Super Hot Sex Book

The front cover

Super Hot Sex is a sexuality book intended to be the sequel to “Super Sex”. It’s written by Tracey Cox and published by DK Publishing. The book is a softcover book with full-color, photography-quality pages. This book includes 192 pages and is divided into 7 chapters. Super Hot Sex is a book that is supposed to take your lust-life to the next level – as in, this book includes “kinky” ideas like sex toys, swinging, weekend getaways, bondage, and other things of the sort. The front cover shows a nude cover embracing with the title in large letters while the back cover shows a couple in a car with her hand holding her panties, so this isn’t exactly the most discreet book. I wouldn’t recommend reading this in public (though I did read it in our college club office.)

I have to say that I really enjoyed reading Super Hot Sex. It’s not like I haven’t heard of all of this information – I have. It’s just that the author (Tracey Cox) put it all in such a personal and friendly manner that it was an enjoyable read. Random paragraphs were dedicated to her personal experience to the topic, and she brought some humor to other topics. Even when a paragraph seemed dedicated to the topic at hand, she’d use parenthesis and throw in a side quotation that made me giggle, laugh, and smile. The author did a great job of portraying sex in a fun, light-hearted manner without seeming flighty or getting too clinical and boring. I’d easily say she is one of the more amusing how-to sex authors out there along with Violet Blue.

The neatest thing about this book is probably the layout and all of the pictures. Unlike other sex books which tend to be pretty boring or just have black and white text with random pictures, Super Hot Sex actually has some amazing qualities. For one, there’s quite a few different full-page pictures. In some places, the pictures are a full two-page picture. For the most part, almost every other page is a full-page picture with some exceptions. This makes the book more fun to read.

Along with the pictures is the colors. Not every page is white. It seems to alternate between white pages with black text and black pages with white text. A pink color is usually used as an off-color to emphasize points. Switching between these two main colors as well as the design of the book makes this look amazingly modern and easy to read. I never once felt bored while reading this book. In fact, I only wanted to put the book when I had to – I never put it down because of boredom. The layout, along with the amusing text, made this book actually a pleasure to read instead of a chore.

The pictures inside of the book aren’t exactly discreet. There isn’t any full-on pictures of genitals, but I’d say it’s all suggested sexuality. The only nudity that’s shown is the breasts or an occasional butt. There is lots of full-body nudity, but a penis or vagina is never shown. All of the models in this book are worthy of magazine modeling and are of the weight. The women are skinny with large breasts and the men are very muscular. Nobody I’d consider “average” has a picture in this book. The pictures are pretty sexual though, so I wouldn’t consider this a good book to read at work.

The first chapter of the book is all about most of the basics. It includes information on why a couple would want to have some kinky sex, what sexual secrets help couples have good sex lives, and some tips on how to include better orgasms in your sex life.

The second chapter is all about desire and fantasies. It talks about how fantasies are perfectly normal, how you should accept them and why they are good for your sex drive. From there, it talks about some of the most common fantasies of men and women and even analyzes a couple fantasies as to what it might mean you’d want in a “real-life” sexual encounter. The book also discusses whether you should share these fantasies with your partner and some of the best ways to do it. My favorite part of this section is where the book gives some “common” fantasies and how to make them real, step-by-step.

The third chapter is all about enjoying sex in public. The entire chapter is places you could choose to do it, what the risk is, how to do it, and how to do the “wimpy” version in private.

The forth chapter is about kinky sex in general. It starts off talking about why anyone would want to have kinky sex and if it makes you weird. It includes a couple pages about how to talk to your partner about wanting it, then goes into information about bondage and crossdressing. It gives two pages about sex toys (which isn’t much) as well as two pages about anal sex.

Chapter five is about “really” kinky stuff according to the title. This chapter starts off with swinging including talking about just going to a club just to watch sometime. From there, we talk about women/women action, but no mention is made of man/man action. She gives another small section about talking to your partner and the best way to involve them in your fantasies. From there, we go on to talk about a page about the power play of BDSM. We then get a couple of pages about threesomes. Surprisingly, Cox doesn’t recommend threesomes – she says they cause bad emotional problems for most couples. After her warning, she does give some tips on how to hopefully avoid some of those problems though.

Chapter six is about “hippie” sex. She starts off by making fun of most “spiritual” sex by saying “Does anyone really ‘get down on all fours and pretend to be lions roaring at one another’? Please, god, tell me no.” It made me giggle and made me more interested in reading the rest of the chapter because she took such a practical approach to all of this. She lists the spiritual sex practices, talks about what it is, what the basic ideas are, what lessons it can teach you, and what lessons she isn’t sure are good about it. This includes Tantra, Kama Sutra, and Taoism. She then talks about how to have a full-body orgasm or to delay ejaculation. After that, we get the ten “best” sex positions which are relatively athletic, but most couples should be able to perform them. We then get a couple of pages about eating right and doing vaginal/penile exercises to improve our sex life.

Chapter 7, “A Little Something for the Weekend” is easily my favorite chapter. Tracey recommeds that you go out for the weekend every couple months, and included in this chapter is a “play-by-play” guide to things you can do during travel, in the hotel, out in public, or things like that to make your weekend special and sexual. She recommends trying to make it always sex-filled, but says even picking one or two things can make it fun. From there, she then gives small descriptions of sex games you can play with household objects such as shining a flashlight on a body part, then your partner has to “pay attention” to that body part for two minutes – then you switch. The book ends with the 10 all-time best hand-job and oral sex techniques (five for her, five for him).

I really can’t praise this book enough. I can’t. It wasn’t too amazing in “unique” content, but the content that it’s giving is presented in an enjoyable, sexual way. It makes it enjoyable to read and makes it all sound fun to try. The advice seems to be accurate, and if a not-so-kinky couple was looking to spice up their love lives, I’d recommend this in an instant. However, if you already know what you are interested in doing (bondage, S&M, threesomes, etc.), you may benefit more from buying a more in-depth book. This focuses nicely on lots of topic areas for a good explanation of multiple topics, but doesn’t delve too far into any one. If you are interested in Super Hot Sex, this sex toy store sells it along with Sexy Extras and Books and CDs.
