doesn't need to be held between my fingers. The vibrator's tip protrudes away from the toy to better nestle against the clit.

The 2 Adhesive Stickers are just that: stickers that match the shape and size of the LuxHer and allow the vibrator to “stick” onto your body. The underside of the LuxHer vibrator has four little empty holes. There are four stick-out “posts” built into the Adhesive Sticker. You push the vibrator firmly onto the Adhesive Sticker, and it snaps into these “posts”, attaching the vibrator temporarily to the Adhesive Sticker.

Once you’ve done that, you unpeel the Adhesive Sticker’s backside, and it allows the vibrator to “stick” to any area of skin.

According to Luxus, each one of these Adhesive Stickers is reusable for 5 to 15 uses. They sell additional 5-pack sets if that’s your preferred way to use the LuxHer hands-free.

The Adhesive Stickers stuck just fine to my laser-hair-removal’d skin with a few notes:

  • Depending on how long sex lasts, peeling them up afterwards can feel about as pleasant as you imagine peeling a sticker off your skin would be. If sex goes awhile (and you both get sweaty), it peels up easier.
  • It peels up easier the longer you’ve restuck the same adhesive. The first use hurt quite a bit. The sixth time wasn’t that bad.
  • I haven’t gotten a single Adhesive past 8 uses. I’ve been using the adhesive on dry, clean skin, usually a few hours after my last shower without any lotion, shaving cream, or pubic hair in the area.
  • The Adhesive Stickers adhere to your Mons Pubis – NOT the actual clitoris. It does not stick to the clitoris, but instead, right above.
  • It’s a bit of a time to figure out the right placement. Follow the instructions, and fasten the vibrator onto the sticker before use. From there, get the tip of the vibrator in place, nestling the vibe where you want it before rolling the rest of the sticker onto your skin.
  • Even with plushy (fat, to be honest) outer labia and mons pubis, the sticker still held fine.
  • If you have plushness or fat around the area, the vibrator’s 0.6″ protrusion may not directly hit the clit when passively held with the sticker. Essentially, the vibrator is just resting on top of the squishy fat pad of your mons pubis. If your mons pubis area is decently far from where you like clitoral pressure, this can make it difficult for the toy to make contact. The pressure I talk about below (with my partner’s weight) during intercourse helped it make better contact.
  • Make sure to keep the original plastic backing for the sticker. This protects the adhesive in-between uses. You’ll want to put it back onto the sticker when you’re done.

The Adhesive Stickers do not work with pubic hair. That means, out of the box, if you have pubic hair, you’ll need to handhold the LuxHer or use the Finger Grip attachment. Otherwise, (as we’re about to cover), you can use the strap-it-on harness.

If you want other options, Luxus also sells a strappy Luxus harness that, essentially, uses straps to strap the vibrator onto the body. (It reminds me of the old wearable Butterfly Vibrators.)

The Luxus vibrator harness laid out flat on a flat surface. The holster for the LuxHer is in the middle with both of the harness straps laid out on either side.

Luxus Harness Review

I really, really love the idea of hands-free pleasure during intercourse. Judging by the industry and people’s demands so does everyone else.

That’s why I really love the optional LuxUS Harness you can pick up. Luxus was kind enough to send me one alongside the toy for this Luxus review. This simple harness provides a silicone holster for the LuxHer vibrator, allowing you to strap the vibrator around your hips (and onto the clitoris) for hands-free pleasure. No one needs to hold the LuxHer in place; the harness does it for you.

A person is wearing the Luxus harness overtop of their pants, showcasing how the LuxHer fits in the harness and how the harness is worn on the body. For my Luxus review.

Essentially, the Luxus Harness is made up of two parts: a silicone holster and rubbery/silicone-feeling straps. There are two straps that wrap around the hips, similar to a crotchless jockstrap. Each one of these straps is adjustable via a slideable strap that folds over excess strap (like a bra strap adjuster).

Making it easier to get on and off, as you can see in the photos, the Luxus Harness straps each feature a small slide-in hook onto the main silicone holster. This offers a lot more accessibility, allowing you to wrap the straps around the thighs if stepping into the harness isn’t an option.

The Luxus vibrator harness laid out flat on a flat surface. There's a close-up of the slide-in strap fasteners that allow you to wrap the harness around each of the legs instead of stepping into the harness.

Technically, I think it “could” allow you to put the Luxus harness around the body when you’re already lying down, but I haven’t had any success getting that done. The straps never get under my booty like they need to without doing a glute bridge to move the straps underneath the bum cheeks, reducing some of the ease of just “clip it around the legs and go”.

The LuxHer vibrator pops really easily into this silicone holster. It’s more of a pain to get out of the holster once it’s in, but I prefer that over the alternative where it flops out of the holster mid-use. Instead, it pops in pretty easily, and with the silicone holster’s edges sealed around the vibe, it stays in place really nicely too.

The LuxHer vibrator is in the holster of the Luxus harness, showcasing how the harness fits the LuxHer vibrator.

As noted, getting it out is a bit more of a pain – especially if you have lots of lube on the holster area. I’d recommend bringing the full harness and LuxHer to the sink, washing off all the lube, then using a fingernail to get under an edge of the holster. Once you can get that fingernail under to break the seal, the holster pops off the edges, allowing you to retrieve the LuxHer.

(As a note, because of the edges around the Luxus harness and the LuxHER vibrator, if you intend to keep your vibrator in this harness 24/7, you’ll still need to remove the vibrator for sex toy cleaning. This seam is much too large and allows too much bodily fluids to get underneath it to just leave the LuxHER in it 24/7 without cleaning.)

The Luxus harness is my favorite option, out of all of them, for holding the LuxHer vibrator. This is for a few big reasons:

  • It’s hands-free.
  • It provides pressure.

That’s it.

The Adhesive stickers are also hands-free, but they passively stick onto the skin. With my plushier/fat in the area, this doesn’t necessarily get me the pressure I need from the vibrator.

The Finger Grip allows me to hold onto the LuxHer, but that’s not hands-free.

The Luxus Harness is the best of both worlds. I can tighten it as tightly as I need to really “shove” the LuxHer vibrator in-between my labia as best as possible. This pressure really helps the vibrations get where they need to go.

It requires putting on the harness to a tightness, where, with my squishy body, the straps are definitely digging in. But, it’s also getting the LuxHer in a spot where I can orgasm from it, so it’s a nice trade-off.

The Luxus harness is also the most resistant to micro movements, so if we’re doing something rough (or the LuxHim magnet keeps tugging at the LuxHer vibe), it seems to keep the vibe in place better than the alternatives.

The LuxHer vibrator sits on a flat surface. The tip of the vibrator protrudes more than the flat surface of it, with a curvature designed to help wrap around the clitoris. For my Luxus review.

Luxus Review: The Distance Mode Works!

At its core, the Luxus is really designed to showcase this hands-free, vibrating-by-distance functionality. At this price point, you should be picking it up for its unique distance-focused functionality. If you just want a standard couple’s vibrator or clitoral vibrator, you can get a pretty solid one at a fraction of the price.

So for this Luxus review, we’re really going to focus on the unique function that the Luxus offers. That is, as the LuxHim cock ring gets near the LuxHer, the LuxHer responds with vibrations. Ideally, using the accessories, Luxus wants LuxHer to be hands-free, providing constant stimulation to the clitoris-owner during intercourse in a way that other vibrators can’t do.

And the Distance Mode does that pretty darn well.

As the LuxHim cock ring gets closer to the LuxHer, the LuxHer responds with vibrations. When you’re moving the two towards one another at the ideal angle, it responds flawlessly, seemingly perfectly reading the distance and responding virtually instantly with a change in vibrations with the LuxHer.

That being said, it’s important to note that bolded function: “When you’re moving the two towards each other at the ideal angle”.

As you use the LuxHer, it’s very, very clear that the LuxHer has its magnetic sensor built into a very specific spot. It’s about an inch below the single button, at the curved “clitoral tip”, but not directly on top of the clitoral tip.

Luxus Review image. A hand-drawn digital circle is shown circling the spot on the LuxHer that receives data from the LuxHim.

If the LuxHim taps the top of the vibe, near the single press button, nothing. The LuxHer will not respond. If the LuxHim taps at the clitoral tip, again, nothing. The LuxHim needs to make its proximity contact in this specific range for the vibrations of the LuxHer to respond.

This isn’t, necessarily, the end of the world, but it does limit some of your sex positions and/or require some forethought on your end. Since the LuxHim ring can be worn any direction on a penis shaft, you can occasionally just twist the ring around to best match the sex position to help hit that proximity.

So, something like Missionary tends to line up without a second thought. The LuxHer will be in the 12 o’clock position, and the LuxHim will probably, by default, be worn in the 12 o’clock position. Since the penis-owner is on top and the vagina owner is probably lying on their back on a bed, the penis will be coming in from a top-down angle, placing the LuxHer and LuxHim in close proximity with every thrust.

That isn’t the case with all positions. Take Doggy. If the LuxHer is attached to the receiver’s clitoris, it’s in the front/underside of the wearer’s body. If the penis owner is wearing the LuxHim in a 12 o’clock position, they will not get anywhere near one another, meaning the Distance Mode will not activate. The penis owner will need to wear the LuxHim in the 6 o’clock position to attempt to get the two items close enough.

For another scenario, let’s say everybody is still in this Doggy position. Only, in an effort to bang into the g-spot, the penis owner is taking a top-down approach, squatting in something that looks like the Bulldog. In this case, the LuxHer and LuxHim will be too far apart – even if the penis-owner wears it in a 6 o’clock position, for the toys to make contact enough to control the vibrations.

The LuxHer vibrator sits on a flat surface. The tip of the vibrator protrudes more than the flat surface of it, with a curvature designed to help wrap around the clitoris. For my Luxus review.

Luxus Review: Hard Measurements for Distance Mode

These are hard measurements to help you determine if the LuxUs Distance Mode is a good fit for your favorite sex positions.

(I literally measured the two as they came close to one another on top of a measuring tape on my desk.)

The Distance Mode will not kick in until the LuxHer and LuxHim are 4.5 centimeters apart. At 5.5 centimeters, they do not recognize one another.

This is REALLY close together.

The LuxHer and LuxHim vibe shown next to one another on top of a measuring tape. The toys look very close to one another.

The strongest vibrations are enabled at the 1.5 centimeter mark, and they do not get any stronger if the toy goes any closer.

If your sex position doesn’t get the LuxHer and LuxHim at least this close together, the Distance functionality (which is probably what you paid for) will not work.

And keep in mind (and this is part of the sex position selection struggle):

It’s 4.5 centimeters from a very specific spot on the LuxHer vibrator. It’s not 4.5 centimeters from the clitoral tip that’s on your clit.

Luxus Review image. A hand-drawn digital circle is shown circling the spot on the LuxHer that receives data from the LuxHim.

It’s also very important to note that, if the two toys actually touch one another, they will magnetize onto one another. Anything within a 0.25″-ish distance range makes the magnets pull hard at one another, and it’s extremely surprising when it happens. With your whole body weight behind the LuxHim, we’ve never had an issue with the ring, but we have found the LuxHer to slightly wiggle itself away from its initial placement if we make too much direct contact between the two sex toys.

Speed Mode on the LuxUs Sex Toy

I have yet to get any part of the Speed Mode to work. The LuxHer just sits and occasionally vibrates apropos of nothing every time I try the Speed Mode. I’m not sure if the Speed Mode is just that unsensitive, we’re terrible at moving during sex (this seems unlikely), or what.

The Luxus set shown with everything included in it. There's the LuxHer and LuxHim, the Finger Grip, 2 Adhesive Stickers, a charging cable, and a white drawstring storage bag. For my Luxus review.

Luxus Review: Working with Sex Positions

I can orgasm with the LuxHer during intercourse. It requires multiple factors to all come together to make it happen, but it’s possible.

First, the vibrations are not strong enough or rumbly enough for me to orgasm via a light placement on my clitoris alone. When we’ve just tried to gently let it rest on my clit (via the Adhesive) during this Luxus review trial period, the vibrations end up temporarily numbing me before I orgasm.

The magic, however, happens if we pick a sex position where everything is aligned AND we have some body weight pressed down onto the LuxHer on occasion. The vibrations, plus the pressure of it rubbing against my clit, has been orgasmic (and hands-free, yay!) on multiple occasions. This can be challenging because of the magnetic connection between the LuxHer and LuxHim. Too much magnet drag onto the LuxHer may dislodge it from the happy place, making the orgasms difficult again. Using the Luxus harness, fitted very snugly, helps a lot.

When we get that magic to happen, everything feels perfect in the world. The vibrations time up with his thrusts, ensuring I’m constantly riding new waves of vibration without overstimulating. When he’s all the way in, and the LuxHer’s pressure really pushes it into my clit, it adds even more intensity to it, and the whole thing can drag me to very awesome hands-free orgasms that I’ve (honestly) never had with another couple’s vibrator. Like…ever.

When everything aligns, the Luxus genuinely feels like it has “unlocked” what an intercourse-focused sex toy was supposed to be during sex. We go about enjoying sex like we normally would, only with added pleasure that fluidly matches the cadence of sex, rolling into our bodies without any extra effort on our parts.

That being said, as we’ve been working on this Luxus review, we’ve had as many misses as we have “hits”. Some sex positions just simply don’t line up between the LuxHer and LuxHim. They just don’t get close enough to make Distance Mode work.

This is even more frustrating when the sex position did, initially, work with Distance Mode. We’ll be having a grand ol’ time, and he’ll readjust his arms to rest his weight in a new spot or to get some pressure off his knee, and it’ll be enough readjustment that the two toys won’t be in good alignment anymore. We need to pause what we’re doing, “recalibrate” how to get the two toys to make close contact, before continuing again.

Standard-ass Missionary works pretty flawlessly. If that’s your sex position of choice, Distance Mode will probably work as seamlessly as it’s advertised. If you’re a CAT (Coital Alignment Technique), we haven’t been able to get that one to align well enough for Distance Mode to work. The LuxHim seems to hit too high up on the LuxHer, missing that magnetic spot.

Doggy style is hit-or-miss. If I get g-spot pleasure from the position, the vibrator tends to be too far from the LuxHim to work. That’s frustrating.

Cowgirl actually works pretty flawlessly, but I have a harder time getting the LuxHer vibrator to stay in place. We almost always have to utilize the harness (and readjust it a couple times) if doing Cowgirl. Gravity, and all of my body’s wiggling around, tends to dislodge the toy a bit more easily than other positions.

Spooning is mostly a miss. If he slides down the bed and comes in at more of an upward angle (I know this as the Spork position, but this Wrapped Spoon has a bit of the vibe), we’ve managed to get Distance Mode to work. If his penis is traveling more in the “Traditional” Spoon at a 90-degree angle to my vagina, we haven’t gotten them close enough.

(You’ll see a pattern here. A lot of “from behind” positions don’t put the base of the shaft close enough to the clitoris to get the LuxHer to activate with Distance Mode.)

Solo Pleasure from the LuxHer

I can also use the LuxHer as a standard clitoral vibrator. To be honest, in a house full of sex toys, I just simply wouldn’t. I have other clitoral vibrators that do the basic “vibrate on clit” better than the LuxHer.

It isn’t necessarily the LuxHer’s fault. It’s a relatively small vibe, and it has to stay small in order to be used hands-free and stick comfortably onto the clitoral area.

However, using the LuxHer as its own, standalone clitoral vibrator is a value added proposition. You already have the Luxus set, so if you need/want to use it as a clitoral vibrator, it will work.

When purely hand-holding the LuxHer and using it clitorally, I can orgasm from it. I usually need around the 80% power mark, and it works best if I haven’t had an orgasm in a bit and I’m feeling sensitive. I also am someone who needs pressure, so I’ll find that I “push” the LuxHer into my body as I’m using it. Wiggling it back and forth, using the curved tip of the vibe as if it were a finger, stroking back and forth, also helps a lot.

If I’m struggling to orgasm for whatever reason (alcohol, I’ve been using the LuxHer too long, came earlier that day, etc.), the LuxHer does not have enough power to get me to orgasm.

I’ll admit, though, again, getting through all of the functions on the LuxHer to actually get just to steady clitoral vibrations is aggravatingly difficult. Even after I do all of that, I only get two speeds with the built-in settings. I either get 33% of power, or, if that’s not enough, I get 100%, full-send. There’s no in-between built into the basic manual use of the LuxHer. (More about the manual control is below.)

(Extra sad: If you were at 100% and find you’re not cumming and you want to go back to the 33% intensity, you have to rescroll through the entirety of the toy’s functions again. That’s 9 button presses. You’re almost there when you see the Purple light.)

This means, if I want to use any steady vibration setting that isn’t 33% or 100%, I have to use the app with the LuxHer. The app allows you to drag and drop your finger to access any power range between 0% to 100% as needed. But now I need to handle a distracting phone and handle the vibrator at the same time.

The LuxHer just really wasn’t built for manual, solo, clitoral-vibrator-only use. It’s pretty clear in the design choices that were made. However, it gets easier to use if you pair it with the app, so again, if you’re someone who wants to get as much versatility out of your sex toy as possible, it’s there.

I'm wearing the LuxHim cock ring around my wrist. It fits really tightly onto my wrist but it does fit. For my Luxus review.

The LuxHim Fit On His Shaft

It can be hard to tell from photos, but the LuxHim is literally just a silicone ring with a hefty magnet attached at the top.

The silicone is a thinner type of silicone, and it has a decent stretch. As noted above, I can get this on my wrist, but it’s VERY snug when I do so.

At rest, with zero stretch, the diameter of the internal ring is about 1.15″. It’ll stretch out to 2.5″ without too much issue, but it’s constricting for anything above a 1.5″ shaft diameter.

That can be a good thing. The LuxHim, essentially, provides the usual benefits of a snug cock ring: it can help increase endurance, make for a firmer erection, and make for more powerful ejaculations.

But it’s worth noting that it will likely be constricting on most. It isn’t just casually wrapped around there. It’s an intentionally snug fit designed to provide cock ring benefits while wearing it.

Application is definitely a two-handed affair. Silicone can “snap back” to its at-rest size pretty easily. Using both hands, stretch out the LuxHim to a wide circle, and then use those two hands to slowly move it into position where you want it on your shaft. When you have it in place, very gently release that pressure, allowing the cock ring to rest on your shaft.

I highly recommend a dab of lube on the shaft where you’re wearing it. It’ll make it easier (and less likely to pinch or grab hair!) to do the final spot adjustments when you have it where you want.

Minimal Pleasure for Him

Unlike many couple’s vibrators and vibrating cock rings, the Luxus set up provides virtually zero pleasure for the penis-owning partner. According to some of the marketing info on the Luxus website, this is by design, helping to even out the intensity between two partners.

That may actually be a good for you and your partner. At least with us (and the premature ejaculation training I’ve done with him), when we use vibrators to enhance “our” pleasure, it often gets him too close, too fast, making it hard for me to reap the benefits.

The Luxus doesn’t have that issue. The cock ring is just a cock ring. The wider “tip” of the cock ring simply makes space for the distance-sensing technology (a magnet) that lets the two toys communicate. It snugly squeezes the shaft, and provides some of the stamina-enhancing benefits of a snug cock ring, but it doesn’t provide extra stimulation for the penis owner.

If you and yours are finding that the penis-owning partner doesn’t need additional stimulation, the Luxus set focuses all of the pleasure on the clitoris.

Manually Controlling the Luxus

The Luxus vibrator is packed full of a ton of vibration functions. This is the first time that I’ve ever said a vibrator just has too many. The only saving grace is that the Luxus is equipped with an LED light right on the vibrator itself, and each one of the modes has its own color.

Just LOOK at this.

Screenshot of the instruction manual for the Luxus LuxHer vibrator. It shows how many clicks and button presses are required to access the various menus. It's very complicated looking.

That’s 8 different button presses to get it to a full-speed vibration intensity, and if you accidentally double-press a button too quickly (i.e. you’re trying to scroll through really fast to get to the function you want), you can just activate pause/unpause mode, causing it to just sit there.

But if the vibrator is literally adhesived onto your clit, the wearer can’t see the LED light. This can make it really impossible to use manually for solo play – though if you’re using it with a partner, as designed, they can help you “see” with what mode you’re on.

It doesn’t help that the LED light only blinks for a second. If you miss the LED’s color, you’ll be unaware of what setting it’s now on.

But really, the manual control of the vibrator is overwhelming at best and frustrating at worst. When I’m not horny and just trying to get it all set up, it takes a bit to get it to anything aside from Bluetooth, Custom Mode, or Distance Mode (luckily, you’ll be using those the most). If I’m mid-play and trying to give up on Distance Mode and swap over to the continuous vibration modes because I can’t orgasm from Distance Mode, it takes quite a few button presses at a time where I’m already annoyed that it didn’t do the thing I wanted it to.

It’s too much. Unless I’m using the Luxus for Distance Mode, I’d probably access all other modes via Bluetooth instead. It really streamlines control. (But it’s also frustrating to go find a cell phone just to have sex.)

Screenshots of the Luxus app. Two different views of the Customs Settings page are shown next to one another. For my Luxus review.

Luxus Review: Long-Distance and Cell Phone Control via the App

The Luxus, as part of the KIIROO network, also offers a free app to control the vibrator via cell phone.

This gives you more ways to use the vibrator, essentially, turning the LuxHer into a standard smart vibrator. It has the usual app-controlled functionalities, but you probably purchased the Luxus set for the unique distance functionality. Still, it lets the LuxHer function as a solo or long-distance play vibe, giving you another way to play.

The nicest feature of connecting the Luxus to an app is the “Custom Mode”.

This “Custom Mode” functionality essentially lets you add a favorite “mode” to the manual, button-only control of the Luxus.

Essentially, when using the manual buttons on the LuxHer, when you first turn the toy on, it will go into blue-light Bluetooth mode. The next button press will go into this Orange mode, which will be your Custom Mode when you set it up. This doesn’t eliminate the issue of way-too-many modes when I’m struggling to orgasm and want to easily go to a steady intensity at the bottom of the list of modes, but it does make it easier to shortcut into a type of pleasure that works for you. (Right after this Orange Custom Mode will come the Purple Distance Mode.)

Screenshots of the Luxus app. The main screen of the app shows different ways you can control the vibrator. For my Luxus review.

Depending on how you like to use the toy, when setting up Custom Mode, you’ll either be routed towards choosing your favorite patterned vibration settings (for solo use) or able to customize the Speed Mode or Distance Mode to best fit your preferences.

Within the app, as a Custom Mode, I still can’t get Speed Mode to work at all.

Getting the Distance Mode set up as a Custom Mode, and setting the vibration intensity to what I wanted, was probably the best part of the app controlled functionality for me. It drastically makes manual control of the vibrator much, much more pleasurable.

(Fun fact: You don’t have to sign up for an account with the Feel Network KIIROO app in order to make this Custom Mode. All you have to do is download the app and pair the LuxHer. For this Luxus review, I already had the app from my KEON, but it’s really a very easy set up.)

Speaking of, pairing the LuxHer was easy as pie. Like all KIIROO experiences I’ve had with this app, it pairs flawlessly and in seconds as long as your Bluetooth is on. Zero frustration and the majority of the functionality on the app is available and ready to use without creating or logging into an account.

Screenshots of the Luxus app. It's an error screen that doesn't allow access to that feature. For my Luxus review.

Like most app-controlled vibrators, pairing the LuxHer to the app also will allow you to:

  • Control a steady vibration mode’s intensity, using a finger to drag and drop anywhere from 0 to 100 in intensity
  • Create custom patterns ahead of time then letting the LuxHer follow those custom patterns during use
  • (Uniquely KIIROO!) Watch a selection of porn while the LuxHer’s vibrations sync to the porn action on the video. There are a few “free” videos built into the app, but you have to subscribe to the FeelX website for a full range of options. (All free options were all heterosexual, very-straight, male gaze porn.)
  • Make the LuxHer’s vibrations synchronize with ambient noise, providing vibrations that match the noise the cell phone is picking up. (Great if you have a speaker system playing music or listening to an erotic audiobook out of the speaker. This requires the cell phone’s mic to pic up the noise, though, so it must be played on an external speaker of some sort.)
  • Adjust the brightness of the LED light and change around its colors (I could not get this to work. It led to an error page and crashed the vibrator every time, shown above.)
  • Grant permission to a partner to control the vibrator intensity via an online interface on the cell phone app (requires account)
  • Provide a texting, photo, and video chat functionality for sexting while the person is controlling the sex toy (requires account)
  • Pair the LuxHer vibrator with the functionality of a KIIROO stroker or other KIIROO toy, allowing the two toys to sync up their sensations for mutual shared pleasure while apart
Screenshots of the Luxus app. There are multiple adult video screengrabs shown that can be sync'd with the vibrations of the LuxHer vibrator. For my Luxus review.

All of this provides new, app-full ways to use the sex toy you already own, and it offers “value added” fun if you’re getting the Luxus, but none of it really builds on top of the LuxHer-to-LuxHim unique selling point that the sex toy set is built with. It, essentially, starts treating the LuxHer like a standard app-controlled vibrator. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but if that’s what you’re after, you could also just pick up a KIIROO vibrator at 2/3rds the cost AND get more power from it.

As previously noted, the LuxHim (cock ring) has no online functionality or motor, and it does not gain any benefit from any of this app-controlled stuff.

As part of the KIIROO network, camgirl functionality is built into the toy, and if you’re someone who also does shows for work, the Luxus allows that.

Screenshots of the Luxus app. It's the Touch Control screen, allowing you to drag and drop the intensity level of the vibrations with just the touch of a finger. For my Luxus review.

That being said, for the average couple, I’m not necessarily sure this was an important add-on. Bluetooth tech (and app development and security) requires regular upkeep, and it definitely raises the cost of the set. It’s there whether you want it or not, so you might as well use it, but I hope I can eventually see a “No Bluetooth” version of the Luxus for couples who want to save some money and don’t need the functionality.

The LuxHer and LuxHim are resting against once another. The image closes up on the branding etched into the silicone sides of both items. For my Luxus review.

Lux Review Product Details

Both the LuxHer and LuxHim toys are made from silicone and are waterproof for easy cleaning. The LuxHim does not have a battery or motor, and the LuxHer has a rechargeable Lithium battery with 5 hours of playtime (oh, that’s nice!) with a charge time of 2.5 hours.

The Luxus set comes with the LuxHer, LuxHim, 2 adhesive stickers, a finger grip, a charger, and a white drawstring pouch for all of it. At this current time, you can only repurchase the Adhesive Stickers. It does not look like any of the individual other items can be repurchased on their retail store.

Final Thoughts: Luxus Review

The Luxus is going to be a good couple’s vibrator set for a select group of couples. If you fall into that group, you’re probably going to find the Luxus life-changing. It’s going to provide hands-free pleasure that rises and falls with the natural rhythm of penis-in-vagina intercourse in a way that (literally) no other vibrator on the market does. It literally doesn’t exist in any other toy. (Hence why this sex toy review is offensively long.)

The couples who are going to love the Luxus the most will:

  • Want to have penis-in-vagina sex. Penis-in-butt sex will not work with the Luxus.
  • Not want any added stimulation for the penis owner.
  • Want to have hands-free clitoral pleasure.
  • Primarily have from-the-front intercourse, as it works especially well in Missionary.
  • Have mapped out some of their favorite sex positions, and they can see ways where a clitoral vibrator would get in close proximity to a cock ring worn on the base of the shaft.
  • Be open to adding the Luxus harness to their purchase. Not only reusable, but it’s also studier and more reliable than the hands-free adhesive.
  • Be willing to experiment with positions and uses to get the most out of the Luxus. You are not likely to have easy orgasms straight out of the box with the Luxus. You have to learn some of its tricks.
  • Like the idea of playing with the value-added app-controlled functionality. They may occasionally be apart from one another and love the idea of long-distance play.
  • (Clitoris owner) Enjoys/prefers/needs to have constantly changing vibration intensities.
  • (Clitoris owner) Don’t need wand massager power or rumbly vibrations to orgasm.
  • (Optional clitoris owner) Enjoys/prefers/needs to have regular breaks from vibration in order to best enjoy vibrations. Some of the Distance Modes completely turn off vibrations (for a quick break) on the outer-most part of the thrust. This is pretty unheard of in sex toys.

However, if you don’t fit into that ideal audience, the Luxus may not be a good fit. What it does, it does well, but “what it does” is also a relatively small box.

The LuxHer and LuxHim sits out next to a jewelry box. A sensual blue light glows throughout the entire image, putting the whole image in blue. For my Luxus review.
