Spank Ties Review

Spank Ties
The packaging for the Spank Ties

UPDATE APRIL 2021: The Spank Ties seem to no longer be available. However, the product still has a manufacturer’s website. This bondage review remains as a reference for anyone interested in these quick-bondage options.

Spank Ties, from this sex toy store, are a really unique idea in bondage. Basically, what it is, is a flexible metal core that’s been wrapped in a very flexible rubber. This means that the metal core will twist and turn as you like and the rubber protects the person wearing it from being harmed with the metal. Each tie is about 32/33 inches long (I can’t get them to stay fully flat to measure. They always have small bends.) and each package of the Spank ties comes with two in a pack.

The packaging is pretty basic. I’m happy to report that there aren’t any naked girls or anything on the packaging. Instead, for pink ones (which I received) the packaging is black in the background with pink text and shows different ways that the ties can be used. The packaging is really nice, but the downside is that, really, once you take out the Spank Ties, they aren’t going to go back into the packaging very well for storage. The two ties come folded once in half sitting inside an open-ended “sleeve”.

Each tie is pretty much long enough to tie up two objects with it. Whether it be two wrists together, two ankles together, a thigh to a wrist, a wrist to a bedpost, a wrist to an ankle – each one pretty much has the length to only tie up two objects. With both ties that are included, this means you can tie up both wrists to bedposts or what-have-you. Because they are pretty tiny and can fold up really nicely, these do work great for travel.

So, I find these pretty amazing for beginner bondage, but probably not so much for advanced bondage. Because they can be very convenient to use and don’t require much practice or planning, these work great for sudden sex moments when the scene was planned out in the beginning. However, it’s definitely pretty hard to make your captive “stay” in these restraints. While they do curl up pretty tightly against the limbs, they don’t really “force” your captive to stay. They enforce the feeling of being in bondage, but they are still loose enough that your captive can squirm out of the restraints if need be. This is why this makes an excellent place for beginners to start. If you are nervous about being locked up forever with restraints, you don’t have to worry with these. While you can still be tied up, there’s really no way for you to be “stuck forever” in these.

They do a great job of being restraints as long as your captive isn’t trying to escape. If they are willing to not attempt to try and fight their way out, they work great. However, most subs I’ve found enjoy the struggle of attempting to get out – Jor does as well. Because of this, it doesn’t personally work that well for the two of us, but for a couple that wants to start off in bondage or wants something that’s more quick and easy than cuffs or rope can look into this.

Something we’ve been using it for is as a impact toy. When folded in half, it does have some decent hit to it. Granted, because of the bendy metal, you have to “reset” your toy every time you hit something, but it does give a nice punishment without actually being painful. Jor and our roommates have actually been enjoying making random things out of them just for the fun of it. Multiple “sword fights” have been had with the two of them attempting to figure out what the best way to make a sword is.

So how easy is it to bend? Pretty darn easy if you are using both hands. Using one hand, it usually will twist out of reach instead of bending like it’s supposed to. With two hands though, it’s not difficult to bend at all, and it does stay put. The box and the manufacturer recommend that you bend the two ties around each other for stability and strength at the end of your tie. From my experience, that’s what seems to keep the tie holding up well.

Cleaning is pretty easy. You just wipe it down with warm water and some antibacterial soap. It doesn’t seem to pick up dirt very easily, so you should be fine. For storage, I’d probaly recommend laying it out flat if possible. Because it was kinked in half during manufacturing and packaging, there is always a wrinkle in the rubber around that half-way mark. I’m honestly not sure where we’re going to keep ours yet.

Really though, these are pretty neat. They aren’t exactly the perfect bondage ties for Jor and I, but for a beginner couple, I could see these being a part of a fun sex life – especially when you consider that they are so easy to take on and off. For advanced players, this may not fill your need, but for beginners and couples who are looking for quick, flexible bondage, these Spank Ties fit the bill perfectly.
