UPDATE MARCH 2022: I’m impressed to find that the Tantus Charmer is still being made. It still remains as a good dildo if you’re looking for something super slender for penetration.
The Tantus Charmer is a silicone dildo that is body-safe that is made by Tantus. This small dildo includes ridges along the edges for an interesting texture, does not have a bullet hole at the bottom, and does include a base that makes it harness-compatible and anal-safe. It’s about seven inches long, and at the widest point, it has a diameter of a little over an inch.
The packaging for the Tantus Charmer looks like all of the Tantus packaging. It comes in a clear box with all fo the details and features of the dildo listed on the outside. The packaging is not discreet, but it is still very classy and traditional, so it makes the dildo look more like a consumer-item instead of a novelty item. There’s also cleaning and care instructions on the packaging as well.
The Tantus Charmer is a beautiful, pearled purple dildo that has little ridges along the side of the dildo. In what is a very unique design, the head of the dildo is actually the largest in diameter while the toy gets smaller towards the base in width. The Charmer is flexible and not very rigid. This isn’t too big of an issue, but if you want to use it anally, it does require a bit more finangling and pushing to make sure it goes in comfortably. It’s flexible enough to contour to your body’s curves, though, which is always a nice feature.
This Tantus toy does have a base that makes it harness compatible. This base does NOT have a bullet hole in it like a lot of the Tantus toys do. Instead, this base is completely flat. You can hold a vibrator against it if you want to add vibrations, but it won’t vibrate on its own. Since the tip of the dildo is the largest in diameter, it also happens to weigh the most as well. This won’t make too much of a difference, but it’s something worth keeping in mind when you use it with a harness as it won’t stand straight up like you might expect it to. Instead, it does droop a bit because of the weight. This does not effect the use, though.
This dildo has a slight curve in it for g-spot pleasure and easier insertion. However, I can’t say that I got too much g-spot pleasure out of it. I usually don’t, though, so don’t take an indication out of that. My body just tends to be more awkwardly arranged than most other people’s g-spots, so what works for most usually doesn’t work for me. However, it did work great as a vaginal dildo as it’s flexible and conforms nicely to the curves of your body while still being easy to thrust and pleasurable. We used it as an anal dildo as well, and we weren’t quite as fond that way. It was just a bit too long for him, and he said the length was a bit uncomfortable. However, this is definitely something that we’ll pursue more vaginally as it’s small in width (like I enjoy!) and has neat ridges. In case you want to use it for oral use, the dildo does not have any taste or scent, so it’d be possible.
The ridges are the neatest aspect of this dildo though. During use, these can definitely be felt, and they add an interesting texture to the dildo. They feel the most pleasurable when the ridges are used while facing the stomach, but you can use them upside down as well. The largest ridge is the ridge along the head, but the smaller ridges on the rest of the dildo are still noticable and pleasurable. The ridges do seem to require a bit more lubricant though, so I highly recommend using a bit more than you normally would on non-textured dildos.
Cleaning the Tantus Charmer is easy. You just have to use warm water and a mild, silicone-friendly soap. Like all Tantus dildos, this one can also be sterilized by boiling, bleach, or washing it in the top shelf of the dishwasher, but the warm water and antibacterial soap work well for regular cleaning. The Charmer fits easily into a condom for safe-sex protection as well. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricants and high-end silicone lubricants, but as always, do a spot-test before attempting use with them. For storage, it does tend to pick up a bit of dust, so I highly recommend keeping this in a non-lint storage pouch or just washing it before use.
Overall, the Tantus Charmer has an interesting ridged texture that sets it apart from other dildos. I really like the fact that it’s so slender as well, but if you enjoy the feeling of fullness, this one won’t do it for you. The silicone is nice and plushy and flexible as well, so if you need more rigid g-spot stimulation, this one is just a bit too flexible. However, I really do like the look and feel of the Tantus Charmer, and this will be a regularly-used dildo for us.
