I’ve been a huge fan of Lovense for awhile now – ever since I picked up the Lovense Domi 2. After picking up their Domi 2, I absolutely fell in love with a wand massager that’s even more powerful than the Hitachi. The Lovense Lush 2 shortly became my next purchase after that, and I found that the g-spot functionality of the Lush 2 felt like it was in the right spot – and downright STRONG. (Do you remember my Lovense Domi 2 review, Lovense Gush review, and Domi 2 vs Magic Wand Mini comparison?)
When the We-Vibe Moxie hit the market, I think I might have bought it during the first week of release. I was SO excited for a clitoral toy that was long-distance and remote controlled. Almost all of the remote control vibrators on the market are designed to be slid into the vagina – or are just a vibrator that randomly tucks into a pocket in a specialized pair of panties – which are never the right size for me. So the idea of a vibrator
Unfortunately, most of our experience with the We-Vibe Moxie was lackluster – including multiple pleasure sessions that ended in actual tears of frustration when I couldn’t get the darn thing to work – or it would work for a little bit and then would stop listening to wireless commands. Maybe if everything lined up in a perfect world, the We-Vibe Moxie would work (as I know a lot of people rate it pretty highly!), but it would regularly cut out if any of my fat body got in the “way” of the signal – and it was hard to keep the thinner depth up against the clitoris when I had some squish in the labia. We had problems with connection in a hotel room, in our bedroom, and constantly when out in public. All of my “hopes” for the vibe were pretty quickly dashed.
So when Lovense released their Ferri panty vibrator recently, I was downright excited. A vibrator from a company’s who’s wireless technology has regularly worked with my body in the past? Heck. YES. So, again, another first-release purchase for me of the Lovense Ferri – and now you get to enjoy my comparison of Lovense Ferri vs WeVibe Moxie.
Let’s start with a handy chart!
And then a handy video!
Size Comparison: We-Vibe Moxie vs Lovense Ferri
Panty vibrators made from silicone, both toys feel fantastic in your hands and gripped in your fingers. They’re silky smooth, glide easily against the skin, and pretty much zero complaints either way. They both feel like the luxurious toys that they are.
The Lovense Ferri is “deeper” in design than the We-Vibe Moxie. This means it will protrude a bit further between the labia and up against the clitoris while wearing it. The deeper design does help to get the Ferri a bit closer to the clitoris than the Moxie gets just by existing, but neither design manages to touch my clitoris while I have it attached to my underwear. With either design, I either need to lean forward (to push the vibrator against the clitoris with body-weight and movement) or use a hand or other object to “sit against” to get the vibrator to press against the body. (In public, I’ve found a folded-up sweatshirt placed on my lap can provide that object to “sit against” without being particularly obvious.)
Both of these panty vibrators use the “magnet” attachment functionality. Essentially, you place the vibrator into your favorite pair of panties (or your ugliest. I mean, your choice), and a powerful magnet on the backside of the vibrator will fasten that vibrator into that spot on the panties. The Lovense Ferri’s panty magnet is slightly stronger (it’s honestly hard to get it off the vibrator itself), but both of the magnets are more-than-enough to keep the panty into the spot where you placed it. It doesn’t fall down, and the magnet doesn’t come off easily – even with brushing against it or even with a hand pressing against the panties. They’re powerful magnets. (Speaking of, both the We Vibe Moxie and the Lovense Feri come with two magnets in case you lose one of them.)
While both vibrators are very-much designed for remote control, both vibrators for underwear can be used without the remote as well. There’s a button on the magnet-placement side (so on the outside of the underwear – not against the vagina) that allows for manual control of the vibrations when using the toys. If going for manual control, the Lovense Ferri is much easier as the button is far-away from the magnet and surrounded by an area of super-smooth silicone (which makes finding the grippy button really easy by touch alone). The We-Vibe Moxie does include a button design, but it’s relatively flush with the silicone and right next to the magnet area which does make it a bit harder to determine by sight along. That being said, the We-Vibe Moxie button is at the very-top of the toy for less of a reach while the Lovense Ferri’s design puts the button near the bottom of the toy (closer to the vulva).
Vibration Strength Comparison: Lovense Ferri Compared to We Vibe Moxie
This is a bit let-down, honestly. I was expecting more power from the Lovense Ferri. I think I might need to “temper” my idea of the possible power that a panty vibrator can put out, apparently. But I think I’m like other people who have seen those videos of people “orgasming” (no idea if they did or not) in public from panty vibrators – and being excited to experience the same type of power in such a versatile vibrator.
So, that being said, this comparison is mostly a wash. That is, both vibrations pretty much are the exact same power at the top intensity. (Honestly. I had my partner try both of them on me while I was blindfolded, and I could not tell the difference between either of them – and for the most part, I assumed he was trying the same one on me, back-to-back. I really can’t tell much of a difference in the vibration intensity, rumbliness, or sensation at all. They’re weirdly the exact same.) Seriously, that’s super weird. Almost all vibrators feel different from one another. These two do not – to the point if the vibrations didn’t sound slightly different, I would assume they both had the same internal parts.
That “intensity” level is enough for pleasure but not enough for orgasm for me with vibrations alone. If I hand-hold it and use it in a rubbing motion on myself, I can orgasm with it, but it’s pretty darn hard to replicate the amount of pressure and tightness that would require through clothing-alone while playing with in public. I was disappointed when the We-Vibe Moxie didn’t seem like it’d be an orgasm-able vibrator in public, and I can now say the same for the Lovense Ferri. Vibrations alone will not be enough, for me, from either vibrator with the light-ish touch that clothing-only tends to produce with no further pressure pressing the toy up against where it needs to be.
(If the vibrator had a way to stay in the exact spot I needed it for clitoral pressure, I think it’d be doable, but with it attached to my panties – which generally don’t stay pressed against my clit all day – that pressure doesn’t happen.)
Noise Difference: We Vibe Moxie vs Lovense Ferri
Both vibrators are quiet enough to become your public play friends.
The We-Vibe Moxie is quiet enough to be worn out in public – and I have – multiple times. As long as there’s some external noise going on wherever you’re at (don’t wear it to church but an bar and grill will be fine) and you don’t “press” it into anything (for example, if you lean forward enough to press the vibrator into the fabric seats of the booth compared to just sitting with it on your body, it will add a lot more noise), it’s more-than-quiet enough to use in public. With a door shut, it’s hard to hear it on the highest settings from another room – even in a home with no noise.
The Lovense Ferri is similar – but with a different timbre of noise. The Lovense Ferri doesn’t have as much of a “buzz” to it as a “whine” on certain vibration levels. Despite that, it still remains very quiet, and I’d have no problem wearing it outside when it wasn’t a pandemic. It’s pretty much exactly as quiet with the We Vibe Moxie – but with a different-sounding quiet. Since it doesn’t necessarily blend in with the buzz of a refrigerator or air conditioning unit, I would caution more about someone hearing the Lovense Ferri from one-room-away with the door shut, but with any sort of noise going on, it’s pretty undetectable.
Both vibrators are pretty comparable in noise, and I wouldn’t say one is quieter than the other. Both are going to be perfectly fine to take out in public as long as you’re going somewhere with a good level of background noise. Even a clothing shop should be fine if you aren’t the only customer there and there’s music playing on the speakers.
(As a fun fact, I had the We-Vibe Moxie in my underwear and on while I was troubleshooting some insurance issues with my partner between writing up details for this review, and he never remarked on anything being different or sounding different, so it passes the “person right next to you while it’s on” text.)
Wireless Connection Reliability: Lovense Ferri Compared to We-Vibe Moxie
When it comes to a panty vibrator like these two, the most-important aspect of the vibrator is just how well it responds to command. Most people are likely picking up a panty vibrator in order to use it in public and while wearing clothes, so having a toy that’s refusing to respond in the middle of a restaurant while you can’t “fix” it is just frustrating – especially when you were expecting a sexy, flirty night out with the toy. (Coming from someone who’s been there many times.)
Lovense Ferri is a shining example of fantastic app capabilities. We’ve run it through the tests, and it performs pretty admirably. I can expect it to perform exactly as I’ve commanded it to do pretty much 99% of the time. It gets a little bit less reliable if you’re using it from across my entire apartment, but as long as the human is in the same room, it worked flawlessly.
Long distance control is the same story. The delay is greater when another device is controlling the vibrator (because it goes through the internet versus local commands), but it works fantastically – and I’d actually expect the Lovense Ferri to offer better reliability since you’re presumably holding your phone in your hands when someone else is controlling it.
Either way, I had zero connectivity issues with the Lovense Ferri. The Ferri, along with the other Lovense Toys, are toys that I can rely on (as a femdom) to know that they’re doing exactly what they’re supposed to be doing. When I slide a Lovense Hush into my partner, I know that the commands I give it will be exactly what it does – even if we’re out in public. We’ve taken quite a few Lovense toys out in public at this point, and I’m never worried about them listening.
The only downside for Lovense is that they’re cell-phone-controlled with no physical remote. It’s not the end of the world, but if I’m opting for public play, I prefer a small remote I can keep in the palm of my hand to poke at the buttons discreetly under the table. Lovense only offers cell-phone control – which works flawlessly – but it does remove some of the physical “remote control” options that would be available with a remote.
(It’s worth noting that the We-Vibe Moxie comes with a physical remote to control the vibrator in addition to the app functionality. The Lovense Ferri can only be controlled at a distance from the app functionality; it doesn’t have a remote.)
Let’s switch over to the reliability of the We-Vibe Moxie. As I’ll note below in the next section, the We-Vibe We-Connect app control was a giant bust for me. The We-Vibe Moxie refused to work after multiple, multiple attempts, reinstalls, reconnects, and resets. I’d probably need to contact customer service at this point to get it to work reliably.
That being said, the We-Vibe Moxie still has a back-up: the physical remote. When I first received the Moxie on release week, the physical remote was a bit wonky and wasn’t very reliable. It looks like some of the software updates they’ve done since then have updated the toy’s ability to connect to the remote. Previously, it wouldn’t really listen to any commands. Now it listens to, well, some of them.
The physical remote control still isn’t great. The remote needs to be pointed directly at the toy, and even then, it’s about 50/50 as to whether it responds. I’ve found that it tends to work just fine if the person spreads their legs and points the remote right at the toy – but the likelihood of that being simple and easy-to-do for public play is near-zero. I wouldn’t expect on the remote to really allow real-time control of the vibrations – but if you just plan on leaving the vibrator in one place and occasionally poking at the vibrations for a bit of added variety, it can work well enough for that.
App Functionality: Lovense Ferri Compared to We Vibe Moxie
Both vibrators offer a pretty robust app to interact with your vibrator; it just depends on what you want to do and what “visual interface” you want while you do it.
The Lovense app allows you to set alarms, control the vibrator in real-time with sliders or finger-dragging, sync the vibrations to music, make your own patterns (or pre-load patterns made by the online Lovense community) to your vibrator, make the vibrator vibrate to any ambient noise, or allow a trusted contact to control your vibrator for you via the chat app.
The chat app allows you a pretty wide range of things including video calls, voice calls, sharing of patterns, the ability to send photos, the ability to send other media, live control of the sex toy (including control of each other’s sex toys if you want!), setting alarms for your partner, and press-to-talk voice-to-chat transcription for when your hands are full. You can request and block people as you see fit – and they’ll show up in a “friends list” on your app.
The app is robust, easy to navigate, and I know exactly what I’m going for and where to find it. It works fantastically for me, and I’ve never had issues with it.
(Oh, and the Lovense app ‘saves’ all the previous toys you’ve played with as well, so if you want to pull out multiple Lovense toys to play with at once, it’s a simple toggle switch to reconnect the toy to the app instead of having to repair the toys all over again. Pairing a toy is super-simple, though, and I’ve never had an issue with it on all of the phones I’ve helped people pair them on.)
The We-Vibe Moxie app is a bit of a different story. In fact, I spent about 30 minutes trying to get the two to connect – including multiple hard resets of the We-Vibe Moxie, and I have yet to be able to get the We-Vibe Moxie to connect to my cell phone. I went to the Play Store to make sure the app was updated; it is. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app. After all of that, I did get it to connect, but it wasn’t easy, it wasn’t flawless, and I’ve had the Lovense app installed on my phone much longer than I’ve had the We-Vibe We-Connect app – and the Lovense app just worked flawlessly.
….Once I got it connected, while sitting on my desk next to each other while I was typing the last paragraph, they disconnected. Now I’ve tried to restart the app, restart the vibe, and tell it to reconnect, but it thinks the vibrator is connecting but the vibrations aren’t turning on or responding to the app.
So that’s about how that’s going in a nutshell – and it’s about how my previous experiences have been with the We-Vibe Moxie in the past. That’s how it has caused me to break down into multiple fits of tears when I quickly interrupt an otherwise-successful sex session to try to pull out a vibrator to pleasure me – and it ends up being a half-hour of nothing working. It hurts my headspace, it hurts my excitement, and it definitely destroys any sexual mood. We’ve tried the Moxie with three separate phones now over multiple years – all the same issues.
If you can get it to work, the We-Vibe We-Connect app offers a few options for play as well. They aren’t as expansive as the Lovense app, but they exist. You can connect your toy for use with your partner. You can switch between your different We-Vibe toys. You can reduce the overall intensity of your vibrator (so that it’s “default” 100% becomes more like 50% – great for people who want to enjoy a tease or cam models who need pleasure to last longer). You can create custom vibration patterns to enjoy. It does not offer vibrations to music, alarm functionality, or ambient noise vibrations, and the custom vibration pattern creator is definitely much less-customizable compared to the Lovense version.
Overall, the We-Vibe app doesn’t feel as fluid as the Lovense app – but if all you want is to connect with a partner or real-time control, both of them make it simple enough to accomplish – assuming your vibrator pairs correctly.
(The We-Vibe We-Connect app does not allow screenshots in order to show you app examples. The Lovense app does.)
Rechargeability and Battery Life: Lovense Ferri vs We-Vibe Moxie
Both the Lovense Ferri and We-Vibe Moxie are rechargeable. Both are rechargeable via their magnetic charging area and include the corresponding cables.
The We-Vibe Moxie recharges really easy with its powerful magnetic cord. The cord is strong enough to hold the vibrator off the table – all by the power of the magnet alone. The charging cable can connect “backwards”, though, so make sure you look for the charging light to let you know that you’ve connected it properly.
The Lovense Ferri has a much-less-powerful magnetic charging connection, but it still works well enough to tether the toy to the cord. Since the Lovense Ferri isn’t round and doesn’t roll much, the magnetic connection is more-than-enough to keep it connected to charge – but if you bump it, it can come off the charger. The charger only connects a single way, though, so it’s impossible to connect the charger and have the vibrator not charge while it’s connected.
The battery life is drastically different as well. Whether that’s necessary for you is entirely up to you and how you use your toys. The We-Vibe Moxie has a use time of up to 2 hours while the Lovense Ferri has a use time of up to 3 and a half hours. However, the We-Vibe Moxie is equipped with Extended Sleep Mode – which will turn the vibrator off after 30 minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life. The Lovense Ferri does not offer that – so it’ll run itself dry if you leave it on. So, again, just depends on how you tend to use things.
Compare Lovense Ferri to We Vibe Moxie: Final Thoughts
While the actual, physical design and mechanic differences of the panty vibrators is relatively slim, I’d vote the Lovense Ferri as the clear winner – and that’s purely because it’s app connectivity and reliability. If you’re looking for the best panty vibrator out of the two, that’s what I’d select – especially if your goal is public play – or just any sort of long-distance play that utilizes the app.
I was (genuinely) hoping that the We-Vibe Moxie would behave better when I had the time (and wasn’t in the middle of a scene) to make it connect properly and have it function better, but it just didn’t. The Lovense Ferri worked flawlessly, connectivity-wise, and exactly what I needed it to do.
While the pleasure between the two toys is negligible (I was definitely expecting more power from the Lovense Ferri, and I’m a bit let-down there!), the connectivity is really what leaves the We-Vibe Moxie entirely in the dust. A remote control panty vibrator like these two really demands the ability to control it remotely – and that’s just as important as the actual, physical vibrations.
Even with the reliability and functionality of the Lovense Ferri, though, the placement isn’t perfect-enough to cause enough clitoral pleasure when wearing these vibrating panties to the point of orgasm. It definitely feels good, and I enjoy the sensations (it’s a great tease!), but without something to grind against or a way to get the vibrator to perfectly nestle against the clitoris, it isn’t necessarily orgasmic. So if you’re going for orgasm, I recommend having a good plan in place – especially for public play.
