Dame Arc Review

Welcome to the Dame Arc – the first insertable toy from the Dame manufacturer. This fun-looking manufacturer is responsible for a whole host of clitoral toys as well as a few couple’s toys. This is their first dive into penetrable toys, and they’ve chosen a g-spot vibrator to give it a try.

My first impressions with the Dame Arc were this: “Ooooh. That looks like a really nice g-spot curve for me – and toys rarely have a good g-spot curve for me. I love the look of that silicone too. So satin-y and silky smooth. And vibrations! Icing on the cake! Yay!”

But then I used it. And while all of those initial thoughts were still true, there was one glaring issue I never had expected, and it pertains to the buttons that control the vibrations.

Dame Arc Review

I think my problem with the Dame Arc buttons is two-fold.

For one, I’m a plus-sized lady – which doesn’t change the *internal* shape of the vagina, but it does add more squishin’ for the pushin’ on the outside of the vagina. For another, my g-spot is pretty deep. It isn’t just a surface area thing that I can hit with any ol’ dildo, and I pretty much have to rely on specifically-curved g-spot toys with extreme curves to get there. (Or fingers. Fingers are great.)

When combined, these become a problem with the Dame Arc because the toy needs to be inserted pretty far into me in order to hit my g-spot. That still leaves the control buttons accessible which, you would think, would be a good thing, but in this case, my thumb’s natural resting place just happens to line-up exactly when the pattern button for this toy. So every time I put pressure on the Dame Arc to make it rock into my g-spot (movement of which is fantastic, by the way), my thumb presses into the toy to get more power, and I change the vibration pattern. It’s not every time, but it’s enough that I think I cycle through the patterns at least 30 times in a single session. On the bright side, you have to “press and hold” the button intentionally to turn the vibrations off, so while I definitely change the pattern constantly, I never turn it off entirely.

When you do get those vibrations, they aren’t particularly strong. They aren’t strong enough for a clitoral orgasm for me – though I could grind against the rigid toy to orgasm if I was “cheating”. They aren’t even close to a clitoral orgasm level, though. At the highest setting, it feels like a low to medium setting on most clitoral vibes.

That being said, not everyone wants or needs powerful, intense vibrations – especially on a g-spot vibrator. If you want powerful g-spot vibrations, go for the We-Vibe Rave. If powerful scares you or you don’t think you need or want powerful, the Dame Arc is a-okay.

So that’s the bad part: I can’t manage to keep the vibrations on a single pattern the entire time I use it – at least, if I want to get some g-spot rocking out of it. But the good?

The Dame Arc feels fantastic, shape-wise. They didn’t mess with the vibrator’s ability to transfer vibrations or provide g-spot pressure by making the silicone plushy and squishy. The g-spot tip is fantastic, and it hooks naturally into my g-spot like woah. Even when I hand this g-spot vibrator to a partner, they easily slid it into the right g-spot pleasure zone without any added instruction. The vibrator *is* easy to control if your fingers aren’t constantly holding the buttons down to handle the vibrator. Those buttons are super-easy to press down and work exactly how I’d want a vibrator’s control system to work.

If you depend on the vibrations on g-spot vibrators to get your g-spot pleasure, the Dame Arc is just not gonna work – at least if you share my problems. If you happen to use the vibrations as “icing on the cake” where the majority of your pleasure comes from the rigidity and constant movement, though, you might not mind this particular issue. It’s just surprising that it didn’t come up in testing at Dame.

If your g-spot is shallow and vibrations aren’t the be-all, end-all focus of g-spot vibrators for you (or you prefer lighter vibes! Surrounded by vibrators all the time, it can be easy to forget that some people don’t want a Hitachi in every toy!), the Dame Arc could be a good fit for you. If you need stronger vibes, head towards the We-Vibe Rave. If you need a deep g-spot toy and are okay at a cheaper price point because there’s no vibrations, try the Bent Graduate dildo (honestly, it’s been copied and has so many different names by now, but the standard shape is the same. I own multiples because it is by-far my favorite g-spot toy out there.) The Key by Comet G also has an intense curve that’s lovely for the g-spot.

As for me, the Dame Arc joins a pile of vibrators that I never turn on – and don’t even bother to keep track of the charger. I love the physical design of the Dame Arc for g-spot pleasure, but the vibrations aren’t adding much for me aside from frustration. So, it can go join the (which, to be honest, I love the hell out of the base design of the Rocks-Off Ruby Glow, too. I bought a second one, and neither ever have batteries in them.)
