DeLashe Review

DeLashe
The DeLashe sitting out. Gorgeous. I’m in love.

UPDATE AUGUST 2021: This glass flogger is no longer in production. If a glass flogger is still on your list of wants, I’d recommend looking up Etsy searches for “glass flogger”. I wouldn’t expect some of the same quality (this flogger is so luxurious), but you may be able to find other high-end options like this one. This review remains as a reference for those curious about this flogger. While you’re here, why not check out my BDSM advice, femdom advice, and my list of online submissive service activities?

The DeLashe is a gorgeous glass-handle flogger produced by Liberator that is about eighteen inches in total length. The handle is about eight inches long, and the soft, lambskin tails are about a foot long. This flogger is not the regular size of most dungeon floggers – this is actually a bedroom flogger and is smaller in length. The flogger tails come in different colors including teal, white, black, and purple. The tails are intended to be a flogger while the glass portion can either be a handle or can be used as a glass dildo. The glass handle is textured, and while you’d think it’d be a bit thick, it actually surprised me by being pretty small in diameter – about 3/4 inch. The texture on the handle makes it extremely easy to hold onto.

The packaging is pretty basic. The DeLashe comes with a small, suede-feeling drawstring pouch. It has two ribbons that draw in on both sides to keep the flogger from falling out. I ended up tightening it wrong, and one of my ribbons has already come out. I was saddened, but it still draws together okay. It was my own silliness that caused that, but aside from that, it will keep your flogger safe from scratches and harm. The flogger also comes with a small Liberator Love Artist Sex Positioning booklet that advertises all of their different products.

The handle is the most unique part about this flogger. It’s made of borosilicate glass – which basically means it’s made to be extremely strong. That type of glass also is known for breaking in chunks. Basically, if anything were to break it, it would break in half instead of shattering. I wouldn’t worry about that unless you drop it on the ground though – I’ve never heard of a vagina breaking a glass toy. So the handle can be used both as a dildo and as the handle for the flogger. The small diameter means that this could be used for anal as well as vaginal intercourse. I’d be a bit careful about using this as a dildo to make sure you don’t get the tails near any sort of mess that will stain them. However, with the eight inch length, most people won’t take the full length inside of them anyway, so you can just use the first five inches for your pleasure without having to worry about the tails.

Since the handle/dildo is completely straight, it doesn’t pleasure the g-spot at all. Since it is glass, so it requires a very little amount of lubricant (if any) to use it comfortably. The texture on the dildo can be felt very easily when used anally, but not so much when used vaginally. There’s a small bulb on the end of the handle that doesn’t serve much of a purpose aside from looking fashionable. When I first got the flogger, there were a couple glue marks near the tails, but just washing it made them come off just fine. It wasn’t any sort of problem. The glass itself is see-through and gorgeous-made with small waves throughout the body of it. Near the tails, the handle shrinks into a small piece where Liberator wrapped the flogger’s tails around the glass multiple times, and it looks like they glued each layer together. There’s about seven or eight layers of the lambskin material.

When used as a handle, the texture provides good friction that keeps your hand from slipping off of the handle. If your hand is sweaty or lubricated, though, it may not be very effective at grasping the glass flogger, so wipe off your hand before attempting – in case you accidentally end up throwing your role-play toy at your partner instead. The handle feels extremely comfortable wrapped in my feminine fingers with some room to easily spare, so women can wield this just fine. Men shouldn’t have any problem grasping it either though they may feel like the toy is small in their hand. Something of note: this glass flogger does not include a hanging strap. I want to try tying some fabric around the bulb at the end to see if it will hang, but I’m too frightened of it falling and breaking, so I will just leave it in the original pouch for storage. The flogger feels like it has weight, but nothing heavy. It has weight to it because of the glass, but the tails even it out pretty nicely, so this is not tiring in the slightest to wield.

Showing the softness of the tails

So what about the tails? I can’t rave about them enough. I seriously can’t. I take out this flogger and I pet it. On a regular basis. I own about twenty floggers, and these tails are by far the softest tails I have ever felt in my life. They feel like the most luxurious fabric you will ever touch. They almost feel so soft that it’s like reaching into a large bowl of soft amazingness and not really “feeling” anything. Like my senses don’t quite know what to do with the sensation – this is easily the softest kink toy I’ve ever seen or used. There are quite a few tails – not “mop flogger” proportions, but definitely about thirty or so. All of the tails are the lambskin material, and they seem to have even been softened further from that point. The tails are all attached to the same piece of material that winds around the glass handle, so none of your tails could come off. The point where the tails meet the handle is covered with a gorgeous design – some metal flower-like designs with a Swarovski crystal sitting in the center of each design. The design is not coming off. I’m not sure what they did, but I actually broke my nail while even just attempting to move the thing to see what it was attached by. So the design will stay on, and you don’t have to worry about losing your money over it.

So how do the tails feel? Like sex itself. Really. It feels amazing. They feel soft, sensual, and everything I could ask for in a bedroom flogger. I won’t let my boyfriend hit me with it since that’s not something I’d mentally enjoy, but I love hitting myself with it on my legs, arms, everywhere. While all of my body realizes that it is soft, you will have the best luck using it if you use it places on your partner where there are lots of nerves – like the hands – because it will be able to realize exactly “how” soft it is while other body parts won’t notice. The hands and other “not-regularly-touched” places on the body seem to have the “softest” experience. It’s the perfect sensual experience when used gently or moderately.

When used roughly, it’s still pretty much impossible to cause pain unless you don’t aim correctly. The only way to cause even a minor sting is to end up allowing the tails to wrap-around your target. This means they get more momentum than the rest of the tails, and they will cause a slight sting. Very, very slight. Otherwise, even when struck roughly, the sex toy’s tails just land as a large “group” that just feels slightly thuddy – not painful the slightest. It sounds a bit loud and a bit painful, but I promise, it really isn’t.

The size is the only thing that makes a large difference with this flogger. It is relatively small compared to most dungeon floggers. This means that this was meant to be used when you are near and/or touching your partner – which, surprisingly, is not how most BDSM scene floggers usually work. However, we’ve made it work just fine. It’s for those times when we aren’t doing a particular scene – just enjoying sex or masturbation or other things – during those times, we’re close enough that this is perfect for using but also doesn’t get in the way. Besides, nobody can admire the beautiful detailing from afar, so I like being closer up.

I’m protective of my flogger. I don’t want anyone touching it but me and the boyfriend. It’s gorgeous and soft, and I want it to stay that way. I’d avoid getting any sort of messes near this, and for god’s sake, if your subject is bleeding somewhere, don’t hit that spot with the flogger – especially with the lighter colors. To wipe it down, I’ve been used a very slightly damp washcloth on the tails and cleaning the handle portion with antibacterial soap and warm water – being very careful not to touch the tails. The handle can be used with any type of lubricant, but avoid harming the tails with it – and silicone-lubricant can be a bit of a pain to clean up. For storage, I’ve been keeping it in the storage bag that it came in. It appears that the tails don’t get harmed by being kept folded in half, so they look just fine with no creases, so I’m not worried about it.

If I was going to give the DeLashe rating in stars, I’d easily get five stars – if not more. Yes, it does have some problems when it comes to length, but any problem this flogger has is easily overshadowed by how amazingly and perfectly soft the tails are. You really can’t beat these tails – not in any of the twenty floggers I own. Considering that most handcrafted glass dildos (like the handle is) run in the seventies to eighties, you are getting a great deal having an amazingly soft flogger on it as well. The only thing I’d improve would be just to include the shown storage case with the flogger. I feel like the drawstring bag doesn’t do this luxurious toy the “storage justice” it deserves. This is easily my favorite flogger now – by far.
