Liquid Love Lubricant Review

Liquid Love Lubricant Review
All of the lubricants sitting on my window. They’re so pretty.

UPDATE MARCH 2024: These lubes are no longer in production. This sex toy review remains for anyone who is curious about it. While you’re here, why not check out some additional educational info – like online submissive tasks, beginner pegging positions, saran wrap bondage, and enema 101 info.

When I voiced my opinion about wanting to have a lubricant taste-testing party, I never thought that I’d actually be given the chance to do it. However, Pipedream Products shipped out mini bottles of their Liquid Love line for me to try out. I enjoy gathering up all of my friends, and with a panel of six different people (including myself) we sat around and taste-tested all the lubricants to see which one was best. We also brought in a couple Wet lubricant products to compare the brand of lubricant itself.

The mini Liquid Love bottles come in 1.25 ounce bottles. Each flavor is available in this smaller size. The bottles are really gorgeous and shaped in a little heart-shaped manner. Each bottle has a neat little pop-top which makes it really easy to pour out. The lubes come sealed with the little paper seal on top like most lubricants do. The bottle says “Liquid Love: Warming Massage Lotion”. Really. Each bottle does. This means that each bottle is not individually labeled according to the flavor inside. Once the original tag is taken off (which is hanging on elastic around the lid), unless you know what flavor is what, there will be no way to tell what flavor is concealed in each bottle which I thought was pretty silly. It may be because I received the product for review, but it honestly looks like it was made to happen that way. (I sincerely doubt anyone else is going to own all flavors of this lubricant, though, so that tends to make the problem a bit easier.)

Just in case you wanted to know, the ingredients are: Glycerin, Water (Aqua), Flavor, Sodium Saccharin, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid, Various Colors (not actually what’s included, but at that point, it’s the various color pigments depending on which flavor you picked up.) The only one that may cause problems is the Glycerin. Many women won’t react well to the Glycerin and it will cause a yeast infection. As such, this lubricant is only intended for external use. External use as in full-body or foot massages or genital massages (but not used for the actual act of intercourse).

One of the bottles up-close.

So how did we go about “playing” this kinky game? The six of us sat in a circle, and one person put on a blindfold. The person to the right of the blindfolded person picked out a lubricant for the blindfolded one to try. The blindfolded one had to try it and let us know what flavor it was. Then everyone else in the circle who enjoyed the flavor when in non-lube tried a taste of it as well. An odd thing to note, but honestly, not a single person was correct about their guess of the lubricant flavor. Not a single one. Out of twelve different lubes. Found it a little odd. I guess our taste buds suck.

The full line of flavors includes Blue Raspberry, Cherry, Chocolate Cherry, Cinnamon, Green Apple, Passion Fruit, Peaches N Cream, Pina Colada, Strawberry, and Watermelon. (For some odd reason, the coloring for the watermelon lubricant is purple. I thought purple was an odd choice for that.)

So what did we come up with? That they all taste like yummy flavored Jolly Ranchers. Pretty sugary sweet and tasty. Just like the candy though, every person seems to have their own preference. None of them were ridiculously “gross” in any manner, but some of them just seem like they were odd flavors to have put into a lubricant. By looking at the list above, I’m sure you can pick out which ones you think would be awkward. It really depends on your own personal preference – none of them were worth gasping and clawing for a bottle of water though. (We even brought some bottles of water out in case. No one opened them. Except my submissive who opened one when he was thirsty.)

So some general notes about the different flavors? (I took these down mid-game. I felt like a scientist.) The Cinnamon, while not tasting like cinnamon at first, does have a Cinnamon aftertaste. The gamers said it tasted like Big Red gum. I chose to skip this one because of my hatred of cinnamon-like tastes. Everyone agreed that this would definitely be a nice flavor.

Another bottle up-close.

The Strawberry and Cherry, unfortunately, have the normal problems with tasting like cough syrup. It was a very subtle taste of cough syrup, but it was still there. Personally, I love the taste of cough syrup, so if I was going to be using this in my own sex life, I’d go for the cherry. The chocolate covered cherry is mostly just a “meh” flavor. You mostly just taste the cherry with a very, very slight taste of chocolate. The chocolate seems to tone down the cough-syrup taste of the cherry though, but overall, it just doesn’t shine in taste.

The Peaches and Cream, everyone agreed, tasted pretty good. There was a question about why someone would want this flavor in a lubricant, but it does taste sweet in a yummy way. For some odd reason, the taste just seems to be the epitomy of what I’d expect in a yellow-colored lubricant. The Pina Colada was yummy as well. I prefered the Peaches and Cream over the Pina Colada, but everyone did comment that the Pina Colada did taste pretty true-to-life.

The general consensus was that the Blue Raspberry flavor tasted like the alcoholic beverage UV Blue. The person who tasted Blue Raspberry blindfolded did think that this one tasted like watermelon, but no one else tasted that. The Blue Raspberry was considered a pretty good scent.

Nobody liked the taste of the Passion Fruit. Not a single person. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t good either. I don’t think any of us eat Passion Fruit on a regular basis, though, so it could be a personal preference. The Green Apple tasted definitely like apples, and overall, was pretty yummy.

Something to consider about all of these lubricants is that they each have the warming property to them. When you taste them, be prepared to feel the warming sensation on your tongue. It’s a bit odd to get used to at first, but after you’re used to it, you’re going to find that it actually improves the taste of the lubricant quite a bit. When we tried the Wet Lubricants (Popp’n Cherry and Kiwi Strawberry), they just didn’t seem to have the same “oomph” as the Liquid Love line did – mostly because it lacked in the warming sensation and the lubricant actually tasted a bit cold. The warming definitely does add something to the taste. It never burns the tongue and nobody complained of it getting too hot.

Something to consider is that this may get a little uncomfortably sweet when used for oral sex. To avoid that, I’d recommend starting off with a small amount, and if you find that it doesn’t bother you, feel free to add more. It’s much better to use too little than to use too much and find out you can stand tasting so much at once.

The smell? Each one smells exactly like the scent it is supposed to. Honestly, it was really refreshing. The scents smelled sensual, and according to one of the group members, actually made her a bit hungry. None of the scents are overpowering, and they end up being a nice addition instead of a distraction during use.

As far as a final list, this is what we came up with in the end for preferences of the lubricants. The good were the Cinnamon, Watermelon, Peaches N Cream, Pina Colada, Green Apple, and Blue Raspberry. The bad (by general consensus) were the Passion Fruit, Strawberry, Cherry, and Chocolate Cherry. Like I said, I enjoy using the Cherry most of all, so it really is a personal opinion.

Overall? These are yummy, yummy flavored lubricants. I wasn’t expecting them to taste so good, but a mixture of the flavoring along with the warming really makes these a tasty experience. Some people may find them a bit too sweet, but I did find that they tasted mostly like a Jolly Rancher hard candy – not too much sweetness, but just perfect. The bottles themselves are gorgeous as well, and they can be placed in places just to look pretty.
