I gushed about the powerful vibrations and unique shape of the “old” We-Vibe Rave. Now, the company has released an upgraded version of the vibrator, complete with the same asymmetrical shape that made the original vibrator such a unique contender in the g-spot vibe arena. Is it worth the upgrade? How well does it work? Are the vibrations still impressive? Read my We-Vibe Rave 2 review to find out.

We-Vibe Rave 2 Review: The Basics

In an industry full of g-spot vibrators, the Rave 2‘s asymmetrical design is its claim to fame. Instead of a standard, uniform shape that gently curves towards the tip, the Rave 2 features an (admittedly) odd shape.

It’s one of the few g-spot vibrators that could be inserted sideways, and you’d still have the potential of massaging the g-spot. It honestly reminds me a bit of a curved biological penis with a slightly left-ward leaning curve towards the tip.

It’s hard to describe, so I’ll let most of the photos do the “talking” for me. Needless to say, the We-Vibe Rave 2 has an off-centered tip (that points to the left) with a shaft that shrinks and expands off-centered.

All of this is more customized through the We-Vibe Rave 2’s adjustable hinge joint. Right in the middle of the vibrator, there’s an adjustable hinge joint that allows you to tighten the angle of the Rave 2. This allows the Rave 2’s tip to achieve a 110-ish-degree angle instead of the light, 165-degree angle it has by default.

The We-Vibe Rave 2 is also equipped with two motors and over ten vibration modes. (The app capabilities drastically open up the vibration mode possibilities). One motor is located at the tip of the toy while the second motor is located about the mid-point, designed to hit the vaginal entrance when the toy is slid inside.

The vibrator is 7.6″ in length and made from body-safe silicone. It’s magnetically rechargeable with a use time of about 2 hours off a full charge. It’s also fully waterproof.

What Are the Differences Between the We-Vibe Rave and We-Vibe Rave 2?

Like many of the We-Vibe sex toy upgrades, the company added and upgraded a few things for the new release. Most notably:

  • Adjustable Hinge. The original We-Vibe Rave was the shape it was; there was no adjusting it. We-Vibe took their popular adjustable hinge design from the We-Vibe Chorus and added that to the We-Vibe Rave too. This adjustable hinge is located about mid-shaft on the Rave 2.
  • Second motor. The original We-Vibe Rave had a single motor at the tip of the vibrator. This new iteration has two motors. There’s one at the tip (again!), but there’s a second motor right underneath that adjustable hinge, on the end of the control panel. This second motor is positioned to sit at the vaginal entrance when the vibrator is inserted.
  • Waterproof Capabilities. The We-Vibe Rave 1 had a charging port for a pin charger insertion. The new Rave 2 has two magnetic ports, allowing for magnetic charging. This makes the We-Vibe Rave 2 waterproof instead of splash proof like the previous generation.
  • New Control Interface. The We-Vibe Rave 1 had three buttons to control the vibrations. The new Rave 2 has five buttons, using the familiar structure that’s on the We-Vibe Chorus’ remote.

Should I Upgrade to the We-Vibe Rave 2?

If you primarily use the We-Vibe Rave 1 for…

orgasms brought on by vibrations. DEFINITELY upgrade. The new We-Vibe Rave 2 adds a second vibration motor at the entrance of the vagina where there are a lot of sensitive nerve endings to be targeted. If you primarily use the Rave 1’s vibrations to wring out your orgasm, it’s worth the upgrade.

non-vibrating g-spot stimulation. If it’s already hitting your spot well, I wouldn’t worry about the upgrade. If it’s not quite there, I’m not sure the bendable joint will hold its shape long enough to make the Rave 2 a better fit.

the clitoral vibrations. I would say there’s no benefit in upgrading. The vibration intensities haven’t increased, and the buzziness in the hand grip has increased from the second motor.

easy clean-up. It might be worth the upgrade. The waterproof capabilities make clean-up so much easier, but if you’re not having problems with the current splashproof design, you may not notice the difference.

marathon sessions. Battery life hasn’t increased, so you won’t find much benefit in getting the new We-Vibe Rave 2.

Let’s Talk Design

The asymmetrical design made me fall in love with the original We-Vibe Rave. The company has continued that design, almost like a carbon copy, with the We-Vibe Rave 2.

That includes the rigidity of the silicone and the toy.

If you’ve ever touched the We-Vibe Rave 1, the design is pretty much the same. I can’t find any differences aside from the new, five-button control panel at the base of the vibrator.

Make sure you’re very comfortable with the diameter of this toy. The Rave 2 feels like it has a plastic, hollow “core” with a very, very thin layer of silicone surrounding this plastic core. This makes the vibrator fantastic for transferring vibrations, but it also means it’s going to feel very firm and rigid during penetration.

I find this a pleasant design as my g-spot responds really well to pressure and fullness, but the diameter of the toy feels pretty big with a material that doesn’t bend, squish, or compress in any way, shape, or form.

I enjoy that rigid design once the vibrator is already nestled up against my g-spot, but it’s definitely a toy that requires decent warm-up and a desire for fullness because it feels like a lot!

We-Vibe Rave 2 Review: Does It Hit the G-Spot?

One of the things I fell in love with on the original We-Vibe Rave 1 was the ease of stimulating the g-spot once you got the Rave in place. That continues with the We-Vibe Rave 2.

You see, my favorite g-spot toy (the Bent Graduate dildo!), requires a thrusting, in-and-out motion to stimulate the g-spot. This continually pokes the head of the toy into my innermost spot, but it requires a pretty decent use of my arms. And they can get tired.

The We-Vibe Rave 2 is designed to twist against the g-spot. Instead of pulling the vibrator in and out, you hold the g-spot toy against the g-spot then simply twist the base like you were opening a jar. This causes the asymmetrical design to rub the tip of the toy up against the g-spot.

It’s the difference between someone jackhammering their fingers into your g-spot and someone holding their fingers against your g-spot and simply twisting their wrist left and right while they hold their fingers there.

Both sensations are entirely valid and pleasurable in their own way, but I’ve found that a lot of people tend to have a preference for one or the other, and the We-Vibe Rave vibrator is one of the few toys that caters to the people who like that swiping motion.

Now, that isn’t to say that you won’t wear out your forearm twisting the dildo back and forth. On my masturbation sessions for this We-Vibe Rave 2 review, I had to swap between the Bent Graduate and the We-Vibe Rave 2 because both options tire out my arms in different ways.

But that’s just it: it’s definitely a different type of muscle use and soreness. Where thrusting the dildo in and out can feel more like a cardio and bicep workout, I feel the twisting of the We-Vibe Rave 2 entirely in my forearms. (For weight lifting nerds, it feels like a Wrist Curl – but in the best of ways!)

The We-Vibe Rave 2’s Bendable Joint

This new iteration of the We-Vibe Rave 2 also added this bendable joint at the mid-way point of the shaft.

I really thought I was going to fall in love with it because I find that most g-spot vibrators are too shallow for what I need. And in theory, I do love the We-Vibe Rave 2’s bendable joint. It allows the toy to shape into a much tighter, closer-to-90-degree curve that really hits my g-spot.

The problem is that it only hits my g-spot for a little bit.

It’s a tale as old as time: I bend the toy into the shape I want, and then I slide it inside myself. Since the g-spot responds well to pressure, I press the tip of that vibrator into the spot where I want it. As I continue to rock the toy against myself, applying pressure, it applies pressure in the opposite direction of the bent joint. The bent joint then straightens itself out.

And we end up with the We-Vibe Rave 2 that looks like the default, flat-ish version with a few minutes.

It isn’t the end of the world (as I previously noted, it still hits my g-spot with its twisting motion!), but I wouldn’t pick up the We-Vibe Rave 2 based on your excitement to use that feature alone. Any decent pressure to that bent shape of the Rave 2 will flatten it back out into its default shape.

(It happens when both trying to use it for g-spot pleasure or for clitoral pleasure. While trying to use it on my partner’s penis, it also happened. It doesn’t take too much pressure to straighten the toy back out. A lockable joint or bending that required very firm pressure may have been the better fit for this bendable joint.)

We-Vibe Rave 2 Review: What About Clitoral Use?

Oddly enough, the We-Vibe Rave was one of those g-spot vibrators that I really love for clitoral vibrations.

I really can’t think of another g-spot vibrator that takes that took that honor for me. The asymmetrical design, partnered with the broad surfaces of the tip and the powerful vibrations meant that the We-Vibe Rave 1 didn’t “fall short” for clitoral use.

I’m less-fond of the We-Vibe Rave 2 for clitoral use, and I’d probably pick a different toy. It’s not a power problem. This new generation still has the same power that I loved about the original.

Instead, it’s the new, additional motor designed to pleasure the vaginal entrance. This additional motor is located decently close to the control panel (after all, how else would it pleasure the entrance while fully inserted?).

While you can “turn off” this motor, something about the vibrations of the new Rave 2 mean that every vibration setting with the entrance motor turned off still can be felt in my hand.

This means that there’s a vibrator right by my fingers, continually vibrating, while I try to use the toy clitorally. It always leaves my hands feeling buzzy when I’m done, and this additional motor doesn’t really add anything to the clitoral experience.

I’d use the We-Vibe Rave 2 clitorally if I didn’t have an alternative, but it isn’t my first choice for a vibe for external use. Whereas I would have defaulted to the original Rave 1 for clitoral use if it was within reach, I will get my ass off the bed and grab another vibrator if the Rave 2 is the only toy within reach when I want external play.

We-Vibe Rave 2 Review: Let’s Talk Vibrations

Instead of the single motor of the Rave 1, the We-Vibe Rave 2 is equipped with two motors.

One motor is at the very tip of the vibrator, right where your g-spot will be.

The other motor is about mid-way down the shaft, closer to the control panel, in hopes of hitting the sensitive nerves of the vaginal entrance while the toy is fully inserted and doing its job at your g-spot.

Both motors appear to work in tandem; while there’s a button that allows you to swap between motors, I still haven’t found a way to make the tip or handle vibration-free. The vibrations from its partner motor still tend to “bleed over” into the spot where the motor may not be on.

The equipped patterns for the vibrator also play off this tandem approach with the vibrations bouncing back and forth between the motors to give you some “depth” to your sensations while the toy is inserted.

Like the original Rave, these vibrations are surprisingly strong! Almost every g-spot vibrator I play with tends to “phone it in” when it comes to vibrations. Some of the g-spot toy vibrations are honestly so gentle that they’re not worth turning on, and I have multiple g-spot toys that I’ll use without ever bothering to charge because the vibrations just aren’t worth turning on.

That isn’t the case with the We-Vibe Rave 2. The vibrations were clearly a cognizant decision from the manufacturer, and that decision was: “let’s give it a powerful motor”. And they did. The vibration intensity from the Rave 2 is deep, thrummy, and hits the exact sensations I want from my g-spot vibrator. Like the Rave 1, it’s impressive.

The g-spot motor at the tip is my faaaaavorite. It gets the vibrations exactly where I want them, and I’m over-the-moon with everything about it. They’re strong, deep, rumbly, and in the perfect spot. Zero complaints.

Packaging for the We-Vibe Rave 2. It's a pink and blue box with a modern design.

The secondary motor at the vaginal entrance hasn’t been a big winner for me. I want to love it. I want it to add to my experience, but I don’t think it does much for me.

Oddly enough, when I pull out my original Rave 1 and use it back-to-back with the 2, I find that I prefer the 1’s sensations. The secondary motor on the Rave 2 almost feels distracting from the g-spot sensations. Instead of having vibrations really pinpointed in one spot, those vibrations are thorough the entire toy, and it takes focus from my g-spot.

It almost feels like when I use the We-Vibe Nova 2 rabbit vibrator. (Which is still my TOP rabbit vibe, by the way). It’s hitting multiple spots at once, instead of being focused on the g-spot.

For some people, that’s probably, literally, the intent. Another erogenous zone? Why am I complaining?

I just find that I find it difficult to really focus on the g-spot pleasure (and climb to g-spot focused orgasms) when there are a ton of different things going on. With a rabbit vibe (like that Nova 2), I’m okay with that. I went into the experience wanting to be overwhelmed and hit all the things at once. With a g-spot vibe – especially one that encourages such up-close and innovative exploration on the g-spot, I really want to focus on the one spot I’m trying to get to know, and that secondary motor feels distracting to that goal.

(Probably the weirdest review I’ll ever give a toy for adding MORE pleasure. I’m even uncomfortable typing it!)

Like I’d expect from the veterans of the sex toy industry, the We-Vibe Rave 2 is pretty quiet as well. “Whisper quiet” is always overselling it, but it’s honestly surprisingly quiet. On the highest setting with both motors, it can be heard in the same room, but it isn’t loud.

It also isn’t grating or odd. It isn’t the type of sound that would make someone go “Huh?” and investigate through a closed door.

On the highest setting, with no other noise in a completely silent house, you can barely hear it through the door. If you add a bit of music or even open the windows to let in some outdoor noise, you can’t hear the vibrator through a closed door.

As far as two motors with powerful vibrations go, that’s pretty impressive!

…and It Has Online Connectivity!

As if that wasn’t enough, just like the original Rave 1, the Rave 2 offers online connectivity via the FREE cell phone app.

This means someone across the globe can control your vibrator for you (or someone sitting across the table too).

If interactive play with someone else isn’t necessarily your jam, it also means that you can explore additional options with the app like creating your own vibration patterns to set on repeat.

(Fun fact! The app also allows you to set a “maximum intensity” if you want to make the We-Vibe Rave 2’s powerful vibrations top out at a lower intensity. This allows you to play to your heart’s content (or give your partner that privilege!) without worrying that it’ll be TOO intense in the bad way!)

I’m also really fond of the fact that the We-Vibe WeConnect app offers multi-toy functionality. With We-Vibe’s large toy line-up, this means you can slide their We-Vibe Ditto+ into your bum while simultaneously enjoying the Rave 2 on the front bits, and you can control both, simultaneously, from the app. (Or let someone else have the honors).

This can also be done with a partner, too, if they want to enjoy the We-Vibe Bond on their bits while you’re playing with your own Rave 2.

Like all We-Vibe toys, I find that the Rave 2 connects to the app within seconds; the set-up and initial connection have always been pretty seamless as long as you follow the instructions on the app while getting ready to play.

Once there, the reliability of the app has improved since previous generations, but it still isn’t quite a seamless experience – especially when the vibe is slid inside a person. The Rave 2 listens to commands better when used externally, but it does deal with some delayed responses (or missed responses entirely) when the toy is slid inside a body.

Summary

I like the We-Vibe Rave 2, but for me, personally, I think I preferred the 1.

Weird, right?

The We-Vibe Rave 2’s big feature releases just aren’t things that are important to me. It’s weird, too, because I really thought they’d be important to me.

More motors? Yes please! A bendable joint? Heck yes!

But I find that the secondary motor gets in the way of my enjoyment of clitoral use of the vibe, and I’m not sure I notice it a lot while the toy is inserted. The bendable joint seems really fun at first, but it bends itself out of the shape really easily, so it doesn’t add anything to my experience.

But that’s when you compare the We-Vibe Rave 2 to the original Rave 1.

If you don’t already own the first generation, the We-Vibe Rave 2 is a fantastic toy for g-spot exploration.

The unique “twisting” motion offers g-spot sensations in a way that other sex toys really aren’t designed for. Have you ever figured out if your g-spot likes a left twist? A right twist? A broad head? A ledge? Have you ever intentionally explored the outer, side edges of your g-spot to see what fireworks you can create when you twist into the g-spot instead of coming from the entrance?

All of those things are things you can explore with the We-Vibe Rave 2 with its asymmetrical design.

All the while, your explorations are supported by some surprisingly powerful vibrations that are targeted directly at the g-spot while you play. If you’re already a “vibrations on my g-spot” convert, you’ll love it, and if you aren’t, you’ll be able to explore how it feels – especially with patterned options that keep things feeling novel.

Would I recommend buying the Rave again if you already have the 1? No. I think you have all of the amazing aspects of the Rave already in your hands.

Would I recommend buying the Rave 2 for the first time if you’ve never tried it before? Heck yes. It’s a vibrator that offers deep, rigid pressure on the g-spot supported with powerful g-spot vibrations in a shape that encourages self-exploration and finding brand-new ways to make your body feel amazing.
