Please Sir is a Cleis Press erotic novel edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel. It’s formatted in the regular Cleis Press erotica book format and has 213 pages. This is definitely one of the longer erotica novels I’ve read, so you do get your money’s worth. This is an extremely new erotica book with the publication date being in the year 2010. In those 213 pages, 22 stories are contained which leaves each story at about ten pages. The front cover depicts an attractive woman in a dark red corset with the book title in large font. The back side shows the same picture with some words describing the book’s content. Overall, not exactly a “discreet” book, so this is probably not something I’d take out in public.
The entire theme of Please Sir is “Erotic stories of female submission”. All of the submitting in this book will be done by females – although there is a story of an instance of a Pro Domme submitting to one of her male Dom friends. While not all of the males in the story happen to be Dominants 24/7, they all (vanilla or otherwise) take on a Dominant role during the sexual action.
The book, overall, contained some really sexy stories that were arousing. I won’t say that all of them were arousing, but it was an odd mixture. Most were “extremely sexy”, a couple were “bore inducing” and then another couple were just “interesting to read, but not arousing”. Many times, the stories were definitely good enough to, even when I had planned to put down the book after reading the current story, I continued on to the next story since the previous one had left a good taste in my mouth. There were a couple that just didn’t keep my attention enough; I wanted to skip the story, but in the interest of the review, read through the full story.
It’s worth mentioning in case you didn’t figure it out, but all of the stories in this compilation are written from an omniscient point of view or from the view of the submissive woman. This is possibly why I had a hard time getting into a couple – they were all written about the loving of submission, how arousing it was, and why they loved submitting to their male master’s penis. Not exactly my cup of tea, obviously. Good for “research” purposes – not quite so amazing for an arousal purpose. Because of that, I have a hard time downrating for those couple unarousing stories – they were written well, but the submissive mindset isn’t, obviously, a fetish of mine. Jor liked them though, so I’m pretty sure it’s a personal thing.
I’m not sure if this needs to be stated either, but all of this book is female submitting to males. No variance on that. No homosexuality or transexuality or threesomes or anything. Just the male and the female. Sometimes the couple is outwardly kinky and BDSM-y, other times it’s just a vanilla couple playing around with kink. Sometimes the couple is married, sometimes the couple is just friends or dating.
The plots are semi-over the place. They really end up being about the same thing – focusing on the male/female domination aspect, but they take place in different locations with different actions leading up to the domination. The domination is sometimes just verbal, but many times, it does include impact toys like canes or hand-spanking. Sometimes it includes bondage as well, but it’s mostly just the impact toys that make an appearance. Sometimes sex or masturbation is involved – sometimes it’s just the Domination and submission aspect.
One of the neatest stories (and one that I’ve heard a lot about from other reviewers) is the first story called “Anticipation” by Shanna Germain. It’s about a long-distance couple. The female is traveling the roadside on another continent, and when she logs into her Instant Messenger to talk to her Dominant, he tells her about how he’s remodeling the apartment with kinky ideas in mind like whether the headboard could be used to tie her up. It’s a pretty hot story, and the Instant Messaging aspect makes it unique.
In “Long Time Ago” by Heidi Champa, a woman returns to her high school reunion purely because she wants to see the man she had sex with a long time ago. He was the only man to give her the Domination she desired, and as you can imagine, they meet up at the reunion and have a repeat performance in a hotel room.
In “Knot Here” by Yolanda West, a kinky couple goes out to a diner to push their boundaries. The guy ties up the woman’s hands with rope under the table, and he slides his foot between her legs while she’s ordering – making the waitress a little confused about what they’re doing or if she’s being kidnapped. After going through the entire meal with her hands roped together, they go out to the car where they can’t wait any longer and go to the back of the diner to have sex. Turns out the waitress has become an audience member.
In “Mommy’s Boy” by Doug Harisson, a Pro Domme is talking to a male Dom friend after a scene they did together on a submissive. The conversation turns towards dominating the woman, and she happily agrees while he bends her over a spanking bench. Watersports is included in this story, but I really didn’t mind.
In “Masochist on Vacation” by Aimee Pearl, a female submission wants to learn her service ways, so she agrees to meet up with a Sir to purely provide service. She goes the extra mile beforehand and wants to make sure she does the best that she can do. She spends the weekend doing errands for her Sir, and the final climax of the story is when her full-body massage turns into an anal massage for him. This story ends with her realizing how much service makes her relax and how much she enjoys it. While I can’t say that I found this story arousing, I chose to include it on my review because it provides an amazingly unique viewpoint on pure service in BDSM. The writer did an amazingly awesome job, and it was a great read despite not being aroused by it.
“Walking the Sub” by Salome Wilde is probably the most unique story out of the bundle. It’s about a male Dominant who, in true BDSM fantasy (really, a lot of kinksters wish this could happen in real life), takes his female submissive out on a leash and for a walk in the park. A relatively long story, but it’s a nice one including public blowjobs, public sex, voyeurs, and lots of other fun, kinky things.
So overall? I liked the book even if some of the stories weren’t the most “amazingly erotic thing I’ve ever read”. They still provided a unique look into a female submissive’s mind and were well-written. None of the stories were lacking in taste. As you can see from my list of “favorites” above (which I had to cut down on), there are quite a few hot, sexy stories that easily make picking up this compilation worth your time.
