Two Knotty Boys Showing You The Ropes is a step-by-step illustrated guide for tying sensual and decorative rope bondage and can be bought at this sex toy store. It’s published by Green Candy Press. It’s 79 pages long and contains lots of information about rope bondage in those pages. It contains lots of information about knots, rope bondage, as well as 24 step-by-step ties with pictures. The pages themselves are regular pages and are all in black and white. I feel like the book could have gained something from using full-color pages instead of black and white. The book is pretty big in size for a book – it’s just the regular size of a magazine.
The front of the book shows an adult covered in various rope ties with white and dark red rope while the two riggers stand off-picture while adjusting the ropes on the girl. The back of the book is completely black except with white words on it that give short reviews of the book. You could possibly take this out in public since there is very little nudity in this book, but because it’s all about rope bondage, I’d recommend you just keep it at home.
The pictures in this book are all relatively clothed. For the most part, everyone in this book is clothed. The people are only unclothed when it needs to be – for example, to see the breasts just to see how to tie a chest harness around the breasts. However, it’s only breasts that are shown – never any genitals. For the most part, the girls in the pictures are all wearing bras and underwear – even if those are skin-colored. All of the models also appear to be female – probably because females are the most often used for rope bondage.
The book makes it extremely easy to learn how to do some of the ties shown in this book. It uses a couple neat features to do this. For one, each tie is illustrated with a black and white step-by-step picture showing each step in the tie. The pictures are even-numbered just so you don’t get confused. Underneath each picture, there’s a small cation about what exactly is being done in the picture. The small amount of reading and the easy-t0-follow pictures makes this extremely easy to follow the pictures to do a rope bondage tie – even the first time.
Each tie is started off by a first picture that shows the final product of the tie. It also gives the name of the tie as well as a short paragraph about what the tie does and why people use it. From there, it talks about the optimal length of rope that should be used to do the tie. It also gives a good rope diameter to use with the tie. The larger ties recommend bigger diameters while the smaller ties (wrists, ankles) recommend smaller rope diameters.
The book starts off with the information about safety – just like it should. I always wonder why sex toy books don’t start with safety and cleaning information when so many BDSM books do. The dos include those things that everyone has heard about – two fingers room between the rope and the skin, don’t attempt suspensions without training and lots of knowledge, do take it slowly. Lots of the basic information.
After that, you get lots of information about the rope itself. First they talk about the different kinds of rope and their different properties and what it’s best used for – they do cotton, hemp, and nylon rope. After that, they talk about the different diameters that are best to use as well as the different lengths. It talks about the difference in lengths, what they are used best for, and just what makes it enjoyable. After that, it goes into a nice, lengthy section about how to secure the ends of your rope depending on what type of rope you have. It’s really nice, includes pictures, and talks about nail polish, burning, knotting, electrical tape, and whipped ends.
The first chapter of the book is all about knots. It explains the basic knots in step-by-step manner that makes it easy to execute the knots. Most of these knots are basic knots that the ties in the book will later utilize. It also gives instructions on how to do chain braiding which is recommended for washing your rope and possibility storing it – depending on the type of rope.
The next chapter has the “Basic Bondage” chapter. It starts off with two really simple ties that will allow you to easily tie wrists and ankles to the bedposts on the bed. The next tie is really awesome and teaches you how to tie around a high-heel shoe to tie the foot to the bed. After that, you learn how to tie the two wrists together, then you learn how to tie one wrist for leading around. Then you learn how to tie the ankles together, then you learn how to do a really basic bondage body harness. The last tie in this chapter is a tie that ties the two arms together behind the back.
Honestly, this is the first book I ever read about rope bondage about a year ago. I learned how to do a lot of the ties in this book, did them enough to memorize them, and I still do some of them now. Overall, it’s really easy to learn, and even after first picking up rope (some really crappy nylon rope from Wal-Mart) and borrowing this book from the local BDSM group, I was doing bondage that very night with help from this book. It definitely helps a beginner learn how to do some good stuff.
The next chapter is all about Decorative bondage – bondage that is used just to look pretty more than just to be practical. It usually will still bind someone, but it’s meant to look gorgeous while doing it, so it may take more time to complete the ties than the ones in the basic bondage chapter. First you learn how to do a neat little rope corset that will cinch in the waist, then you learn how to do make rope “sleeves”. After that, you learn how to make a pretty chest harness then learn to make two different decorative chest harnesses.
The third chapter of ties is about Dominance Bondage – bondage meant to show submission. The first tie shows you how to tie someone’s hands behind their back from over their head, then the next one mixes a corset harness with wrist restraints in the back that will allow you to control your partner. After that, there’s a fancy-looking hogtie tie then a neat rope bra that also works as a leash. For two little unique ties, it includes how to make a ball gag as well as how to make a bit gag at this point. The chapter ends on a rope tie that ties up and immobilizes the entire body.
The last chapter is all about sex bondage. First it shows how to tie someone down to a table, then it shows how to tie someone bending over a chair. After that, you learn how to tie someone sitting down on a chair and finally – how to make a rope strap-on harness for vibrators or dildos.
So do I like it? Yes. It’s a great book that teaches rope bondage, and it’s enjoyable to read. I appreciate the captions, the step-by-step pictures, and the beginner-style rope ties that are included in this book. It makes it so even a beginner can pick up this book and learn the ties that are included within – and that’s something that can be hard to find in the few rope bondage books that are out there. If you are looking for a book that will help with learning your first rope bondage ties, this is a great book to purchase.
