The We-Vibe 3 is the newest installment in the We-Vibe series. Made of silicone and rechargeable through the recharging base, the We-Vibe 3 is a toy with a flexible middle that allows it to easily provide dual stimulation during intercourse in a hands-free manner.
The packaging is really unique for most vibrators. It comes in an oval-shaped box that stores the charger, the toy, the instruction booklet, and the charging case inside of it. The box looks beautiful and tasteful on the outside of it, but it’s obvious that the box wasn’t meant to be used for storage as it’s quite a bit larger tha the sex toy itself. As a change from the We-Vibe 2, the We-Vibe 3 also does not come with a storage bag. As I will be keeping it in the travel case for trips that it comes with, this does not bother me, but if you didn’t plan on using the case for storage, this means you’ll want to get another storage bag for your toy.
The We-Vibe 3 has a couple of changes from its previous brethren which you can read about in my We-Vibe 2 review. For one, it’s completely waterproof instead of being splashproof. For two, it has a 90-minute recharge instead of the previous longer recharge. It also comes with a charging base that recharges it instead of plugging it in. It’s supposed to be 40% stronger than the We-Vibe 2 as well, and of course, the BIGGEST change is that the We-Vibe III is controlled by a REMOTE instead of having to actually press the button on the toy itself as was with the previous We-Vibe 2. The dimensions and the material of the toy did remain the same, though.
The We-Vibe 3, just like the We-Vibe 2, is a rechargeable vibrator. Instead of recharging through the plug-in port like the We-Vibe II did, the We-Vibe III charges via a charging base. The base wirelessly charges the toy AND the remote. No batteries for either of them which is fantastic as a lot of remote-controlled toys require batteries for the remote. The lid to the charging base slips on to keep the toy looking discreet, and while it won’t keep the toy and remote in the base if you turn the base upside down, it does hide the toy from view and protect it from picking up messes.
The We-Vibe 3, as a new feature, is controlled by a remote control wirelessly now. This remote just has one single button, but that single button will cycle through all of the vibration settings just like the button on the We-Vibe itself does. The neat thing about this wireless remote is that Standard Innovations also chose to include the button on the We-Vibe 3 as well, so if you don’t want to use the wireless remote, you don’t have to. The wireless remote does not require batteries, and it charges up in the same charging base as the We-Vibe 3 does.
One of my bigger issues with the previous We-Vibe 2 is that, once lubricated, the buttons of the We-Vibe became really hard to work with. There is just one button, and it’s made of the same material as the surface of the We-Vibe, so pushing that button could be difficult once lubricated. Having the remote changes things though! I don’t have to fit with the button, and during intercourse, I can just easily hit the single button on the remote in order to change the settings. No reaching between bodies, no asking for no movement – just easy-peesy remote use.
The vibrations are supposed to be 40% stronger than the We-Vibe 2. This may be true, and the We-Vibe 3 vibrates more roughly on a desk as compared to the We-Vibe 2, but you really can’t tell from holding them which one is stronger. You definitely can’t tell during use either. I’d say that the 40% strength bonus to the We-Vibe 3 is a plus, but I wouldn’t be depending on that small addition to strength to be the new feature that makes or breaks this toy for you.
The best use for this is definitely during sex with your partner. As nothing has changed with the actual design of the toy, the We-Vibe was created in order to slip into the female’s body during intercourse to provide internal stimulation, clitoral stimulation, stimulation for him, and still have enough room for him to fit comfortably during intercourse. You definitely want to lubricate this product thoroughly before you insert it to make things slide around as nicely as possible, but it definitely does a great job of adding an extra dimension during intercourse. My We-Vibe 2 is the only vibe I use during actual intercourse, and now the We-Vibe 3 will take its spot.
It isn’t strong enough for orgasm with the clitoral vibrations for some women (myself included), but it is strong enough to add an extra something to stimulation. It makes intercourse more pleasurable and enjoyable, and while it may not get you to orgasm from the vibrations alone, it does make it so you can enjoy intercourse longer and get more clitoral pleasure out of it. It also works because it’s such a comfortable fit for the guy. We had no problem with both the toy and him during intercourse; the only issue we had is that, like the We-Vibe 2, the vibrations of the toy tended to make him feel a bit numb if we were having longer intercourse. With the We-Vibe 2, it was impossible to change to the vibrator off during intercourse because it got so slippery, but with the We-Vibe 3, you can easily use the remote to turn off the vibrator and help prevent that problem.
You can also use the We-Vibe 3 during masturbation, but it probably is not the most effective for that. It mostly was made for intercourse with a partner, and that really is where the We-Vibe 3 shines. It didn’t slip out during intercourse, it didn’t take up too much room, and it stayed situated pretty well exactly where I wanted it during use. It really was a pleasure to use!
So, we always want to know if the sequel is better than the one before it, right? Well, in this case, it’s a definite yes. If you like your We-Vibe 2 and use it on a regular basis, is it worth repurchasing the We-Vibe 3? Probably not. But if the button issues have kept you from using your We-Vibe 2 regularly but you did like it, the upgrade to the We-Vibe 3 is totally worth it. The addition of the remote really upped my love for the We-Vibe vibrator
Cleaning is really easy as the We-Vibe 3 is waterproof. You just have to use warm water and anti-bacterial. It’s a bit hard to sterilize because of how you’re supposed to use it, but you could attempt if you wanted to. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricant, and make sure to use quite a bit of water-based lubricant if you really want everything to go smoothly. For storage, it does pick up lint and hair relatively easily, so if you want the best results, just keep the vibrator in its storage case with the lid on. It can also charge there as well which is neat.
Overall, the boost in power won’t make you love the We-Vibe 3 if you had issues with the power in the We-Vibe 2, but the remote-controlled feature, the waterproof ability, and the new charging method certainly are much-welcome and amazing improvements from the previous We-Vibe 2. If you want a couples vibrator to be used during penetrative sex to give you (mostly) hands-free vibrations during penetration for extra pleasure, the We-Vibe 3 is still one of the best toys out there for it.
