The LELO Smart Wand Large is another one of the wand massagers in the new LELO Smart Wands line. The other wand massager available is the Smart Wand Medium. Available in white, plum, and black, this wireless wand massager is made of ABS plastic and silicone. This rechargeable wand massager is waterproof, wireless, and much larger in size than the LELO Smart Wand Medium. It is about a foot long with a diameter at the head of about three inches. It rivals in size with the Hitachi except the Hitachi is straight while the LELO Smart Wand Large features a curved handle towards the base.
The packaging for the Smart Wand Large is very classy. It also is pretty darned large! Expect the packaging to easily take up a standard-sized USPS delivery box. Inside the cardboard outside packaging, there is a sturdy cardboard inner box in which the wand massager rests. The box is pretty large for storage, but aside from the small “LELO” logo on the top, it’s pretty discreet, so many people may choose to keep it. Inside the box, there is an Insignia pin (which is relatively useless), a charger for the vibrator, the warranty, guarantee, and instruction information, and a fancy storage bag to keep the vibrator in.
The Smart Wand Large has an interesting design. This rechargeable wand massager features the same silky-soft silicone that most LELO sex toys use, and it really does glides against the skin magically. The head of the massager does bend slightly, but it’s pretty difficult to get it to bend, and it’s not something that’s really going to affect your use of this vibrator. The controls to control this wand massager are on the shaft of the sex toy while the charging port is at the base.
Like previously stated, this strong vibrator is rechargeable. It takes about two hours to charge, and it should last about two hours on that charge. It charges via the open port at the base. The wand massager does come partially charged (though travel locked), but you should charge it before your first use. When charging, the backlit control panel will let you know if it’s done charging.
To control this LELO wand massager, you get to use the three buttons on the front side of the wand massager. There is a + button, a – button, and the pattern button. The pattern button allows you to easily change into various patterns that the wand massager includes while the plus and minus button will adjust the intensity of the vibrator. It’s extremely simple to use, and the SenseTouch mode can be activated by holding down the pattern button for a few seconds. Most people will pick up how to use it on the first use.
The vibrations for the Smart Wand Large are DEFINITELY intense! They are very, very rumbly, and they are easily felt throughout the entire wand. The farther away from the head you tend to hold it, the less you’ll feel the vibrations in your hand. Be forewarned that you’ll probably end up numbing your hands while holding this massager just because of how intensely the vibrations can be felt throughout the entire wand massager. If you hold it on the silver like it seems to be designed for, the vibration numbness isn’t too bad, but if you hold right by the head, it definitely numbs the hands pretty quickly.
The vibrations are definitely stronger than the Smart Wand Medium (I’d say about twice as strong), but they’re not quite as strong as the Hitachi. My partner and I actually think that the LELO Smart Wand Large tends to feel more rumbly and jump around on the skin; which isn’t really such a good thing since it doesn’t feel as good when it’s numbing my hand so intensely.
The vibrations are quieter than most wand massagers, though. They can easily be heard in the same room, but they can only *possibly* be heard outside of a closed door. It depends on what you have going on for sound as well as how thick your walls are. There’s really no way to make it quieter, though, and even when placed against the skin, it stays the same loudness.
The Sense Motion technology is supposed to be one of the new features of the Smart Wands line. I honestly can’t say that I’m really too in love with it. The technology basically makes it so that the wand only vibrates on a set intensity when it’s placed against a warm surface. Anytime the wand isn’t against a body, it idles on the lowest intensity. When placed against a body, it revs up to the setting that you’ve set it to go to. This could be your favorite setting, or, as default, it revs up to the highest intensity. It really only provides these two settings in Sense Motion mode; it’s either idling or on the speed you set it for. Personally, I don’t find much use for this mode, but if you are someone that tends to do some sexual play with the wand, throw it aside, do some play with it again, throw it aside, and so on, this will definitely help you reduce how much of the battery that you use. (As a sidenote, it only will rev up to your set setting when placed against a warm body; when placed against something like a desk or your bed covers, it will stay on idle. I’ve tested this.)
Personally, I like this vibrator. It provides a pretty good power, but I don’t like how much the handle vibrates along with the head itself. This is pretty common with most wand massagers because of the sheer amount of power that they put out, but it seems to be more intense with the LELO Smart Wand Large – especially as I tend to grip my vibrator right against the head to provide the most pressure for use. The power is definitely enough for me, but with the shaking of the vibrator, I tend to find the hand numbness not worth dealing with. My other rechargeable wand massagers don’t have that numbness issue and they have a bit more power, so for the most part, I choose those. I do like the adjustability of the vibrations on the LELO Smart Wand Large versus other wand massagers, though.
To clean this vibrator, you’ll want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. It does have a hole at the base of the vibrator, and though LELO says it’s supposed to be waterproof, I’m not sure I believe it, so I have cleaned it being very careful to keep water out of the base of the wand massager. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricant due to the silicone material, and I recommend keeping it stored in the box or in the storage bag. However, the silicone material doesn’t seem to pick up any lint or fuzz, so that definitely makes storage a lot easier.
Something worth noting is that the Smart Wand Large is made from sterilizable silicone. Many kinksters love to use their Hitachis and other strong toys during scenes, but Hitachis require lots of careful use because they really can’t be sterilized for multiple people. The Smart Wand Large CAN be sterilized, and since the power is pretty comparable (and the curved wand may contour better against bodies), it may be a better choice if you want something to share with play partners.
Overall, the LELO Smart Wand Large definitely has more power than the Medium. It feels like a luxury massager, but I’m not sure I’d choose it over my other rechargeable wand massagers. The vibrations are felt too intensely in the handle for me to be comfortable using it versus other vibrators most of the time. However, it does look much more stylish than my other wand massagers, and it’s also a lot more adjustable in vibration strength than other massagers, so if you prefer more adjustability (versus just High and Low for most massagers) and prefer something that just oozes “sexy” in the design, the Smart Wand Large could be for you.
