LELO Insignia Lyla 2 Review

LELO Insignia Lyla 2
LELO Insignia Lyla 2

The LELO Insignia Lyla 2 vibrator is a small, portable wireless vibrator. Available in multiple colors, the Lyla vibrator is the one of the Insignia line designed for internal use and insertion. Made of pure silicone (with plastic areas), both the remote and the vibrator vibrate in this set. The vibrating insertable bullet is rechargeable while the remote requires 2 AAA batteries (included).

The packaging for the LELO Insignia Lyla 2 vibrator is beautiful and comprehensive like most LELO packaging. The outer box shows off the design of the vibrator as well as talks about its feature, and its inner black, cardboard box is very sturdy and discreet enough to store the vibrator. Inside the box, you’ll find an Insignia pin and the Lyla 2 vibrator stuck nicely in cut-out foam. Underneath this foam tray, there’s the warranty information, the instruction book, the key to unlock the remote cover, the satin storage bag, and the AAA batteries required for use. Also, there’s a sample-size of water-based lubricant from LELO.

I’m going to leave most of the basic design and functions for you to read in my Insignia Lyla review. You can read most of it there. This review is going to focus on the changes between the first-generation vibrator and this second-generation release.

The new Design Edition of the Lyla 2 is supposed to have a three-times-greater wireless range and 50% more vibration intensity. It’s changed to a default setting for when the signal is lost. It’s not a huge upgrade to the original Lyla, but considering it’s going for the same price, it never hurts to try the second generation, right?

The shape of the bullet vibrator

The Lyla 2 does seem to have a better signal. It does still cut out at points – it really depends on how you’re using it. If it’s just bedroom use, the signal tends to be okay. Even for in-house use, as long as you’re in the same room, it works alright as long as you aren’t wearing multiple layers of clothing. There are some slight delays to the signal if you and your partner are far apart – or if you are wearing lots of clothing. For self-holding the remote and vibe, though, I didn’t experience any delays or issues with the signal.

It goes without saying that it works better when used externally versus internally, but compared to the first release, it does work better internally now. After my first review, we tried using the bullet a couple other ways, and while I had intially used the wireless luxury vibrator solo and partner with my partner nearby, using it out in public had much different results. Once clothing was introduced to the mix, on the previous version, it tended to have much iffy-er signals, but a lot of that has been fixed with the Lyla 2. Is it perfect? No. But it’s still a lot better than the original Lyla.

The Lyla 2 also has improved vibration strength. I can’t say that the improved vibration strength is enough of a reason to run out and purchase this upgraded version, though. It’s noticable between the versions, but only slightly. And even with the upgrade, the vibrator is still only about average in vibration strength. It’s possible to orgasm with the vibrations, but like usual, it depends on personal preference. I personally didn’t find them strong enough, but if you’re more sensitive to vibrations, they may work better for you. It’s also good to consider the fact that the bullet vibrator can be inserted, and as most people don’t orgasm purely from internal vibrations, the strength may not be too much of a consideration for you.

Overall, with the same price tag, the changes are much welcome to the Lyla vibrator. The biggest change is the nice and improved range, and the vibrator seems to make a connection a lot more than it used to – and it works from a lot longer away. The vibration addition doesn’t make much of a difference, but if you have a choice between the original and this one, you should go with this one. In comparison to other wireless bullet vibrators, though, it IS one of the better ones – both in terms of design and in material safety. However, be aware that you do have to pay that premium cost for that product upgrade too.
