The first Tantus-branded wand massager has hit the market! Tantus, known for their amazing silicone dildos and other sex toys, brings one of the lightest wand massagers to the market. Designed to be mid-range in power with controls that are easy to operate and a toy that’s easy to hold, the Tantus Rumble seeks to do what other wand massagers really don’t: a focus on usability instead of pure power. This silicone wand massager comes equipped with 7 speeds of vibration and is USB-rechargeable. The head’s width is 2.4″ in width, and the massager’s full height is 8.5″. The toy weighs in at 6.6 ounces.
The Tantus Rumble comes in a package that has the same attention to detail of most Tantus items. However, it’s in a nice, sturdy cardboard box. This box, unlike many Tantus boxes, can easily be used for storage, and it will hold up a-okay to having items stacked on top of it as well. Inside the box, there’s a foam liner with a perfect vibrator-sized hole for the toy. The packaging also comes with the charging cable as well as the instruction manual.
With a pretty streamlined design, this silicone wand massager is focused on providing pleasure and doing it well. The silicone head is relatively broad in surface area, and most of the vibrations stay pretty focused there. There’s still some vibrating in the handle, but it’s not terrible. The two button areas along the shaft of the toy are distinctly separated – ensuring you’ll never hit the wrong one during use. The toy itself is relatively easy to handle, but it does still seem to require an angle that points away form the body during use to get the entire flat head of the wand massager to lay flat against the body.
It is worth noting that this is a uniquely-shaped wand massager head. It does not look like a cloned rip-off of the Hitachi. That being said, it also means that most Hitachi-designed head covers will not work with the Tantus Rumble. Tantus, however, DOES create other customized attachments for the Tantus Rumble. Of course, they’re all made out of pure silicone – and one of them is even designed to add the Rumble’s vibrations to many of the Tantus dildos that offer optional-use bullet holes.
Don’t worry about being tethered to the wall with this one. The Tantus Rumble is entirely rechargeable. There’s an open port at the base of the wand massager, and you just plug in the required cord to any USB port to charge the toy. Be aware that this port has no way to “protect” it, so it’s basically an open port to water or other gunk, so take particular care to keep the base of the toy away from anything liquid-like. A charge will give the toy about 4.5 hours of vibration time, so this isn’t a wand massager that you have to babysit. Depending on how long you take, you’ll easily get a couple uses out of the toy before needing to recharge it.
I’m pretty impressed with the controls of the Tantus Rumble. Unlike other vibrators that require “holding down” buttons in order to turn on/off the toy or access various functions, all of the button control on the Tantus Rumble is a single press-button design. One small click, and it’ll turn on or change the intensity of the vibrations. The toy has a dedicated “on/off” button as well as dedicated “increase/decrease” buttons, so it makes it pretty easy to use.
So how are the vibrations? That’s always the first thing people want to know about wand massagers. They’re pretty good! They aren’t on-par with the power level of the Hitachi, but they’re noticeable stronger than most non-wand vibrator vibrations. I’d say they’re a bit more “buzzy” and surface-level than I was expecting (especially for a wand massager), but they aren’t weak, and they’re likely to be more-than-enough for most vibrator users. They probably won’t be quite enough if you’re used to the intensity of the Hitachi or other plug-in massagers.
Most of the vibrations the Rumble is equipped with are steady vibration patterns. Those tend to be my favorite, so no complaints here! However, it does have a few patterns that can be accessed if you continue to press “up” on the plus-side after hitting the highest intensity. This, however, can be a huge bummer if you’re enjoying the highest setting and don’t know it, and press “up” expecting more vibrations and get a pattern instead. Luckily, turning the toy off and then back on resets the vibrations to a medium intensity again.
The sound of the vibrations isn’t nearly as loud as other wand massagers either. At the loudest intensity, the vibrator can be heard in the same room – but it likely wouldn’t be heard outside of a closed door with any type of ambient noise going on. It gets a whole lot quieter when pressed firmly up against the skin. When held lightly against an area, it’s definitely noticeably louder.
Unlike many wand massagers, the Rumble’s vibration intensity doesn’t decrease when the head is bent at angles. It seems to keep the same intensity. You also can enjoy the same sensations when pressing the side of the head to the body as when pressing the top of the head. However, using the side of the head doesn’t offer as much surface area, so it may not pleasure as many places at once.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Tantus Rumble is noticeably lighter than most wand massager options. By a lot. If you’ve ever had wrist fatigue or have problems lifting a standard Hitachi magic wand because of the weight, you’ll love the Rumble. Even for most people, the lighter weight means you can easily hold onto the vibrator for long periods of time without feeling like your arm may fall off. For those with limited mobility, the longer handle means you’ll be more-likely to be able to get the Rumble in spots you want it. While you likely can’t operate all of the buttons while holding onto just the end of the toy, it does offer a whole lot more flexibility for using the vibrator if mobility has been an issue.
With the removable silicone head of the massager, the Rumble is one of the few (if not the only?) wand massager out there really designed for sterilization and perfect use between multiple partners. You don’t have to worry about covering the surface with a condom or other barrier. The head of the massager is entirely removable and made fully of silicone – so it can be boiled or water/bleach bathed to make this a suitable toy for those who love to play with multiple people. This would lend itself particularly well to poly couples and BDSM aficionados.
The Tantus Rumble is only splashproof – not waterproof. Being splashproof is still pretty impressive compared to most of the wand massagers out there. However, that does mean you’ll need to be a bit more careful when cleaning your newest wand massager. I’d recommend you pull off the removable silicone head for the best time cleaning your toy. It can be cleaned in the dishwasher, with a 10% bleach solution, or in boiling water once it’s off the massager (or just a gentle anti-bacterial soap!). The handle itself shouldn’t be placed anywhere near water. You’ll need to lightly wet down a washcloth and run it down the wand if you get anything on the wand itself.
Overall, the Tantus Rumble is going to be great for people who are tired of the unwieldy, annoying design of mainstream wand massagers (such as the Hitachi), but don’t require the pure power that the Hitachi puts out. The Tantus Rumble excels in all areas – except ridiculous amounts of power. It’s easier to use, clean, hold, control, and more. With vibrations are strong enough to be just fine for most users, but if you require the power that the Hitachi provides, this one may not be the best option for you. If you like the idea of stronger vibrations and are coming from most mainstream vibrators, however, I think you’ll find the Tantus Rumble to be a pleasant upgrade. Thanks to Tantus for providing this rechargeable wand massager for my Tantus Rumble review.
