The Cone Vibrator Review

UPDATE APRIL 2024: This unique vibrator is no longer in production – but Cowgirl has created a version that’s essentially the same thing. While you’re here, why not check out some additional educational info – like online submissive tasks, beginner pegging positions, saran wrap bondage, and enema 101 info.

The Cone vibrator is a silicone vibrator that is shaped like a large cone and intended for external hands-free pleasure. It uses 3 C batteries for strong power, and it features 16 programs for use including an “Orgasm” button!

The packaging for The Cone vibrator makes me laugh. It’s a little pyramid. It’s the only pyramid-shaped packaging I’ve ever seen on a sex toy, so it’s really neat. Inside the packaging, there is the Cone vibrator as well as the instruction manual for the Cone vibrator. I like the instruction manual because it shows you a bunch of illustrated pictures to give you ideas about how to use your new Cone vibrator. The neat thing is that each one of the pictures is not just male/female – they included some male/male and some solo ones as well. All sexuality-friendly is always a plus in my book! Plus, the ideas they give you with the Cone vibrator instruction manual actually work pretty well!

I was surprised by the design of The Cone vibrator. Whenever I see it, I always have imagined that it actually would be a bit painful because of the point at the top and, for some reason, I had always imagined that The Cone would be made of plastic. It’s actually not! The Cone vibrator is made from silicone, so while it isn’t plushy like a pillow, it also isn’t “ouch! Pokey!” like plastic would be either. The tip is relatively flexible, and while it will still be a cone and a tip, it also isn’t going to really hurt you if you sit on it wrong.

Something to keep in mind is that The Cone vibrator isn’t really meant for insertion. Sure, you could attempt to insert it if you wanted, but for the most part, it seems like The Cone vibrator was designed for external use. The diameter of the toy is pretty intense, so if you can insert that, I’d be amazed. The tip could probably be inserted for intense vibrations, but again, it might be a bit awkward in order to keep that position up. The toy won’t hurt you to insert as the tip is silicone, but it does seem like the intense was for external use.

The Cone uses 3 C batteries for power. The batteries are inserted via the base. It seems that The Cone must have done a vibrator update since the instructions were written as the base of our The Cone vibrator was really different than the one that the instructions showed. The instructions showed twisting the base to remove the batteries, but that doesn’t seem to work. Instead, use a pen/screwdriver/metal bookmark to get underneath the side flaps to remove the base of The Cone vibrator. Once you do that, you’ll see the area to add-in the 3 C batteries needed to power your vibrator.

The Cone is powerful! Using 3 C batteries, The Cone puts out a punch! The vibrations are definitely rumbly, and they are definitely strong. They are on the lower end of strong because of the larger shape diffusing the vibrations somewhat, but again, as it runs on 3 C batteries, this thing packs a punch! You can use the lower settings to work into the stronger settings, but as long as you can find the right angle and the right positions, most people will probably be able to orgasm from the strong vibrations provided by The Cone.

It’s easy to control the vibrations of The Cone vibrator. It has two buttons on the base of the toy. Holding down one of the buttons for a couple seconds will turn on the toy. From there, you can press the other button to cycle through the 16 patterns, or if you want to go straight to Orgasm mode, you can press down the “On/Off” button and it’ll go into this intense short buzzes for orgasm. To turn off the toy, you hold down the orgasm button/on/off button for a couple seconds. Having to hold down the button means that you won’t be accidentally turning it off with your body while using it. The patterns are definitely pretty unique as well. There are some great ones that really make use of the shape of The Cone, and they aren’t just your “typical” patterns. I definitely enjoyed that.

You do want to remember that The Cone is definitely going to be a loud powerhouse though. You can easily, easily hear it in the same room, and you’ll be able to easily hear it outside of a closed door. If you use it on the lowest setting, it’s much quieter, but once you start getting into the patterns and the stronger settings, it gets much louder – even when placed between your legs or pushed up against your body. This is definitely not one of those vibrators for those that need to be discreet.

Of course, we have to compare this to the infamous Hitachi, right? Of course! The Cone, on its highest setting, equals the Hitachi on its lowest setting. It seems like The Cone is actually a bit more rumbly and deep in its vibrations than the Hitachi, but that could be just that The Cone does seem to require you to apply your body weight (aka “pressure”) to The Cone for optimal usage. The Hitachi and The Cone are about the same loudness (Cone on high, Hitachi on low) on the same strength, but when you turn the Hitachi onto “High”, the Hitachi definitely is louder.

The Cone was really designed as a hands-free way to enjoy your vibrator. With regular, traditional vibrators, once you slide them between your legs, they’re long and slender, so they’ll end up moving around once the vibrations are on or if you adjust your body at all. The Cone is large with a huge, flat base, and because of that, it really doesn’t move around. It just tends to stay exactly where you put it, and with that, you can use it in a variety of ways.

The book mentions quite a few ways to use it (with those illustrated pictures), and I like a lot of their ideas! For one, it mentions that a male/female could use it while orally pleasuring their other partner. As it’s nice to have both hands free while pleasuring your partner, The Cone vibrator can rest between your legs for extra stimulation. The book also shows a lot of reading positions. If you are the type who loves to read erotica, The Cone does a fantastic job there as well. You can slip The Cone vibrator between your legs while you’re sitting, laying on your side (not nearly as awesome), or laying on your stomach, and The Cone will vibrate and pleasure you while you read. The book also pictures using The Cone during intercourse in a doggie-style position for extra stimulation. That, of course, are only some of the positions mentioned in the instruction manual, so you can have a field day with it!

I’m actually amazed at why more people don’t recommend The Cone vibrator. It does have a slight learning curve to learn how it works best for you, but when people are making things like Liberator sex furniture and wand-holding shapes in order to make wand massager use hands-free, the Cone delivers quite a bit of the power (if not as much power as some of the wand massagers) in its body. It does take a bit to get used to, and yes, it is loud, but if you can get past those two things, it really is a fantastic vibrator.

How did this work out best for us? Laying face-down with it tucked between your legs best seems to be best for us. This way, your full body was pressed up against the toy so everything was much more rumbly, and the vibrator stayed put with the weight. You could do whatever you wanted with your hands (video games even!) while using it, and it would still continue to vibrate and be pleasurable. Sitting down worked pretty well also, but it doesn’t have the same added bonus of all of the body weight being placed on the toy.

Cleaning this toy is pretty easy as The Cone vibrator is waterproof. You just want to use warm water and antibacterial soap to clean it. If you want to use lubricant (recommended for naked enjoyment but not-as-needed for clothed enjoyment), you must use water-based lubricant as silicone-based lubricant will harm the material of The Cone vibrator. For storage, the silicone doesn’t seem to pick up too much lint or fuzz, so you don’t really need to keep it in a storage bag, but it does require special storage needs because it is so large. It should slip underneath a bed though.

Overall, if you can deal with louder vibrations and want a hands-free way to enjoy your pleasure, I do recommend The Cone vibrator. It has a ton of features (16 vibration strengths AND an “Orgasm” mode!), and it’s strong, and as long as you are willing to experiment a bit to see how it will work best for you, I do recommend it. It can make those more mundane tasks (like studying, playing video games, or things like that) much more exciting!
