10 Years of Use: Spareparts Joque Harness Durability Review

Spareparts Joque Harness Durability

Especially when making a high-dollar purchase, one of my bigger questions is usually “how long will it last?” or “will it break quickly?” Especially in a global economy where quantity is the goal (over quality) for a lot of the products you can find, it’s not a bad question to be asking.

That’s why I’m popping back in here to show you how my Spareparts Joque strap-on harness is holding up – TEN FREAKING YEARS LATER. On February 17th, 2010, I posted the original Spareparts Hardwear Joque harness review for this harness. That means I, presumably, probably received it in late 2009 or maybe even early 2010. So, it’s officially over ten years old (holyshit?), and, as a quick update, it’s still the harness is use most-often. As-in, 95% of the time I’m pegging someone, this is harness I’m using. It fit a 210-pound body, and it fit a 395-pound body. It seriously is a magical harness.

Why? Because it’s freakin’ amazing. This is a durable strap-on harness that’s so damn easy to use – and even easier to clean. Just step into it, wrap the velcro straps around my body, and boom! Set to go. I always feel awkward in some of the leather options which require unbuckling and then rebuckling all of the straps before I can snugly get inside and get to the “put it in the butt” part (that’s my favorite part).

When the sex is over, the Spareparts Joque also has another clear win: it’s machine-washable. The pictures you see are from TEN YEARS of this beautiful strap-on harness being humped in, tossed in a lingerie bag, and washed in the washer AND dried in the dryer. (Spareparts does not recommend drying them in the dryer, but I am a lazy ass who was willing to rebuy the harness earlier if I broke it.) But yeah, ten years later, after the laziness of care, the harness is still up and kicking.

How often do I use it? About once a week. At the very minimum, 3 times a month. So, no, it isn’t a daily use, but it certainly isn’t sitting around in a closet. Its traveled with me across the US (and Canada!), and its helped me be the center of attention as the dick-wearing presenter teaching classes about pegging. Aside from the few times I switch to an intricate leather custom strap-on harness for lingerie-ish purposes (never for actual intercourse as I worry about the cleaning), the Spareparts Joque has always been the harness of choice. IT’s been there for ten-minute sessions, and it’s been the choice when I wanted to wear my strap-on cock the entire day.

Durability of the Spareparts Joque

So let’s talk about how the Spareparts Joque is doing – ten years later – functionality-wise.

The O-ring, despite being stretched constantly with my inability to say “no” to giant fantasy dildos, is doing a-okay. It still fits my 2″ diameter toys just fine. Somehow, the O-ring is going strong despite some loose threads around the area that really show the strap-on harnesses’ age. As a general rule, though, if the toy is particularly large (in the fantasy toys’ 3″ diameter range and such), it gets removed from the harness ASAP after use, and I never “pre-load” those dildos into the harness either. I know it’s a stretch for the built-in O-ring, and I treat it as such, and the O-ring has continued to treat me well in return.

The material of the Spareparts Joque has some pretty noticeable pilling of the fabric, but that’s likely due to my lazy care cycle, and it doesn’t affect use at all. It’s mostly only pilled on the interior parts, so it doesn’t really even display when I’m wearing it. Other than the pilling and a couple loose threads, none of the material has ripped or become unfunctional at all. It definitely shows its age, visually, but functionally, it’s just as spritely as the day I bought it.

The velcro hip straps work just as well as the first day I got them. They’ve become a little less “absurdly grippy” over the years. As-in, it takes a gentle tug to reposition them now instead of the rough tug that it used to take.

I thought the elasticity of the under-the-thigh straps would be showing its age by now, but nope. Despite it having to support my giant-ass thighs pretty constantly, it’s still pretty supportive. I do have to adjust the thigh straps more often than I used to to get a really snug fit, but really, the fact that the elastic is still working great is astounding. (I actually like it’s ‘aged’ variety a bit more. The under-the-thigh strap edges used to cut into the skin a bit more. As the harness has softened up a bit, the edges of the straps have lost a bit of their “bite”.)

Moral of the story and point of the Spareparts Joque review? Ten years later, the Spareparts Joque strap-on harness is still going strong – which is astounding. I’ll be pegging my sub in it next weekend, and it’s still 100% my harness of choice.
