UPDATE MARCH 2024: I can’t believe this sex book by Chanta Rose is no longer in production. This sex toy review remains for anyone who is curious about it. While you’re here, why not check out some additional educational info – like online submissive tasks, beginner pegging positions, saran wrap bondage, and enema 101 info.
The Bondage for Sex book is a full-color book, written by Chanta Rose, intended to teach the reader about different rope ties that make intercourse easier instead of getting in the way. The book is a soft-cover book but does include quite a few nice, full-color pages. It’s a large book with big pictures – it’s the size of a regular piece of printed paper. It’s 138 pages long and in those 138 pages, it includes seven different positions with quite a few included variations on each of the positions.
As you could imagine, all of the positions in this sex book are meant to be achieved by using rope, but with some, I’m sure you could improvise and use silk scarves or restraints instead. The front of the book largely says “Bondage for Sex” with a picture of hands being tied up, and while the back is more discreet, all of the full-page pictures of half-naked people probably make this a bad idea to take in public. A good conversation starter, but a bad idea none-the-less.
So how is this book set up? You start with full-page, color picture of the bondage technique that you’re going to do, then it gives full-color pictures, step-by-step as to how to do the tie itself. The pictures aren’t really “organized” on the page, but all of them include an “A”, “B”, “C”, etc. next to them to let you know which picture is the next in the sequence. There are numbered word instructions as well as any points that Chanta Rose thinks are important. Sometimes I feel like the book is a little wild since there isn’t much rhyme or reason to the positioning of the pictures, words, or points to consider, but it makes reading each new section a bit more fun – albeit more time consuming. A quick glance through your interested section before you pick up the rope will make the experience much easier.
Basically, each of the positions is presented first with a full-color picture and the title of the position. A small introduction from Chanta about what she likes to use the position for is given. The instructions to do the position are then given. After that, it explains some variations of the position like different ways to position the legs or arms for more/less comfort depending on your relationship with the submissive. The variations make doing the positions pretty fun, and they actually will teach you to think a little bit outside the bondage box as well which is always something I appreciate.
So who would these positions work for? Well, for the one *in* the ropes, honestly I’d say that, while most of these were intended for vaginal sex while being in the ropes, some of them would work for males being in the ropes. If you want to include anal sex for men in the picture, all of these positions would work regardless of gender, for your submissive. I found most of them seem like they were intended for penis-in-vagina intercourse with the receiver bound though.
For example, one of the positions includes the leg pile driver. Most people know what the pile driver from regular experience. This book just basically shows you how to make the cuffs to be able to attach someone’s ankles to the headboard of a bed to elevate their hips enough to make the pile driver position really comfortable and not difficult to hold.
I will say that most of these bondage positions are to be done on a bed. Since quite a few of the positions require a headboard or some sort of anchor points (which we lack), we chose to improvise. There are now eyebolts screwed into each corner of the bed frame. This allows us to easily do the positions shown in the book. There are a couple of positions that only tie the submissive to themself though, but most do require a bed for bondage.
The positions are all relatively easy. I was expecting some difficult positions, but for the most part, this book uses the same ties but just in different combinations to make all sorts of interesting ways to bind a person up for sex. The ties are all ties that a newbie should be able to do within an hour as long as they put their mind to it or practice the ties on themselves first. None of them are really that hard, but all of them really are attractive looking and creative.
The ways Chanta Rose presents for doing bondage for sex is amazing – I never would have thought of some of these. For example, in one of the positions, the submissive lies on their stomach with their lower body hanging off the bed. The wrists are tied and placed behind the sub’s back. Then the thighs receive a cuff and are tied to the farthest-away bedposts. Then the knees are bound and tied to the nearest bedposts. Now the submissive can be fucked, they can’t move easily, and the tension on the ropes should keep them in relatively the same spot. I honestly was impressed.
Along with the actual ties themselves, the book does start off with a lot of information that bondage newbies should know. It’s not the most comprehensive “newbie” guide I’ve ever seen, but it does give the different types of bondage styles (Western, Shibari, Porn) and how they differ which is neat. If you’ve never picked up a piece of rope in your life, though, this will easily suffice for great knowledge about what rope you should be using and any sort of safety precautions you should be taking. If you haven’t read the safety information about rope at least ten times, read this section before playing with the positions.
So how much do I like it? I like it, I really do. I wish there were more positions included in the book, but maybe since this was Volume 1, she had originally intended to do a Volume 2. The positions that are included are easy to understand, easy to follow, and provide great leverage and ideas for sex. Most of these positions will work on receivers of both genders – especially if the penis-owner enjoys anal sex. The positions are easy to put on and easy to take off once you’re done, and the ropes won’t get in the way. If you want to take your “kinky play” to the next level, this book will get you there.
