BeYourLover Joy Cup Review

My hand holds the base of the vibrator in front of a cherry blossom tree. It looks very bright and playful. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

Is discretion at a premium in your house? Do you love collecting adorable sex toys? Does the idea of smiling every time you pull out your sex toy sound perfect to you? If all of those things are true, let me introduce you to this amazing little vibrator in my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

Yes, what you see is accurate: this little vibrator looks like a tiny Frappechino / bubble tea cup by day. As soon as you remove the lid, though, you’ll expose the hollow tip. This hollow tip is the epicenter of the air suction sensations, and it’s designed to be placed over your clitoris (or nipples).

The BeYourLover Joy Cup is 2.75″ in height without the “lid”, and it’s about 3.5″ in height with the “lid” on. The hollow tip has a diameter of about 13mm, and it’s unremovable/unchangeable. That diameter is what it is. The base has a diameter of slightly over 1″.

The lid for the toy is removed, showcasing how the toy looks without the lid (and it's "straw") on top of the toy. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

Designed to replicate the look of your favorite drinks, the “cup” of the BeYourLover Joy Cup is made from glossy plastic. All of the sparkles are within the plastic, and none of the texture of the sparkles can be felt. The “lid” is also plastic. The “straw” and the “whipped topping” portion of the Joy Cup are made from a super-soft silicone. For you adventurous folks out there, the air suction sensations do not transfer through the straw if you leave the lid on.

This coffee sex toy has a battery life of 1 hour and a charge time (to a full battery) of 90 minutes. It should not be charged for longer than 12 hours at a time.

It has five air suction modes. Levels 1, 2, and 3 are steady suction modes that get progressively more intense. The final two modes are patterns that alternate between suction and a light level of (what feels like) vibration.

In case of issues, BeYourLover offers a 1-year sex toy warranty as well as a 10-year quality guarantee. Exactly what this Guarantee will offer you is not clear from either the included manual or their website.

The BeYourLover Joy Cup also offers app-control functionality, but I will not be reviewing that within this BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

The Joy Cup vibrator sits out on a flat surface. It looks very small.

Is It Really that Discreet?

The BeYourLover Joy Cup is ridiculously discreet. Like, unbelievably discreet. It looks like an adorable little trinket.

It’s discreet enough that I took it to a public coffee shop to take photos of it, and no one batted an eye about it.

With the lid on top of the Joy Cup, it looks like a collectible, limited-edition toy. The little tiny “straw” and the reflective plastic “lid” of the cup really sell that look.

With the lid removed, however, it’ does look a little out-of-place’s not quite as easily recognizable. It doesn’t scream “sex toy”, but it’s harder to figure out what, exactly, it is.

With this sitting on a shelf, though, no one would be any-the-wiser. You could easily keep this sex toy out in the middle of other action figures, and nobody would think twice while looking over your collection.

If someone picks it up, it does have more weight than a standard action figure, so someone might assume something is different about it. Even the base, though, where the single button to control the air suction is located, doesn’t actually have a power button or any designation on it. It’s just a rounded shape with its “true” function only known to you.

That puts the BeYourLover Joy Cup as one of the most discreet air suction toys I’ve ever seen.

The vibrator is resting in my hand. It's very small - even smaller than my palm. It has a really cute little straw that looks even more adorable at this small size. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

Let’s Talk Noise

Okay, the vibrator looks super discreet. Zero arguments about that. It can sit out as a cute trinket toy without giving anyone a second’s thought.

If you buy it for discretion, though, how does it work as a sex toy when discretion is required?

It’s “okay”. The air suction noise is a little louder than expected. It’s loudest when you simply turn on the vibrator and let it sit out. Most people won’t be doing that (aside from the pre-heating mode, which is noted below).

When the vibe is turned on and pressed against a body, it’s noticeably quieter, but it’s not quiet. I wouldn’t take this out in public. I wouldn’t even recommend using it in a bathroom with loud club music piped into it. It features a “hum” that would confuse most people.

Top down look into the hollow hole at the tip of the toy. It looks soft and welcoming and deep. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

For home use, I’d say you can get away with using intensity level 1 and 2 in a room with a closed door and constant music on. Level 3 gets a bit louder, and you’d want to ensure your door is locked. The humming noise isn’t “obvious” as a sex toy, but it’s abnormal-sounding, and someone might come to investigate.

The oddest choice, noise-level-wise, was the manufacturer’s design to turn off the vibrator. Pressing and holding the vibe’s button for two seconds will turn off the toy. Oddly, though, it seems to kick the vibe into the next intensity level, temporarily, to do so. So if you’re playing quietly on setting 2, turning it off will make for a (literal) second where the toy is louder at setting 3.

This can be a pretty big “oh shit” moment if you’re turning off the sex toy in an emergency. It actually gets louder before it turns off.

Using the Joy Cup with the app may avoid this issue as you’ll be able to control the sensations by dragging the app controls instead of pressing and holding the physical button.

I wouldn’t call noise a dealbreaker for the Joy Cup. I’d say it makes it a no-go for public play (if that was your goal with a pocket-sized, discreet-looking toy), but with the door shut and music on, it’s still a very decent choice for at-home play with someone else somewhere else in the house.

BeYourLover Joy Cup Review: How Does It Feel?

Generally, adorably-discreet toys like this aren’t the most powerful. This is partially due to their size; if you only have a 3″ tall toy, there’s only so much space to put a suction motor. In general, larger motors may for more powerful motors.

That is somewhat true for the BeYourLover Joy Cup. It isn’t as powerful as my larger air suction toys.

It is, however, still surprisingly solid. I’d put its intensity as about 50% of one of the base-model Womanizer toys which is a solid level of power.

More importantly, the BeYourLover Joy Cup actually offers suction. Sometimes, small toys like this simply put a hole in the top of a toy with a vibration motor. There’s no suction to be found. That isn’t the case here. The Joy Cup has actual suction properties. They’re easiest to feel at the first three levels of suction intensity; as you continue to increase the intensities, the suction starts to feel more like the buzzing of vibrations.

I stick my finger into the open hole tip at the top of the toy. My pointer finger fits in easily.

The BeYourLover Joy Cup wouldn’t be enough for me to orgasm if I was really struggling to orgasm, but on every average use I’ve given it for this BeYourLover Joy Cup review, I haven’t had to go over the 3rd level of intensity to have a good, non-forced orgasm from it. It’s a pretty solid level of power.

(Keep in mind that I’m used to full-sized, expensive air suction toys. If you’ve only used The Rose toys, I’d say this is a good 75% of most of the whitelabeled The Rose toys. It’s solid.)

Close up on the bottom of the vibrator. There's a single unmarked circle on it that functions as the control button for the toy. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

How Does It Handle?

Oddly enough, a “cup” is actually a pretty ergonomic design for handling. With the hollow air suction tip pressed against the clitoris, the “base” of your cup is slender enough to fit between three fingers without using too much pressure.

It feels like a natural grip. You get three fingers surrounding the cup to hold it in place while the fourth finger – the pointer finger – easily rests on top of the control button. That pointer finger is free to press in the button (which makes a nice, satisfying click) whenever you need it while the fingers grip the lightweight toy.

I’d say the grip for your BeYourLover Joy Cup only has one enemy: lube. The entirety of the “cup” of the toy is made from super-slick, glossy plastic. This is what gives it its plastic cup look. However, turns out lube and glossy plastic aren’t the best of friends, and any lube on the “cup” of this sex toy can instantly turns it into a slippery mess.

To avoid this, I’d really recommend only playing with the Joy Cup with dry hands. You can wash your hands before picking it up, or you can keep a washcloth nearby. Any lube residue (and I mean “any”) will make this toy harder to grip.

The same applies to bodily fluids. Luckily, you’re mostly making fluid contact with the silicone tip of the toy. Throughout my BeYourLover Joy Cup review trials, I’ve never had a time when my bodily fluids spread much beyond the swirling “whipped cream” silicone portion of the toy. Lubed hands is usually more of a concern.

From the manufacturing side, a cute “cup sleeve” made of silicone would solve this on the toy, but that’s something they’d need to consider for future generations.

If you’re someone who likes edging or gooning for hours on end, you might find that the sweatiness of your hand and the humidity between your thighs may make the toy moist after a bit. This may not be the ideal vibrator if you like to go for over an hour.

Everything that comes with the BeYourLover Cup. There's the toy, the lid, the instructions, the charging cable, and the drawstring bag. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

BeYourLover Joy Cup Review: It Has Heat?!

Almost as an afterthought, I remembered that the BeYourLover Joy Cup also offers a heating functionality. It takes 3 minutes to preheat the toy to a nice 40-degree C. It’s actually extremely intuitive to use; just turn on the vibe then double-press the only button. This automatically places it into heat mode for the next 3 minutes.

3 minutes is about the perfect amount of time to finish gathering whatever it is you want to masturbate with or do a final quick pee before you start. It’s almost like the toy is just sitting and initializing, waiting for you to be ready for it.

I will note: once those 3 minutes are up, the vibrator automatically starts into the first air suction intensity level. For a toy designed for discretion, this might get you into trouble if you leave the vibe alone in your bedroom while you quickly wash up. It’ll start making noise (and the air suction causes movement on the toy on flat surfaces), and it may knock itself off a bedside table.

However, at any point in those pre-heating 3 minutes, you can press the button again, and the vibe will instantly go into the air suction modes and skip the rest of pre-heat mode. So if you finish prep early, you can circumvent waiting and just go straight to pleasure.

The heating functionality works; the tip of the “whipped cream”, hollow area is nicely warmed to the fingers as soon as you touch it.

The charging cable plugged into the base of the vibrator. It's a pin-style charger that plugs into the toy. For my BeYourLover Joy Cup review.

I have to be honest: it’s a cute feature, but I’m not sure it was super necessary. I’ve never felt the tip of the Joy Cup feel cold. Even if it ever did, the actual amount of material that makes contact around the clitoris is minimal. I’ve never actually “felt” the warmness of the tip from my clit after I pre-warm it. With the minimal material that touches my body when I use the Joy Cup, my clitoris can’t really tell the difference between pre-warmed and not. It just instantly goes “Oooooh, that feels good” from the sensation.

This is unlike a full-coverage vibrator or an insertable dildo. When those are equipped with prewarming, that already-warm first touch can feel very welcoming. Here, it’s nice, but it’s not really felt or appreciated.

The packaging for the vibrator. It's very simplistic with a plain white design and a picture of the toy.

Summary

If you love adorably tiny vibes or need something that’s super discreet in case someone ever sees it, the BeYourLover Joy Cup is a really solid choice. It’s unbelievably cute – and no one is the wiser. I took this into the middle of a public coffeeshop for photos, and no one batted an eye. It really just looks like a collectible trinket.

While I wasn’t expecting much from the air suction sensations from such a small toy, it surprised me with the ability to enjoy some pretty easy orgasms from the first and second intensity level. The air suction intensities are louder than some other air suction toys, but with music playing and a closed door, you should be able to get away with using the lower settings when other people are home.

For those who want a warmed tip, this vibe is also equipped with a 3-minute pre-warming play cycle to heat up the toy before you press it onto your skin. I personally don’t think it was a necessary addition to the toy, but it’s there if you want it.

The BeYourLover Joy Cup also offers app functionality (which was not tested).
