Deia Hot and Cold Review

Welcome to my Deia Hot and Cold review. Have you been looking for a sex toy with built in temperature play?

For the past couple of decades, that’s just been fantasy.

But now? It’s reality. The Deia Hot and Cold is your temperature play vibrator go-to with the ability to heat up – and freeze up – at the touch of a button!

With a specially designed tip (which also happens to be curved for g-spot stimulation!), a press of a button on the shaft heats up the tip – or makes it frigid. Literally, it’s a press of a button – and you have a new temperature at the tip within 20 seconds.

To ensure you always get the temperature you want, the temperature buttons are distinct from one another with a “Snowflake” button kicking the vibe into chilly and the “Sun” button kicking the vibe into heating.

Sharing space with the control panel buttons is the button for the vibrations. The Deia Hot and Cold comes with 10 different vibration settings – which can be used alongside the warming and cooling sensations.

Made from body-safe silicone, the Deia Hot and Cold is rigid (no squishiness or bendiness here!) with a length of 8.51″ and a diameter of 1.57″ at the widest point.

Powering all of this fun is the Hot and Cold’s rechargeable battery. It takes 3 hours for a full charge – and that delivers 80 minutes of use time on the highest settings. We’ve never managed to intentionally run out the battery.

So, let’s dive into this Deia Hot and Cold review. Now that you know the basics, how well do these functions actually work?

Deia Hot and Cold Review: Does the Temperature Work?

Somehow, it actually works exactly as marketed.

I’ll admit to being a skeptic about a lot of “sex toy features”, but in the world of marketing, the Deia Hot and Cold doesn’t actually overstate its functionality. It can be frigid cold – or it can be luxuriously warm. Honestly, you can swap between the two functionalities on a dime with the toy acquiring the other temperature within 15 seconds.

That being stated, the temperature functionality is limited to the tip of the vibrator. See that flat, shiny spot on the tip of the vibe that doesn’t look like the rest of the Deia Hot and Cold? That’s the temperature pad. All of the temperature changes are localized there. You can feel a lil bit of the temperature within the top third of the toy, but there’s virtually no temperature change near the middle or base of the vibe.

Depending on how you wanted to use the vibe, this might be problematic for you – or it might be perfect.

That temperature pad area is a flat area along the tip of the vibe, so you get the entire tip (for heating or cooling) when pressed up against the skin. That area also happens to be the expected full-contact area for rubbing against the g-spot (or somewhere external like the clitoris), so if you’re using the temperature functionality, the primary “use” point of the vibrator will be the spot that feels the temperature the most.

That being said, if you don’t want to play with the temperature functionality, it isn’t required by any means. You can play with the Deia Hot and Cold, vibrations-only, for days when you aren’t desiring any temperature play. This means the temperature pad is never in the way of any other play you want to do.

Deia Hot and Cold Review: How We’ve Fallen in Love with It

I’ve never owned a vibrator that can make hot and cold on demand. I don’t actually think one existed before the Deia Hot and Cold. A few manufacturers have dabbled in temperature play (glass temperature dildo, vibrating ice cube bullet), but none of them have dabbled in a handheld toy that offers both warming – and cooling – in one toy, on-demand, via electronic functionalities.

That means the Deia Hot and Cold is pretty much the only modern sex toy made for temperature play.

So that’s exactly how we use it.

The flat head of the vibe can be pressed virtually anywhere on the body for instant temperature – hot or cold. (Or vibrations, too, but we’re focusing on the temperature play here.)

This means it was the perfect tool for blindfolding my submissive, tying them up, and tormenting them in the best of ways. The Deia Hot and Cold worked pretty much flawlessly for that.

I could enjoy stroking them with one hand – and keeping them nicely turned on and edged. But when I wanted to bring them back down to Earth, I had my spare hand, holding the Deia Hot and Cold, turned on the cold setting, to press onto a nipple or the perineum. Their jump reaction was worth every second of it, and it was a really nice juxtaposition to all of the pleasure.

When I wanted to be nicer, though, I held the Hot and Cold off of his body, gave it a few seconds while it warmed to the heating functionality, and pressed it back into that same spot I had frozen just a few seconds ago. Seriously, I’m so impressed by how quickly this vibrator swaps back and forth between temperatures.

The warming sensation feels a bit like dragging a fresh-from-the-dryer wool ball along your partner’s skin. It’s not soft and plushy – like clothing; instead, it has a firmness and rigidity to it. But it leaves a trail of that snuggly, “I want more” sensation along the skin. I’d honestly say it could be even warmer, but at the current snuggly warmth, you can leave the Deia Hot and Cold in one position for extended periods of time with zero concern about burning.

The cooling sensations definitely have more of a bite to them – but I think it’s because fewer people find “cold” to be a pleasant, friendly sensation. If you don’t have a visual on the Hot and Cold, it can almost feel like a knife being dragged along the skin (and I consider this a good thing for mindfucks!) It’s all of the shock and attention-grabbing of temperature without any of the damage.

If you leave it in place, your body does begin to warm up the cooling sensation, but if you pull the Hot and Cold off your skin and let it cool down again, it will feel frigid again when you press it against your body.

Neither function feels anything like a “warming” or “cooling” lube. Instead, the Deia Hot & Cold feels exactly like someone took a warm thing from the dryer (or a cold thing from the freezer) and pressed it on skin. No chemical sensations at all.

Of course, the Deia Hot and Cold has vibrations, too, so at any point, those vibrations can be flipped on to add even more sensation.

Deia Hot and Cold Review: The Vibrations

I have to admit: I’m not as impressed with the vibrations as I was hoping to be.

While we primarily love the Deia Hot and Cold for its temperature functionality, it’s always an awesome bonus when there are additional ways to fall in love with a toy.

In the case of the Deia Hot and Cold, I wouldn’t say that the vibrations should be a big selling point for selecting it if you plan on using the tip as your primary point for pleasure.

That’s because the vibration motor feels like it’s located down by the handle, near the control buttons. The vibrations are, most definitely, strongest there. I would guess that this is because all of the tech parts needed to control the temperature functionality needed to be in the tip.

This doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing. If the vibrator is inserted and pressed up against the g-spot, that means that the vibrations are primarily pleasuring the labia, vulva, and entrance to the vagina – which can feel amazing.

However, if your end goal is to primarily use the tip as your pleasure point (like for clitoral stimulation – or to press the tip up against a penis), the tip only seems to get about 60% of the vibration intensity that the base of the shaft gets.

Even leaving out where the vibrations originate on the Deia Hot and Cold, the vibrations aren’t particularly powerful. They’re not strong enough (when using the tip) to get me to a clitoral orgasm – even on the strongest setting. I can get there if I press the base of the toy up against myself, but that just feels weird.

Noise-wise, the Deia Hot and Cold features an additional clicking noise when the vibrations are on. I’m not sure what it is (possibly some of the heating/cooling elements getting jostled around?), but in addition to the standard “hum” of a vibrator, the Hot and Cold has a clicking noise as well. It makes it louder than it needs to be – but it’s nowhere near loud enough to be distracting (like with the Lovense Max). It’s just something you go “Huh. Okay” to before moving on. (I’m showing my nerd here, but it kinda sounds like a Geiger counter)

Despite the vibration motor’s location near the base, the thrumming on the fingers isn’t too bothersome while holding the vibrator. You definitely notice vibrations on your hands, but I’ve never come away from using the Hot and Cold with numb or weird-feeling fingers – and that’s not a statement I can usually say about vibrators with a motor so close to the handle.

So, for our purposes, which primarily include falling in love with the Deia Hot and Cold‘s heated/chilled tip, the vibrations aren’t located in the right spot for us to use them concurrently with the temperature functionality for clitoral, penis, and full-body stimulation.

If, however, you are planning to take advantage of the Hot and Cold’s g-spot curved tip, the vibrations will be located about where you want them for pleasuring the entrance to the vagina.

Summary

I fell in love with the Deia Hot and Cold for its temperature functionality. It’s super neat that it also includes vibrations, but my love is in the temperature play functionality. This has become one of my favorite teasing toys because of its quick-change abilities between warm and cold. It lets me offer up multiple sensations with virtually zero effort – and no melting ice cubes to contend with.

I’m impressed by how quickly the temperature swap happens, and while I was a bit disappointed that the temperature didn’t cover the entire shaft, I’ve actually come to fall in love with having a neutral gripping point while all of the variable temperatures stay nicely contained to the usable tip.

The Deia Hot and Cold vibrator adds something new to the world of sex toys – and that’s a claim that’s hard to make about virtually any toys anymore. It’s a temperature play lover’s wet dream – and it has revived my love of chilled and heated play sessions too. A+ Deia, A+.
