The Big Bastard 2 Inch Wide Wrist Shackles and the Simple Elegance 1 Inch Wide Wrist Shackles are metal bondage shackles from Dungeon Delights. Both sets are customized to your own wrist measurements, and both close by an external travel lock. Each restraint is made from metal and comes in regular sizes from 6.5 inches to 9 inches and can also be customized to any other size wrist as well.
Rick from Dungeon Delights gratefully sent me a package of some of his restraints to review, and I’m extremely glad that he did! Sure, leather and other materials can make great restraints, and they often do, but there is absolutely nothing as “final” in the bondage restraint world as metal. You can certainly restrain someone in leather, but the cold, ungiving feeling of metal really lets your partner that they aren’t going ANYwhere, and for someone who loves bondage and the feeling of security like my boyfriend/submissive does, it’s absolutely perfect for us.
So what is metal not-so-good for? If you know you and your partner aren’t ready to take the step of “finality” with your bondage where your partner won’t be able to escape without a key, I wouldn’t recommend it. Aside from that, though, I don’t know any other “downsides”! You will need to purchase locks and keys to find with the sets, but any mass merchandiser sells the small locks that will easily lock up the holes. You can tie the holes together with string or something else if you don’t like locks, but locks and keys are what tend to work best.
But Kayla, you say, if metal is so ungiving, how will I know that these metal bondage restraints will fit me? Well, the great thing is is that this site actually takes your measurements into account before making your restraints! The website tells you how to measure your wrists, ankles, and neck to let the webmaster (Rick) know your measurements, and once he does, he can get the right size for you. The boyfriend, as he’s a tiny guy, had a wrist size of 7. I let Rick know this, and the metal cuffs that we received fit absolutely perfectly. They are slightly loose so they don’t cut into circulation, but they are small enough that he can’t slip them off with his entire hand in the way.
How comfortable are these metal restraints? Surprisingly, they are extremely comfortable. When you see something as “ungiving” as metal you assume that it won’t be comfortable, but each one of the restraints we’ve tried has been really comfortable. It doesn’t pinch the skin, and there are no unfinished marks that would cause scratching while wearing the metal bondage restraints. The metal cuffs are extremely smooth and well-made, so you don’t have to worry about either set of them scratching the surface of your skin. Plus, each set is powdercoated which will make the cuffs last even longer.
I love the customization options on their website. You can choose what color you want your restraints to be (even though it’s metal!), and you can also choose how many chain links you want between your cuffs. This is in addition to the sizing choices which will allow you to get the best fit. Ours are standard cuffs, but even so, I’m impressed by how much Rick can do with the metal – including turning it into bondage cuffs.
Each one of the sets I have closes by way of a small, travel-sized lock. The lock is extremely easy to fit into the holes, and the holes line up perfectly. There’s no fighting with these. The Simple Elegance cuffs also include D-rings on the outside that are very firmly melded onto the surface of the cuff, and my Big Bastard cuffs include a chain with three links that connects the two of them. Both of these make for great bondage situations, and the amazing thing is how versatile (aside from going through airports!) both of these sets are.
We’ve had a lot of fun with both sets. With the Simple Elegance cuffs, the lack of a chain link connecting the two cuffs makes it perfect for just wearing the bondage cuffs around or attaching them with whatever you want in mind. If you have a spreader bar, you could easily use the O-rings on the cuffs in order to attach it to a spreader bar. You could use rope to attach the two cuffs together if you wanted to include it in some bondage ropework. You could place your partner’s arms around a stationary object and use a clip to connect the two cuffs. The Big Bastard cuffs and their chains work really well if you want to attach your partner to a specific place or want them to be “shackled” while walking or doing chores. For us, we’ve used the chain to attach it to heavy stationary objections like wrapping the chain around a bedpost or the couch leg.
To clean these, you just want to use warm water and anti-bacterial soap for regular cleaning. If you want to get more intense, you can use bleach to sterilize these as the metal will sterilize. You can share this with multiple partners, and if it gets dirty, you can sterilize it. For storage, you want to store it somewhere on lower shelves because, if you get a couple of these, the metal can certainly get heavy.
Overall, I’m in love with these metal bondage restraints from Dungeon Delights. The wrist restraints comfortable attach to my submissive’s wrists, and you can use whatever locks you’d like to lock these cuffs. Plus, they’re customizable to exactly what you’d like, and the craftsmanship is really nice. Plus, they also sell bedroom bondage furniture, chastity devices, and other items.
