This white, powerful wand massager comes packaged in a long, simple cardboard box. This box is pretty basic (and a little obnoxious-looking) with bright blue and gold lettering all over a good chunk of the box. The box, however, is relatively informative, and it’ll provide information about the basic features of the wand massager before purchase. The box isn’t made from a particularly sturdy cardboard, but it’s strong enough to last as a storage container for the box. Just don’t stack any heavier boxes on top of it. The Wonder O Wand comes with the massager itself, a small instruction booklet, the 1-year limited warranty, and the charging cable. The plain cardboard box, however, is recyclable.
Like many other wand massagers on the market, the Wonder “O” Wand Massager follows a predictable pattern. The wand massager is long – especially for the comparison of other sex toys. The “handle” is made from a slippery plastic while the head of the massager is entirely covered with silicone. The base of the massager offers a charging port (which has no way to cover it when not charging), and the handle of the massager offers three buttons for control on one side. The design looks suspiciously close to the Rechargeable Magic Wand.
Unlike many other wand massagers, however, the Wonder O Wand Massager is entirely rechargeable. The charging port is at the base of the massager, and it can simply be plugged into a wall to charge it. This charging cable is a full plug-in cable – not just a USB one – and it plugs straight into the wall. The instructions say that it takes about 3 hours to do a full charge (and a light goes on to indicate when it’s charging). The light will turn off when the vibrator is fully charged. I haven’t had any problems with the wand dying on me during use, and we’ll usually use it for about 40 minutes then charge it after each use. With a strong, powerful toy like this, you definitely will want to charge after each use if you want to minimize the risk of the toy shutting off mid-use. The instructions also clearly state that you can’t use and charge the toy at the same time, so if it dies mid-use, you’re out a vibrator – so plan ahead!
This wand massager offers a simple control structure. It has more customization options than the cult classic Magic Wand, but it’s still just as easy to control. There are three buttons on the handle of the wand. One button solely controls the power (on or off), another button will change the intensity level of the current mode you’re on (low or high), and the final button cycles through modes (either patterns or steady vibrations). As a very helpful addition (especially if you’re not using the wand on yourself), there are four blue lights on the handle near the control buttons. These lights show you a real-time update about what vibration intensity (out of the 4) the wand is currently on. This makes it really easy to figure out how much power you’re providing to whoever is experiencing the wand.
Now that you’ve learned how to use the wand, how does that power level match up with the title of “wand”? It’s a pretty good fit. The Wonder O Massager isn’t quite as strong as the Rechargeable, Cordless Hitachi, and it’s certainly a bit away from the plugged-in Hitachi version, BUT as a rechargeable wand massager in its own right, it does a whole lot better than a lot of the options out there. Most people will likely comfortably stick in the power level 2 or 3 range, but 4 is available when you want a quick orgasm. The vibrations are definitely pretty rumbly and deep – just like a wand massager should be.
With regards to other popular wand massager questions: While the silicone head of the wand massager doesn’t have much “give” to it when bent in any direction, the vibrator doesn’t lose power when the vibrator head is bent either. It’s also worth noting that the Wonder O Wand massager is pretty noticeably top-heavy as well. The entire massager is over a pound in weight, and when you pick it up, you definitely notice that the majority of that weight is in the head of the toy. If you’re resting the head against yourself or in a downward manner, you might not mind the heft of the toy as much, but if you’re holding this toy up against someone or are in otherwise in a standing position, the toy can get hefty after awhile.
However, with great power, usually comes great noise. Despite the manufacturer’s intention, that’s still the case with the Wonder O Wand. Don’t expect it to be quite as rumbly as the original, plug-in Hitachi Magic Wand, but it definitely is louder than most standard vibrators. It will definitely be heard in the same room, no matter what is playing in the background. Even with loud music/TV on, it would likely be heard through a door (on the higher settings) if someone was trying to snoop.
It isn’t, however, loud enough to distract from play. It’s not a rattling, annoying noise. It’s just the loud, persistent hum of the vibrations themselves. Don’t expect to be able to use it in the house with thin walls and nosy roommates, but it’s not loud enough to need you to turn up your adult movies much louder than they already are.
One of the biggest benefits of this wand is the silicone head. While immense power is something that quite a few massage wands offer, the Wonder O Wand Massager sets itself apart by offering a silicone head. This material can be fully sterilized – unlike most other wand head materials on the market. For those who play with multiple people or those who want to ensure their toys are as clean as possible at all times, this silicone head offers a level of clean that other wand massagers can’t top. And that’s why I love it so much.
I am one of those people who plays with multiple people at once. The idea of shelling out $60 on individual Hitachis for every person I play with – for hygiene purposes – sounds pretty costly. While the Wonder ‘O’ Wand Massager was designed to be splashproof, it wasn’t designed to be waterproof. Water can still get in at the base of the wand massager, so when you’re cleaning it, you need to be very careful to avoid getting water anywhere near the base.
If you get lubricant on the handle or want to wipe it down, I really recommend using a slightly damp washcloth and keeping the handle of the massager itself entirely away from the stream of water.
As this wand massager does have silicone on the head, you’ll have to be careful of lubricant choice (and go with water-based lube!) when playing with this wand.
As for storage, I personally like to keep it in the original box – but that’s just to keep the wand with its charger, so I don’t lose either. I wish the toy came with a travel bag of its own.
Overall, the Wonder ‘O’ Wand Massager is a lovely addition to your toybox – especially if you love extra-clean toys or play with multiple partners. Despite being cordless and rechargeable, the vibrations should still be more-than-enough for most people, and the easy-use button and easy-view lights make it really fun to use on a partner. The massager is a little top heavy, but as long as you take that into account when choosing your sex positions, you’ll barely even notice.
