UPDATE DECEMBER 2022: The “Masterclass: Blow Jobs” book appears to be discontinued. This review remains for people who are interested in looking up information about this sex book. While you’re here, why don’t you check out my BDSM advice, femdom advice, BDSM scene outlines, and 24/7 chastity training plan?
“Masterclass: Blow Jobs” is a sexually explicit book about how to give blowjobs published by Erotic Review Books. The entire book talks about how to give blow jobs successfully and improve your current technique. The book is hardcover on the outside and does include full-color photo-pages on the inside of the book. The book is much longer than it is tall, so it may not fit comfortably in all bookshelves – it’s about nine inches in width with about five/six inches in height.
The book is only 91 pages long, so it’s a really short read – especially when you consider all of the pictures that are included in the book. I’d say this book took me a half-hour (at the most) to read through the entire book cover-to-cover. The front of the book shows a woman staring down at another body (probably a penis that isn’t shown) and the back shows text about the book. Because of the pictures included in this book, this is IN NO WAY suitable for public reading. At all. But because it’s such a short read, it’s easy to read at home in your downtime.
I was really surprised by all of the explicit pictures in this book. And I mean explicit. In most of the books I read, there are softly photoshopped, sensual-looking pictures. In this, not-so-much. It always shows the action exactly how it is. These pictures almost always just show a disembodied penis (which is kinda frightening since all you see is the penis and pubic hair with no face or body attached) with a woman’s face doing something to the penis. The lighting, while well-lit, is a little harsh which makes the pictures look a little rougher than they needed to be. The pictures were kinda off-putting at first, so I honestly didn’t look through the sex book as soon as I normally would have. If you know you are interested in giving a blowjob, the pictures help, but if you are just curious/not-quite-sure, the pictures do make it a bit frightening-looking, so keep that in mind.
The book itself is a quick overview of how to give a good blowjob. I’m not impressed with this book as a “Masterclass”, but it did cover most of the bases about giving a blowjob. Because it was such a short book, though, it was not amazingly detailed nor specific. You’d get a good start on a lot of basics, but if you wanted to learn more about any one topic, you’d have to seek out other, more detailed, sources. However, if you enjoy giving blowjobs and just want to brush up on some other techniques, this book is worth looking through.
I was a little surprised by the format of this book. It almost reads like it’s a PDF file or something like that – the text looks obviously like it was in a word processor at some point, and the pictures don’t have borders or seamlessly integrate with the text. It isn’t a big deal while reading it, but I was a bit surprised when I’m used to reading large-publisher books.
The book covers some of the aspects of giving a blowjob. It’s arranged in a manner that makes it really easy to skip over sections you don’t care about. First there is the introduction, then techniques, then positions, then “all in the best possible taste”, then a conclusion as well as a dictionary of slang words and pictures and fiction.
The introduction and conclusion are pretty boring – and if you ask me, a bit unneeded for a book this short. The techniques section is interesting enough – it describes techniques that you can use as well as shows pictures of each technique. It isn’t “step-by-step” or anything, but considering some of the other blowjob books I’ve read only show a banana, this is definitely a step in the right direction. The techniques section also includes stuff about things like deep throating, humming, playing with testicles, playing with the butt, and including food with your blowjob playing. (Including some pictures of champagne and lollipops with a blowjob)
The sex position section isn’t very thorough. It does list the basic positions as well as show some pictures of women/men in the positions, but it’s nothing out of the ordinary. It lists on-your-knees, woman-on-top, man-on-top, and 69. It talks about what people would like in each position – like if you felt dominant, didn’t trust him too much, wanted to feel submissive, in public. I’ve seen better positioning guides though, but this does a good job with the basics.
The most unique aspect of this book is easily the Gallery and Fellatio Fiction section included at the end of the book. It’s twenty pages of a collection of pictures and erotic fiction about blowjobs. Each one of the picture pages included multiple pictures per page which gives you a lot to look at. Each of the stories that is included is two pages long. Most of the pictures included are illustrations and art.
Since the book is done with a hardcover cover, I’d imagine it’s going to last a long time. This will be a book that will be around until you spill something on it or toss it – the pictures are done on nice, high-quality paper too, so you don’t have to worry about your pictures fading too much either. (EDIT: DECEMBER 2022: Yep, the book is still in pristine shape a decade later!)
Overall, while Masterclass: Blow Jobs by Alice Metcalfe is a good book, I wouldn’t call it amazing. It will give you the basics of sex advice, and it also provides real pictures which is something most other books don’t do. However, it really only does provide the bare basics which can leave something to be desired if you consider yourself experienced with giving a blowjob.
