TheAdultToyShoppe was kind enough to send me some Japanese Bondage Rope to try out. I was very excited when I received it in the mail and ripped open the box to find some nicely packaged rope. It was also packaged with brown paper to keep the product from moving around too much. It also came with a “Japanese Rope Bondage Handbook”. All-in-all, the product is packaged very attractively. Attractively enough that I would have looked at it in a store compared to other rope.
It’s actually a really great product for beginners to rope bondage. It’s soft and not too rough. You could tie someone up pretty tightly with it and not have to worry too much about cutting off circulation. My submissive says that the rope is probably the softest and silkiest rope we own as well. The book that is included gives helpful tips and safety information when it comes to rope bondage.
What the site doesn’t mention is how thick the rope is. While it’s not too important for people wanting to experiment, rope lovers may have a problem. Thicker rope makes bulkier ties but is also easier to untie. This rope is actually 8mm rope. It’s a great size for beginners to rope bondage, but if you want to get into some hardcore rope bondage, you may want to seek a skinnier rope. It’s also 16 feet long as well which is a great size for most rope bondage. It’s easily enough rope to do hand or ankle cuffs, and even enough to do a hogtie tie if you were so inclined. I was actually most surprised by the fact that the ends of the rope are already taped up, so you can actually use the rope straight out of the package without any worries of fraying.
When I saw the “Bondage Handbook” it included, I expected pictures and diagrams of some interesting ties. Sadly, this is not true. The entire little book is just words. However, they are important words because, as I said, they describe how to be safe. It also includes sections on choosing the right fabric for your rope, other restraints you could use for bondage, basic rope techniques, and great ways to tie your partner up. If you’re interested in watching videos (which is the best way to learn!) I suggest TheKnottyBoys videos. It’s how I learned a lot of my ties.
Another nice feature is that the packaging reseals easily, so if you want to get out your rope, use it, then have a place to stash it where it won’t get dirty, it can go straight back into the package.
I would honestly recommend this to anyone that’s wanted to get into rope but hasn’t yet. It’s a great starting place and the rope is soft enough that, if you tied up someone who’s never been tied up before, they won’t be too frightened. You can buy the Japanese Bondage Rope at this great sex toys shop.
