Perfect for pet play spanking, the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle is a wood and leather paddle with a cute red paw print design on one side. The handle is made of finished and painted wood while the “spanking” portion is made with double-play, two-tone crocodile-effect leather. At the base of the handle, there’s a leather wrist strap/hanging strap. The Bad Puppy Paw Paddle is 13″ in length with a hitting surface of 8.7″ and a handle length of 4.3″. The paddle’s hitting surface is 3.5″ in width.
My first impression: this is a really well-made paddle. Care and attention were paid to pretty much all of the aspects of this puppy play spanking implement.
The spanking portion of this paw print spanking paddle is made up of three layers of textured leather. The middle layer is a red layer, and with the paw print cut out from one of the top layers, you get to see the red paw print underneath. These three layers are sewn together by solid stitching around the edges of the paddle. The stitching is pretty well-done, and I don’t see a single thread fraying or starting to come undone.
The paddle’s handle is made from two pieces of wood that have been screwed together. The wood has been finished and painted black. The two pieces don’t match up perfectly, so there’s a noticeable seam along all of the edges of the handle. It’s not a painful seam, and it doesn’t catch skin. The finishing on the handle, however, does make it difficult to hold with lubricated/slick hands. There’s no texture to keep the paddle in your hand – and the screw holes provide perfect bacteria wells if you had bodily fluids on your hands. I recommend a solid handwashing and clean hands before you pick up this paddle for use.
How Does the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle Feel?
The puppy paw spanking paddle has a very rigid design to it. It holds straight against gravity. If you hold it up, it’ll be ram-rod straight. There’s no flexibility to the spanking portion or the handle. When spanked against a butt, it does flex a small bit, but there isn’t much. This means you don’t really have to worry about wrap-around.
The Puppy Paddle definitely has a bit of a “kick” to it. On the bright side, the paddle’s very-solid and very-rigid construction means that it can still be on the beginner-friendly side. On the opposing side, it’s definitely a paddle that can provide a lot of pain if you’re doing anything but super-light whacks. Because of the paddle’s rigidity and leather construction, it’s a very stingy paddle that hits pretty heavy. It’ll be noticeably stingier than a lot of the kink paddles out there – but still not as painful as pure-wood paddles. Both sides feel about the same – very stingy. On one of my test runs on my thighs, I ended up with bruises, and my sub ended up with bruises on that “test run” too. It’s definitely a paddle that can cause soreness and bruising – though with its flat design, you aren’t too likely to draw blood unless you’re going hard.
If you use the paddle very, very softly (more like a tap than a spank), you do get some lovely “spank” noise with virtually no pain. If you’re just into the aesthestic, this can be an alternative for you if you still want to use the paddle.
Striking with the very tip of the paddle near the edge (instead of the middle) will result in a much-more intense sensation. Using the middle (where the paw print is), diffuses the sensation for a much-milder sensation.
In general, though, with any sort of “force” behind the paddle, you’ll get a decent sting that’s pretty impossible for the receipient to ignore. If you use it with the softest strikes, you can get away with something that just “sounds” spanky without actual stinging pain, but that’s the exception with this puppy play paddle more-so than the rule. Instead, expect that most swipes with the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle with leave a stinging sensation – and a red bottom! – on your sub.
Can You Leave a Paw Print with the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle?
As you might be able to tell by the photos, the paw print is actually the lack of the black leather material overtop a red material underneath (which means the paddle “shows up”). This also means that the paddle can “mark” a puppy paw print on whatever skin is slapped.
When it comes to marking the skin, it works best when you hit a very-fleshy part of the body (butt, anyone?!) and hit with some decent force. You’re unlikely to get the “paw” to show up unless you hit with some serious power. It works best when you just hit that area once with a lot of force. Repeated hits in that area will “mess up” your design by drawing in more blood and redness to the area.
So, essentially, just one, very-hard, spank to the area where you want the puppy paw print to appear in a fleshy, squishy, safe-to-spank part of the body is going to lead to the most success if your goal is to get the paw print to appear on the skin.
How Does the Handle of the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle Feel?
The handle is workable, but it isn’t ideal – and I wouldn’t pick out the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle for long spanking sessions. It’s definitely a non-traditional handle. Instead of a rounded handle from softer materials, the handle for this spanking paddle is made of two pieces of rectangular wood that have been fastened together to make a “handle”. This results in a handle that’s noticeably rectangular (and as it’s fully finished, sealed, wood), it also can get slippery in sweaty hands.
I’m definitely not used to square-like handles – and certainly not ones made from wood that are attached to leather. I definitely would have preferred a slightly-longer handle. As it stands, the comfortable “holding spot” leaves the base of the handle pressing into my palm uncomfortably with every swing. It has yet to be a long-term problem (slightly distracting during use, though), but if I was going to use this paddle for a half-an-hour or longer on its own, it’d probably mark up my palm in addition to the submissive’s ass. And that’s just silly.
Since the handle is also entirely-smooth wood (with a few screws on it to hold it together), I also highly recommend ensuring all of the lube or bodily fluids are cleaned off of your hands before picking up this human puppy paddle. The wooden surface can be really slippery because of the lack of texture mixed with the smooth wood. It’s really easy for this paddle to slip out of your hands – even with just sweaty palms. I’ve been using the hanging strap around my wrist to ensure I don’t lose a TV – or accidentally hurt my partner. Some texture on this wooden handle would have helped defeat some of that.
Like all MEO.de products, the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle comes packaged in a sealed plastic bag with a barcode for warehouse use. You’ll need to tear open the plastic in order to get at the paddle. The paddle comes with a cute insert about puppy-play stances if you wanted to practice it, but that’s about the instructions it comes with. It’s pretty self-explanatory.
As the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle is half-made of leather, leather cleaning protocols should be used to keep it clean. Using regular soap and water will degrade the leather over time, so use proper leather cleaner. If you got any liquids or swear on the handle, you’ll want to take special care for cleaning the screw holes on the handle. For storage, this pet play spanking paddle can be hung up from the handle strap – or it can be laid flat anywhere it won’t get squished.
Final Thoughts for my Bad Puppy Paw Paddle Review
Overall, the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle is a fantastic paddle for those who love firm, rigid leather paddles and those who love the puppy print motif. It’s a beautiful-looking paddle which works well for short-term spanking sessions. Due to the wooden handle (and hands getting sweaty) plus the handle construction, I wouldn’t recommend it for long spanking sessions, but it works great for casual spankings. Thanks to MEO.de for providing this puppy play paddle for my Bad Puppy Paw Paddle review.
Bad Puppy Paw Paddle Review
Summary
Into puppy play? This puppy play paddle makes a fantastic accessory for your themed playdates.
With a dedicated spot on the body and enough force, you can definitely get the cut-out paw print to show up on your partner’s skin. Be forewarned that it’ll hurt, though!
If you’re not into that much pain, you can definitely use the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle more like a soft tapping – than any sort of striking – but be aware that any sort of force behind the Bad Puppy Paw Paddle does offer a stinging type of sensation. No “thud” to be found here.
The handle does leave a lot to be desired, comfort-wise, for the user, so I wouldn’t recommend this pet play paddle as a great option for super-long spanking sessions.
