The LELO Insignia Isla toy is a large insertable (and clitoral) vibrator. The Isla is a little over eight inches long and has a diameter of slightly over an inch. The Isla is also waterproof and rechargeable as well. It’s made from silicone and plastic. This Insignia toy comes in deep rose, turquoise, and black. It also comes in a version with a clitoral stimulator called the Soraya.
The LELO Isla’s packaging is as gorgeous as their packaging normally is. The outer box shows fashionable pictures of the toy while inside, there’s a plain, black discreet box that houses the toy. Inside this box, the Isla sits in its tray (I’m glad they went back to the trays instead of the blister packaging) with the charger and other items setting off to the side. Next to the Isla is also a little brooch which can be worn by the owner of the toy. Why you’d buy the sex toy for the brooch, I have no idea, but they did include it. The box also includes the charger, a black satin bag for storage, warranty information, and the instruction manual. The black box and outer cardboard sleeve are recyclable.
I was honestly a bit concerned about the appearance of the toy. That shiny silver metal actually is indented into the toy itself; I was worried that this could be felt during insertion, and it’d be uncomfortable. The silicone is the nice, smooth LELO silicone that just feels heavenly on the fingers. The plastic piece actually does look very pretty and is completely smooth.
Inside the toy is that little fingerhole that allows you to keep a good grip on the toy since this was intended for use underwater. This spot can become pretty slippery once lubricant is added, but it still can be grasped because of the hole. I am pleasantly surprised to say that, while the sides can be felt during use, it’s not painful in the slightest and actually feels more like a unique texture than anything else.
The submissive seems to really love the Isla. In fact, when he saw it, he said it was one of the neatest toys he’s ever seen. It really is a gorgeous toy. He picked it up and started wielding it like “a sword” though, so apparently when it comes to partners, they approve the design.
The Isla is rechargeable. It does come fully charged, but it is locked, so you have to hold down both buttons of the Isla for five seconds to unlock it. The charging port (while difficult to find) is there, and once you plug in the charger, the toy will emit blinking lights while the toy is charging. After it’s done charging, it will glow a steady white. The toy requires two hours of charging, and after those two hours, you will get four hours of use time. The Isla also has a 90 day standby time.
The Isla has amazing controls. They actually are flush with the body of the toy and are not specific “buttons” like you’d expect from other sex toys. In fact, the Isla actually provides a specific button made for scrolling through the different patterned modes. There’s the +, the pattern button, and the – situated near the handle of the toy. Buttons are easy to press with a backlit LED light. To be honest, I’m really, really impressed with the buttons. They are easy to press, I never pressed them on accident, and they just feel really nice on your fingers.
The vibration modes are pretty moderate. They can get really soft, and they can get moderately strong as well. Unless you require Hitachi-strength, this vibrator will have the full range of vibration that most people will require for orgasm. The vibrator has 6 different levels of steady vibration strength as well as six different levels of patterned vibrations. The vibration levels are impressively quiet. The lower settings can’t be heard in the same room, but the higher levels could be. However, in a closed room, you can’t hear the vibrator at all outside of it – even on the highest setting.
The vibrator seems to work best for clitoral stimulation. It can be inserted, but it didn’t hit my g-spot, so I much preferred it for clitoral pleasure. The We-Vibe Rave 2 seems to have a more distinct curve which made it better for g-spot stimulation. However, I did enjoy using the Isla for clitoral stimulation, and it was strong enough and easy enough to control that it was preferable for it compared to insertion. For people who enjoy insertable toys, though, the Isla should work; it provides an interesting sensation because of the plastic on the sides.
Cleaning the Isla is easy since it’s waterproof but a pain because of the seam. You can use warm water and mild soap to clean your vibrator. You may need to use a toothbrush in order to clean this seam, though, if you inserted the toy or got a lot of bodily fluids on your vibrator. It’s honestly a pain.
The LELO Isla is an okay clitoral vibrator. It’s high-quality and just looks downright luxurious. The vibrations have a good variance that will allow most to orgasm from this toy. While it’s not the best for insertion, it does end up being a perfect playtoy for aquatic encounters.
