If you could enjoy hands-free pleasure that made your toes curl and let you experience that cult classic “can’t stop an orgasm in public” feeling, would you do it? Depending on your prostate’s sensitivity, that might be in the cards for you with this app-controlled prostate massager. If that sounds like a good time, jump in with this Lovense Edge 2 review.
The Edge 2 is a dual-motor, app-controlled prostate massager. It features one motor in the tip of the insertable portion with a second motor at the thickest point of the base (designed for perineum stimulation). Both motors offer only vibrations (as opposed to Lovense’s Ridge, which has rotations at the tip).
You can get those vibrations exactly where you want them with the adjustable design of the Edge 2. At the slimmest insertable portion in the retention area, there’s a bendable joint. This bendable joint allows you to adjust the exact angle of the connection of the insertable portion and the base portion. This can let you get a tighter, or looser, angle to better fit where your prostate is in YOUR body.
Once the Edge 2 is in place, it’s controllable via the single push button on the base or the app-controlled design. It’s a Bluetooth prostate massager, and it can be wirelessly connected to the free app. This unlocks a whole lot more ways to play than the simple 7 built-in vibration modes if you single-press the button on the base. (Honestly, the majority of the functionality of the Edge 2 comes from that app, so I recommend setting it up if you’re comfortable with it. At least once. More on pre-loading patterns via the app later.)
The Edge 2 has a battery life of 60 to 90 minutes with a magnetically-charged rechargeable design. It’s waterproof with a one-year manufacturer’s warranty in case of any hiccups.
An Adjustable Design…How Does It Work?
The Lovense Edge 2 contains a single “joint” to customize the angle of attack on your prostate play. This “joint” is at the thinnest point of the toy where the two bulbs meet the long, horizontal base. Simply grip both ends (the base and the insertable portion) and gently push or pull the Edge 2 into the angle that works best to hit your p-spot.
This joint has quite a bit of rigidity to it, and it makes very small, incremental changes. It doesn’t easily unfurl itself, and it requires two hands and a fair bit of pressure to change the toy’s shape.
This rigidity means that the adjustable angles are relatively limited. This isn’t a bad thing. While you can only adjust it within a 25-degree range, it ALSO means that the Edge 2 stays there really nicely. The tightness of the material doesn’t allow for a huge adjustability range, but it does allow for a toy that stays exactly where you put it once you get it there. Even when inserted, rocked on for an hour, and removed, the angle is still exactly where we placed it. I have to unbend the Edge 2’s angle to neutral again in order to fit it back into the foam cut-out in the box.
It’s hard to tell exactly where the intended adjustable range ends, however, so make sure to bend slowly. When in doubt, try to compare it to the marketing material for the toy. The tightness of the material can make it difficult to tell when you’re going “beyond” where the toy was designed to bend.
P-Spot Orgasms Galore
We’ve found that prostate toys tend to fall into two camps for us: pretty good or “you’ll pry this prostate massager out of my cold, dead hands”.
I was expecting the Lovense Edge 2 to fall into the “pretty good” camp. It has powerful vibrations with an adjustable design that should help us get it snuggled into his p-spot. It doesn’t, however, have any built-in movements (like the Lovense Ridge does) or an extra-large size to partner those vibrations with an overwhelming feeling of fullness.
After three weeks of testing for this Lovense Edge 2 review, though, I’m happy to report that it surprised us both by falling into the “you’ll pry this prostate massager out of my cold, dead hands” camp.
I’m going to be honest: we’re not entirely sure why. Something about the powerful vibrations partnered with their adjustable placement makes this toy REALLY work. I can honestly say this is the only prostate massager that we’ve regularly run out its battery on a single play session. (That’s a complaint for later but also a genuine compliment in a household full of https://kinky-world.net/category/sex-toy-advice/.)
Something about the shape of the app-controlled prostate massager and its powerful vibrations means that he’s having multiple hands-free prostate orgasms in a single session. We thought it was a fluke the first time, but it’s now been 7 different sessions with the same outcome. He finds that laying on his back with his knees pulled up to his shoulders nestles the Edge 2 into the best spot for hands-free orgasms with this prostate massager. He wiggles around in that position a lot as the toy works its magic, but it seems to work.
Unless someone is actively holding the Edge 2 inside the butt during the most-powerful orgasms, though, it does pop itself out with the muscle contractions. You might want to explore a butt plug harness or push a laundry-friendly blanket or pillow up against the butt to help anchor the toy in place if you’re playing truly hands-free.
The only downside: the built-in patterns on the Edge 2 haven’t been our jam (they’re a bit too short and repetitive).
As soon as we start exploring longer patterns with help of the cell phone app, though, he goes wild, and we’ve found that we can really enjoy lots of long, drawn-out scenes with this without him going numb. Most vibrating toys tend to numb his body after awhile, but with some of the longer patterns we’ve created on the app, he can go for over an hour easy.
Luckily for us, when connected to the Lovense app, you can create your own vibration patterns AND save those patterns into the toy’s internal memory, allowing you to access a few select patterns in the toy even when it isn’t connected via the app.
So, essentially, it’s a prostate massager that makes him go absolutely weak-kneed and wild, forces him to lay down because the sensations make it impossible to stand, delivers multiple prostate orgasms every time we use it, AND seems to be able to go for over an hour without numbing him.
Honestly, it’s everything we’ve ever wanted in a prostate massager. If anything, it slightly annoys me that we haven’t been able to pinpoint the exact reason why this one is such an out-the-box winner, but it’s taken top-spot for anal vibrations in the bedroom for virtually every use we have for it.
Let’s Talk Battery Life
The Lovense Edge 2 offers an hour to 90 minutes of play off a single charge. While this is respectable, it’s honestly a bit underwhelming for Lovense. If Lovense hadn’t already made its name for creating toys with unbelieveably long battery lives (like the 5 hours on the Lush 3 or the 11 hours on the Hush 2!), I’d think nothing of the Edge 2’s 90 minutes.
But as mentioned above, we actually managed to take the toy from a full charge to dead within a single play session.
This is honestly a testament to the toy itself; very rarely do we want to play with any toy so long, but when partnering the Edge 2’s app control and pausable patterns with our play, it’s really easy to wear this prostate massager alongside a full BDSM scene for constant bursts of pleasure.
The battery life is pretty standard in the sex toy industry, but it just means that planning to scene with the Edge 2 adds a “charge the Edge 2” to our to-do list ahead of time.
Lovense Edge 2 Review: Made for Public Play
The Edge 2 has become a great public play toy for us. Like everything Lovense, the app’s reliability and functionality, partnered with the somewhat quiet vibrations, make the Edge 2 a great choice for me when I want to tease over a cocktail at a local bar.
Because this app-controlled prostate massager has been ridiculously powerful for us, we have to use the app’s built-in vibration intensity control. Designed for cam stars who don’t want to numb themselves or orgasm too easily while trying to enjoy themselves on shows, the Edge 2 has built-in ceilings for the vibrations.
You can adjust these ceilings to adjust how intense/gentle the maximum and minimum vibration intensities are on the toy.
This means I can turn the “maximum” down to 40% or 50% of the toy’s built-in potential without affecting any of the patterns or play on the app.
Once I set up that ceiling, the toy simply doesn’t utilize its full power. While I use the app control to change the vibrations at a moment’s notice, the ceiling setting means that what displays as 100% is now only 50% pf its power. It allows me to have the full range of all of the wireless control settings without limiting my control while simultaneously ensuring that it won’t get to a point that’s too intense for him to handle.
(For femdom play, it’s also visually hotter. Showing him as I slowly swipe upwards, making him watch and feel as the toy gets stronger and stronger until I’ve maxed out the power has a better visual than if I’d had to stop at the 50% mark to moderate our public play intensity.)
The Edge 2 is a little louder than some of the other Lovense sex toys we own (though the Domi 2 is still MUCH louder!), but it isn’t offensively so. I wouldn’t take this out to a quiet coffee shop for public play, but the noise has been undetectable in the semi-empty cocktail bars and bar and grill restaurants that we’ve brought it into while putting together this Lovense Edge 2 review.
In case you’re unaware, Lovense has put a lot of development into the functionality of their app, and it really makes it one of the shining stars out there for public play. In addition to the power ceiling functionality, it also has a hidden “music player” mode. When placed into that mode, the Lovense app disguises itself as a music player on your lock screen, allowing you to control the vibrations and sensations without fully unlocking your phone and without anyone being the wiser about what you’re doing.
Partner this with the Edge 2’s really reliable connection to the app, and you end up with a toy that’s pretty quiet, responds effortlessly in case of emergency, and offers a whole lot of pleasure.
Lovense Edge 2 Review: Easily Connects to the App
One of the big things that draws people to the Lovense ecosystem is the online connectivity via the free cell phone app. Honestly, it’s one of the biggest things that causes me to recommend Lovense again and again; no other company can really compete with the Lovense’s wireless reliability AND functionality via the app. While other companies have decently reliable toys or lots of app features, none do it as streamlined and as dependably as Lovense.
That also applies to the Lovense Edge 2, wouldn’t you know it.
The Edge 2 connects in seconds to the free app with a few button pushes. Like every other Lovense toy I own (and there are a lot of them!), there was no problem with set-up. The set up has been reliably quick enough for me to be comfortable setting the toy up in the middle of a scene. I wouldn’t do that with any other app-controlled vibrator brands.
Once connected, the entire Lovense app is open to you. Unlike other cell phone app manufacturers, every Lovense toy has access to virtually the same functionality within the app. While its resulting pleasure may change (for example, speed control on the Calor will control thrust speed versus the speed control on the Domi that controls the vibration intensity), almost all of the same functional options are available. This makes it really easy to swap between any of the Lovense toys and still know exactly what you’re going to get when you open the app.
And “what you’re going to get” is a ridiculously huge list. We’re talking about:
- Local control over your own toy.
- Granting long-distance control over your own toy to anyone with the app and internet connection.
- “Control roulette” that pairs you with another stranger using the roulette for both of you to control one another when you’re feeling like play right this second.
- Exercise that control via drag-and-drop functionality, live scrolling functionality, wiggling fingers functionality, and more.
- Group chat functionality with group sex toy control functionality if you find yourself with the best set of friends ever.
- Speed mode. If you’re a car passenger or out biking, it increases the vibration intensity based on how fast your GPS says you’re going.
- Synchronization to music on your cell phone with vibrations to the beat.
- (You can also sync the vibrations to ANY .mp3 file. Like if you have a downloaded AMSR music file you really like. ;) )
- Synchronization to a select group of online hentai and erotic video games.
- Synchronization to any sounds that the phone’s microphone can pick up.
- Other random apps inside the Lovense app (like Tetris or slash-fruit-game) that offer vibrations along with gameplay.
- An alarm that will go off via vibrations on the Edge 2.
- Vibrations to online YouTube videos.
- “Ninja Mode” that disguises the app as a music player on your Lock Screen.
Up to 10 toys can be controlled remotely at the same time with a single phone, so just something to keep in mind if you want to go for a full, long-distance sex toy orgy.
While the Edge 2 doesn’t have the sensors required for synchronized play where toys respond to one another’s movements and pressure, that is an option for other Lovense toys if you want to get into that type of play in the future.
Lovense Edge vs Lovense Edge 2
As you could probably guess by the name, the Lovense Edge 2 is the second generation of the original Lovense Edge.
The new Lovense Edge 2 offers these changes:
- A redesigned shape crafted to help keep it in the body
- Additional functionality for play with the Edge 2 within the app
- New chip placement that offers better connectivity
- New antenna location that offers better connectivity
The Lovense Edge 1 is no longer purchasable, so if you’re coming into this prostate pleasure game now, the Edge 2’s upgraded capabilities are your only choice. But if you already own the Edge 1, should you upgrade? I’d consider an upgrade if…
- You experience occasional signal loss. The Edge 2 moved the chip placement which should offer better wireless connectivity than the first generation. If a dropped connection is a regular issue, you might have less frustration with the 2.
- Your Edge doesn’t listen sometimes. The Edge 2 also moved the antenna location. If you occasionally issue commands with your cell phone that your Edge 1 doesn’t listen to, you might have a better experience with the new antenna location.
- Your Edge occasionally slips out. The new Edge 2 design offers a more distinct retention area, helping prevent the Edge from slipping out of the body. The dual-bulb design also offers more friction to help that cause compared to the very-tapered design of the original.
As the motor and battery life remained the same, it’s probably not worth upgrading your Edge 1 unless you’re experiencing these issues.
Final Thoughts: Lovense Edge 2 Review
Lovense Edge 2 Review
Summary
I genuinely, honestly can not believe how much we like the Edge 2. It’s just a “simple” vibrating prostate massager! How did it earn such a high pedestal in our toybox compared to some of the other moving and rotating toys we have?
Honestly, I’m not really sure where the magic of the Edge 2 comes from. Is the movable shaft that lets the toy snuggle into your unique prostate spot? Is the powerful vibrations that Lovense is known for? Is the ability to create patterns that let us add small breaks in the vibrations to ensure the buzzing always feels orgasmic instead of irritating?
Whatever it is, the Edge 2 is the ONLY prostate massagers we’ve drained the battery entirely from in a single setting. We simply can and want to use it that long. It’s giving him multiple, unrelenting, hands-free prostate orgasms without numbing him or slipping out of the body. It’s making him unable to walk or move for 20 minutes after we’re done playing. It’s just REALLY working.
Thanks for reading my Lovense Edge 2 review.
