It’s easy to baulk at these fancy-ass “sex toys”. Sex machine prices can range from a nice dinner out all the way out to an entire month’s rent. They’re expensive little buggers, but they seem like magic, right? Hands-free pleasure at a moment’s notice? So, today, let’s talk about it: are sex machines worth it?
We’re going to cover what is a sex machine, questions to ask yourself before you buy one, if you can get away with a cheap sex machine, sex machine alternatives, and a few of my recommended sex machines.
Most of all, we’re going to talk about the price of a sex machine. Because, honestly, if you’re like any other human who likes saving money, you’re probably wondering if you can just buy a budget option and still have a great time.
This is a beast of an article that has taken months to compile, so enjoy!

First off, let’s make sure we’re all on the same page:
What is Sex Machine?
It’s really important to make sure we’re all on the same page with what we’re talking about. A sex machine is different than a saddle vibrator, which is different than a thrusting dildo. Knowing the differences can help you shop and help you figure out what’s important to you.
- Sex Machine: A dildo attaches onto this machine, thrusting a dildo back and forth out of an orifice. Thrust lengths on sex machines are usually within the 3″ to 8″ range.
- Thrusting Dildo: A dildo features a built-in mechanism that helps the toy itself provide movement in and out of the hole you put it in. There is no external mechanism or machine. Thrust lengths are much smaller, in the 0.25″ to 1.5″ range.
- Saddle Vibrator / Saddle Sex Machine: This is a half-moon shaped platform that sits on a flat surface. The toy vibrates more powerfully than any handheld vibrator you’ve ever felt. It may have an attached, insertable toy, but in most cases, this toy does not thrust in and out. Instead, it rotates in circles.
Pictures might help too.

It’s vital to know what is sex machine before we begin to be able to differentiate between your other options.
Do You ACTUALLY Want a Sex Machine?
Now, I’m going to give you some questions to think over. It’s really easy to get lost in the fantasy of the idea of automated, hands-free orgasms at the hand of a sex machine.
But the reality of a sex machine is very different, and I want to bring you back onto planet Earth for a bit before you accidentally buy something that doesn’t accomplish what you’re fantasizing about.
Let’s start:
Is Thrusting your Main Event?
A sex machine moves a dildo into – and out of – the body. That’s it. It thrusts. It automates the process of thrusting.
While some sex machines might have optional accessories that vibrate or touch other areas, that’s not within the basic realm of a sex machine.
So, before you consider buying a sex machine, it’s really important to give this one question a thought: Would your masturbation session be drastically improved by something doing all of the thrusting for you?
Sex machine fantasies tend to focus around this magical idea that a machine will take you to new, magical places, offering hands-free, powerful orgasms while you lay back and have a great time.
And if only thrusting gets you to that magical place, that may be true!
But if you’re like most people and still require clitoral and penis stimulation to orgasm, it’s important to note that you’ll be spending this money on something that simply thrusts. You’ll still need to add that other stimulation by yourself or with other toys.
What Sex Positions Do You Masturbate In?
People tend to forget that a sex machine is an object that needs to be placed. If you’re someone who frequently masturbates while sitting on top of a dildo on top of a chair, your “usual” masturbation position won’t be compatible with a sex machine. The dildo won’t be able to thrust through a chair.
Most of us don’t tend to masturbate on the floor. If you do, you’ll be pretty set for sex machines; you can use virtually any machine on the floor.
But if you usually tend to spread your legs and prop your legs onto the surface of your desk, can a sex machine still fit where you need it to? Does it have the height? If you have a favorite arm chair, do you have a nearby piece of large furniture that can sit underneath your sex machine, actually providing the height the machine needs to thrust into you if you’re not on the floor?
While shopping for sex machines, keep this in mind as well. If you often get off while standing, does your potential sex machine offer straight-up pounding angles?
Think about how you prefer to masturbate and get off, and think about whether it’s easily compatible with a sex machine. It’s okay if the answer is “no”. If so, consider masturbating in some sex-machine-friendly positions for awhile to see if you think those will work for you before you pick up the really expensive sex toy.
Are Sex Machines Worth It? Do You Reapply Lube Often?
Sex machines go to pound town, and they don’t have to let up. That’s definitely their point.
If you’re someone who reapplies lube often or finds that most dildo materials tend to “dry up” on you (it’s me! I’m raising my hand!), this means an unexpected interruption in your thrusting pretty frequently. If I use a sex machine on myself, I have to pause it every minute or so to reapply lube or it just pounds against dry, friction-filled skin, and it feels absolutely horrendous.
It can be easy to forget or skip thinking about your lube reapplications when getting lost in the fantasy of a sex machine, but make sure to give it a thought before you buy. Will you still enjoy your sex machine as much if you have to stop for those lube-ups? Are sex machines worth it when you constantly need to pause?
Plus, this may also impact what sex machine dildos you choose to purchase. If you know you’re sensitive to a specific material, consider a dildo material that slips better against your body.
Do You Have Somewhere to Store This?
When you’re not using the sex machine, it still exists.
Do you have somewhere to store this? It’s a simple question, but one that we forget about.
Are Sex Machines Worth It? What Dildos Do You Prefer?
The sex machine you use is only as good as the dildos and accessories that can be used with it.
If you have an “old faithful” dildo that happens to be the only one in your collection that can get you to orgasm, it may or may not fit onto a newly purchased sex machine. There are a few common ways that dildos attach onto sex machines:
- Proprietary attachments: These machines only use a proprietary lock-on or quick-connect system, and only dildos that are designed to fit onto their machine will fit on it. Each dildo will have its connector built into the base. You’ll need to buy these specialty dildos to work on your sex machine.
- Vac-U-Lock attachments: Any dildo with a Vac-U-Lock base can fit onto the sex machine, providing a bit wider range of available attachments.
- Suction Cup attachments: If your sex machine features a wide, flat surface, it might allow any dildo with a suction cup to attach to the sex machine. This allows for the widest range of dildos, but using suction cup dildos come with their own problems.

Pictured above, left to right: Lovense Sex Machine dildos, Cloud 9 Portal Power Thruster, Body Dock Pro Suction-Cup Machine (flat surface allows any suction cup to adhere to the circle).
All of this is to say: make sure your favorite dildo (or the shape you KNOW does well for you) can be found in a style that can be used with your potential sex machine.
Are You Using Anally or Vaginally?
For most people, the bum is a “tighter” canal than the vagina. In addition, the vagina produces its own lubrication while the bum doesn’t, adding more friction to anal play than vaginal play.
This provides different considerations for whether sex machines are worth it.
If you plan on playing anally, you’ll probably want to get a higher-quality sex machine to help combat the tighter, more-friction orifice you’re playing with. If you’re going for vaginal use, you might be able to get away with cheaper, lower-quality machines without impacting your experience as heavily.
You should also consider your dildo size compared to your experience level with any given orifice either.
If you want to use this sex machine to use the widest dildos you can take, it’s going to put more friction on the machine than if you’re using a slim dildo that slips and slides in there like it’s a walk in the park.
How Heavy Are Your Dildos?
Not only does your machine have to make it through your own powerful muscles, but it actually has the move the dildo. If you use standard, biological-peen sized dildos, this might not be a biggie.
If you’re someone who uses large, thick, or fantasy-sized dildos, though, this can quickly become an issue.
Shoving 4 pounds of dildo into a tight orifice requires a lot of strength. Not only can the 4 pound dildo literally tip the sex machine if it’s too heavy, but it also just requires a lot more strength to push the dildo.
Are sex machines worth it? Using large fantasy dildos doesn’t mean sex machines aren’t worth it, but it does mean your sex machine will need to be a higher-quality, more-expensive version if you want to have a good experience.

How to Save on a Sex Machine
You’ve gone through all of the “Are Sex Machines Worth It?” questions, and you’ve determined that you are dedicated to getting a sex machine. It sounds like sex machines are worth it for you, and you want one.
Now, let’s talk about actually buying a sex machine. Everybody wants a good deal. Everybody also wants to have a good time with an expensive piece of equipment they just bought. Unfortunately, those two things tend to be on opposite ends of one another. I want to help you find a sex machine you’ll love while balancing out the cost.
Are Sex Machines Worth It? A Shitty Sex Machine Experience
Before we go into this, I want to give you the worst case scenario. I’m going to be upfront: I’ve had ALL of these issues with sex machines I’ve bought before.
You unpack your sex machine, and you find that all of the dildos that come with it are made from a material you’re uncomfortable with and are wider than you usually enjoy. You go online, and you find that the sex machine only uses its own proprietary dildos, and ALL of the dildos for it are equally unpalatable to your preferences.
Well, okay. Guess we’re stuck here then. You spend an extra 30 minutes masturbating, trying to make sure your body is “warmed up” to take dildo sizes you normally wouldn’t use.
When you’re finally ready, you sit in your favorite chair to masturbate in, but you find that the adjustable angle on the sex machine doesn’t allow it to penetrate anywhere near you when sitting on the floor. It isn’t tall enough.
Alright, next attempt. You pull up a nearby ottoman, and you place your sex machine on that. Settling back into the chair, you see that the dildo is almost there, but it’s kinda fucking under your thigh. It’s still too low. Okay then.
You go hunting around your apartment for books, and you pull out 3 text books. You put one under the machine and sit back on the chair. Still too short, ugh. You swap out for a different text book, and now it’s too tall. It’s basically humping your clit. The third textbook is the sweet spot, and the sex machine seems like it’ll finally line up. YES!
You sit back into the chair and get all lubed up. Luckily, this machine has a remote with a long cord, so you know you can stay seated and enjoy yourself once it’s all started. You’re not very turned on anymore after that 45 minute interlude, but you’re trying.
You get the dildo to slide into you, and it feels…interesting. It’s kinda grippy. You turn off the machine and add even more lube. On the next attempt, it feels better but still really draggy on your skin. You take a break from the sex machine and try to masturbate for 15 minutes instead to add natural lubrication to the artificial lube on both the dildo and the machine.
On your next attempt, the dildo feels a bit more comfortable, and you think you’ve finally made it. You lay back and close your eyes, trying to get lost in the fantasy of being pounded. You’re finally getting into it, not paying as much attention to the machine when suddenly: the dildo pops out painfully with a loud THUD on your carpet.
You open your eyes in horror to see that the machine is now on the floor. What the fuck? How the fucking fuck did it fall off the ottoman?
Staring at the ottoman, there’s really no reason it should have fallen off. …the fuck? Chalking it up to a fluke accident, you reset the book and the machine and go back to sliding it inside. You keep an eye out as you see it do a few strokes, and you quickly identify the problem: the sex machine isn’t heavy enough.
With each thrust, the machine encounters resistance in your vagina, and the sex machine is slowly sliding itself backwards with every thrust. The “suction cup” pads on the bottom of the feet don’t suction to an ottoman, and so, it’s slowly thrusting itself away from you with every push.
At this point, you’re kinda pissed off with your new purchase, but you spend a decent chunk of cash, and you’re dedicated.
You straight-up take masking tape from the other room, and you tape down the machine, wrapping multiple wraps of tape around the body of the machine and the ottoman, forcing it to stay pressed down on top of the textbook that gives it the height it needs.
Convinced you’re good now, you climb back into your chair and spread your legs. You relube the entire dildo and inside yourself again, and you reposition. It feels kinda good, and it’s staying inside like it should now, thank god.
After a few minutes, you have to stop to relube the dildo, but you kinda are starting to see why people might like this. It does feel nice to just lay back and not worry about having to do any work.
Finally, you decide to touch yourself, pleasuring your clitoris (in this story, but a penis could be an option too!). Once you do, things start to feel really good, and you think you could actually orgasm with this set up.
Just a few more minutes of this, and you think you could get there. Mmmm. You feel your muscles tighten up as you’re getting closer…
…and the next thing you hear is a gross, loud grinding sound, popping your eyes open and making you stare at the sex machine. The thrusting has slowed as it continues the loud grinding sound, trying to press the dildo through the tight muscles that are vaginal contractions in pleasure.
It isn’t making much progress, and you force your body to relax itself, stopping all touching. The sex machine resumes its previous thrusting pace.
Hopefully that was a fluke. You stare down the sex machine as you touch yourself again, feeling the good sensations start up,
…and again with the grinding sound, nearly stopping all thrusting. It’s loud and annoying, but okay, maybe we can just ignore it. You’re so damn close!
You keep going with your fingers, feeling yourself getting onto the edge, and the grinding suddenly stops as the sex machine turns itself off, automatically turning itself off to protect the motor against damage. There is no more thrusting – just a dildo sitting rigidly inside of you because the muscles were too tight.
You want to throw the fucking sex machine, and you nearly do, but you just sadly orgasm around the dildo, pissed off and not-at-all happy with your purchase. Fuck this.
To add insult to injury, the sex machine has no return policy, and you’re now out $250 for something that makes you want to pull your hair out.
Problems with Cheap Sex Machines
Okay, story time is over. You can quickly see that there are a LOT of issues and potential problems we have to think about when deciding if sex machines are worth it. Some of it depends on your masturbation style (in my story, things would have been smoother if I sat to masturbate on the floor on my tiled kitchen floor, but uh, that’s not where I masturbate. That’s weird.), but some of it is definitely the machine itself.
Common issues with cheap sex machines include:
- They are VERY finicky to position.
- They use low-quality or dangerous-quality sex toys.
- They aren’t heavy enough to actually stay in place.
- They don’t have strong enough motors to thrust.
- They kill themselves quickly. Powerful thrust wears down a motor pretty quickly. If your motor doesn’t have the quality parts to back-up the power, it’ll wear itself (literally) into the ground, and it’ll die sooner rather than later.
Most cheap sex toys do NOT come with a sex toy warranty. That means, if your $150 sex machine dies in two months after 3 uses, you’ll just be out the cash. They don’t put warranties on them for a reason; they know they’re quickly heading to a landfill.
You MIGHT Be Able to Get Away with a Cheap Sex Machine If…
Now you know what you might encounter. You know it’s better to spend more money. But, are there any circumstances where you might be able to get away with making a cheap sex machine work?
There are just a few:
- You’re not picky about toys. If a sex machine is going for cheap, they have to keep costs down. An easy way to do this is by packaging the machine with sex toys of questionable materials.
- You plan on using it vaginally, with lots of lube, and with toys that are smaller than your average. If your sex machine isn’t going to be under a lot of strain, a cheaper option might be possible.
- This is a temporary purchase. Quality components cost money. Cheap ones, don’t. With something as heavily mechanical as this, a cheap sex machine will die on you sooner than you’d like. If this is something you plan for from the start, you may not mind.
- You’re willing to get creative to keep it in place. It costs money to offer machine adjustability and the heft needed to keep the machine from sliding around. If you’re willing to get creative with your positions, external weights, and duct tape, you might be able to settle for a cheaper sex machine.
Are Sex Machines Worth It? Possible Alternatives
Okay, let’s say you’re on a tight budget. Instead of getting a shitty sex machine that’ll lead to frustration, there are a few sex toys out there that might provide some of the sensations and pleasure you’re looking for without the high price tag.
If You Want Thrusting…
If you just want thrusting and you’re willing to deal with shorter thrust lengths, a thrusting dildo might be a better option. Don’t think of a thrusting dildo like something that’s going to go fully in and out like a lover. Think of them as something that’ll do small, jackhammer movements that offer movement inside of you without doing full strokes.
Since these toys are compact and don’t have to suspend themselves in the air, they don’t have to worry about having a strong enough motor to push pounds of material 2 feet away. They can get away with having a cheaper motor while simultaneously still providing pretty good movement inside of you.
I will note: when thrusting dildos pound up against tight internal muscles, they have to go somewhere. If you aren’t holding the base firmly inside of yourself, that means that toy will just literally wiggle itself right out of your hole as soon as it encounters resistance. It doesn’t have the weight, heft, or base (like a sex machine) to push further into a tight spot that’s giving it trouble.
That means that thrusting dildos will require you to hold the dildo firmly at the base. (Or, cheat code: position a very firm pillow between your legs and squeeze it tightly against you while using the thrusting dildo. It will help keep the thrusting dildo’s base shoved up inside of you without needing to use your hands.)
Are sex machines worth it? If you need the long thrusting length, you might prefer the machine. If you’re open to shorter thrusting lengths, a thrusting dildo can work.
Just be careful: if a thrusting dildo promises something that seems too good to be true, it probably is. The limitation of thrusting dildos is that they don’t have the space or power to do long thrusts. Any thrusting dildo claiming otherwise (especially sub $150) is marketing crap.
Are sex machines worth it for you? Maybe not. Here are some of the better options for a thrusting dildo:
FemmeFunn Cadenza
Made from a high-quality brand, the FemmeFunn Cadenza provides short micro-thrusts complete with a broad, curved tip designed for g-spot stimulation.
It has no vibration. The Cadenza doesn’t fuck around. All of their product cost went into a stronger motor for better thrusting.
The Cadenza doesn’t pretend to do anything else. It thrusts in 0.5″ movements, and that’s it. But it does it well, and that’s something that’s really hard to find in thrusting dildos.
Nexus Thrust
The Nexus Thrust is “technically” designed for prostate stimulation (hence the anal friendly base), but it can be used in any hole. The textured base just gives it some added sensation to the entrance! It’s equipped with both thrusting and vibrations, providing extra sensations.
Inmi Thrust and Grind
From the XR Brands portfolio, you have the Inmi Thrust & Grind. This sit-on vibrator features an internal shaft that pushes up and down as you sit on top of it. This partners with a small hump (at the base) designed for clitoral sensation – though with its gentle curve, this one is going to be pretty comfy for anybody of any anatomy to use.
It’s worth noting: since you’ll be sitting on it, it does not necessarily stimulate the nerve endings of your entrance. As I noted in my Lovense Vulse review, thrusting that’s internal-only is wildly different, sensation wise, than thrusting that goes from entrance-to-deep. That’s partially because most of the nerve endings sensitive to that friction are at the very entrance of your hole.
So, you can definitely still enjoy the Thrust and Grind as-is, but it may not replicate the full-thrust sensation as much as some other options.
Evolved Gyro Vibe
I’m not necessarily sure I’d call this a “thrusting dildo”, but it’s kinda…thrusting adjacent. The Evolved Gyro Vibe houses a big-ass gyrating motor in the ball at the base of the toy. When turned on, this gyrating motor goes nuts, moving the entire shaft all over the place. While this is primarily lateral movement, the suction cup “spring” at the base also allows some vertical movement for microthrusting.
Honestly, I’d say that it does a better job of stimulating your hole’s entrance than some of the other options on this list.
The big-ass ball also does a good job of making the toy anal safe.
Only caveat: that gyro movement is ridiculously chaotic, and it can be a bit to hold onto and/or the suction cup tends to be a little precarious.
If You Want Automated Sensations…
If you want a sex machine because you’re turned on by the idea of sensations “happening” to you without you needing to put in any work, you might like other toys that provide automated sensations.
As sex toy manufacturing has advanced, some sex toys are now built with various movements and motions that can stimulate you in delicious, automated ways without you needing to move.
Nexus Simul8 – Stroker Edition
Designed to hit a metric buttload of erogenous zones at once, the Nexus Simul8 Stroker Edition is, essentially, a prostate massager attached to two cock rings. The base of the prostate massager provides vibrations (that travel through the cock rings) while the tip of the prostate massager features a stroking bead that presses up against the p-spot while it’s inserted.
Bonus: if you’re positioned in a way that keeps the prostate massager from sliding out, the Simul8 Stroker Edition is also hands-free.
LELO Mona Wave
Think of the LELO Mona Wave as an insertable dildo that does a “come hither” motion against your g-spot without you needing to do a thing. The thick, swelled shaft moves forwards and backwards when the toy is turned off, pressing up (and moving away) from the g-spot over and over.
It is also equipped with vibrations, but that kinda feels like an afterthought at this point.
LELO also makes an anal safe version in the LELO Loki Wave.
It’s expensive, but it also provides a delicious automation that presses up against shallower g-spots without much effort.
FemmeFunn Vortex Wireless Turbo Shaft
The FemmeFunn Vortex provides automated sensations – though they aren’t really as targeted as the previous options. The tip of this dildo offers a constantly swirling, circular motion. It, essentially, provides the same rotation you’d get in the Motorbunny’s insertable shaft, but it’s a standalone dildo.
This isn’t going to be pleasurable for everyone, but if you have a shallow g-spot/p-spot or just really enjoy internal movement, this one is probably going to be a hit.
The Vortex has a wireless remote control to control the movement.
Nexus REVO Extreme
The Nexus REVO Extreme is designed for a very niche audience: people who love prostate sensations AND love gigantic, thick sex toys.
If that’s you, you’re literally going to fall in love with the REVO Extreme. It’s one of our favorite prostate massagers because it works, and it feels amazing.
Once this thick toy is inserted, you can turn on the rotations, which cause the tip of the massager to rotate and/or REVOlve, depending on how you want to phrase it. These revolutions cause the entire toy to rotate, pressing the tip of the massager into the p-spot over and over while the base presses firmly up against the perineum on each revolution as well.
The “Nexus REVO” line is a full line of prostate-focused toys that offer this revolution movement. The REVO Extreme is our favorite due to the unique, sheer size you can’t find anywhere else, but if that’s not for you, the entire line offers much slimmer options.
I have an entire Nexus Revo Extreme review if you’re curious – but this is one of those “we keep it nearby at all times” toys.
If You Want Hands-Free Orgasms…
There are lots of ways to use the sex toys you already own hands free. To avoid giving myself premature carpal tunnel, I’ll just point you to the article I already wrote about it:
READ: How to Use Sex Toys Hands Free
After reading this Are Sex Machines Worth It? article, you’re jonesing to invest in new sex toys instead, some sex toys are specifically designed for hands-free use.
First, determine what you need to orgasm. That’s the type of toy you should focus on if you’re looking for hands-free orgasms. For most people, that’s clitoral or penis stimulation. If that’s the case, I’d recommend:
Hot Octopuss Jett

Think of Hot Octopuss Jett as a “cock ring” that is designed to be worn much higher on the shaft (like near the tip). That cock ring houses two really large, powerful vibrators.
When positioned on the frenulum, having these two big-ass vibrators on the frenulum can be used for hands-free orgasms. You just kinda slide the cock ring on, lay back while you hold the (corded) remote, and it’ll do the job.
It’s worth noting: not all penis owners get off from vibrations. It’s definitely a different sensation from stroking up and down, and it can take a bit to get used to the new sensations. But most shaft owners find that, with powerful enough vibrations, orgasm is going to happen.
KIIROO KEON
Penis strokers have been getting some serious innovation as of late, and the KIIROO KEON is proof of that. The KEON is a powerful motorized machine that snaps onto a penis stroker. With the penis stroker in place, the KEON picks it up – and puts it back down – essentially doing all of the work of moving a penis stroker up and down for you.
At face value, you still have to hold the KEON itself. BUT if you can use the KEON’s compatible accessories to set up a little “masturbation station” (as it were) you can enjoy the KEON while you lay, sit, or stand while it does all the work.
As a flagship product from KIIROO, the KEON has a full host of hands-free accessories for it including angled cushions, desk clamps, neck straps, and more.
I have a full KEON review, but TLDR; it’s our favorite penis stroker.
Particularly applicable to this Are Sex Machines Worth It? article, the KEON also has an optional Vac-U-Lock adapter that allows it to thrust any Vac-U-Lock enabled toy (like a dildo) in and out too. This is going to be a pretty weak-powered sex machine, but if you meet the criteria for a cheaper sex machine as outlined above, this can be a fun dual-purpose for your KEON with only a $50-ish buy-in for the adapter.
Any Clitoral Grinder

If you’re someone who enjoys firm pressure on your clitoris, any clitoral grinder will do ya. If you haven’t seen one of these bad boys, a clitoral grinder is a sex toy you just sit on top of. You then move your hips back and forth, “grinding” into the surface of the toy.
Some clitoral grinders (like the Uncover Creations Coral Keeper) are simply there, providing firm pressure without any fancy frills. Other clitoral grinders may be equipped with more of the “frills”. The Rocks-Off Ruby Glow, for example, has built-in vibrations while the Evolved Tentacle Grinder has an insertable shaft AND vibrations. Going even further, the VibePad 2 has pre-heating functionality alongside a little licking tongue.
Getting a good design for a clit grinder is important for getting your pleasure. If you have plushier labia, you’ll want a grinder that offers more pronounced height to get it nestled between your lips. If you have a clitoris that’s really far from your vaginal entrance, you’ll also want to make sure that clitoral grinder has enough height to hit your pleasure spot. As grinders get more popular, there are a lot more of them, but many are built for extremely slender bodied, minimum-labia-majora vulvas.
If you don’t enjoy firm clitoral pressure, you may want to steer clear. Since you sit on a grinder with your full body weight, it can be harder to really moderate how much pressure you get.
My Recommended Sex Machines
I’mma be honest here: Good sex machines aren’t cheap. That’s why I’ve given you an entire article of alternatives and questions to think about. Because, if you’re looking for something that’s actually going to fulfill that fantasy of hands-free, orgasmic pounding without stress, it’s not going to be cheap.
And if you’re on a tight budget, you’re almost always better off simply picking a different type of toy. Don’t fall prey to a sex machine industry that knows they’re putting out crappy shit and knows you have no return policy or recompense when it goes wrong.
If I were going to recommend any sex machines to you, out of the 10+ I own, these would be my top recommendations:
Lovense Sex Machine
If you want a lower-priced thrusting sex machine, the Lovense Sex Machine is known for quality, and their full-sized sex machine is no different.
They offer a Mini Sex Machine version as well, but it has a smaller/weaker motor, and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that one unless you meet some of the specifications in the section above about getting away with cheaper sex machines.
As a fun bonus, the Lovense machine also offers Bluetooth enabled control, allowing you to synchronize your sex machine to a lover’s command, adult games, music, videos, and more. Since most people pick up a sex machine wanting more immersive, hands-off sensations, this is definitely a really awesome feature.
(And as I’ve gushed about in pretty much every Lovense review I’ve ever written, their app control and reliability are by far the gold standard in the sex toy industry.)
It also has a one-year warranty against defects. IF you have issues down the road, Lovense also offers a 10 year quality guarantee which provides a 55% off discount for purchasing a new machine as well.
The big downside? It uses proprietary dildos, so you have the choice of pretty much two dildos for it. They’re both silicone (yay!), but they’re just both realistic and straight-looking.
Motorbunny Sex Machine

The Motorbunny isn’t technically a “sex machine”. It’s one of those saddle sex machines or saddle vibrators that we talked about earlier.
Instead of a toy thrusting in and out of you, the Motorbunny is designed to provide the strongest vibrations you’ve ever felt in your life. You straddle its half-moon shape, sliding the attachment inside of you (if desired), and enjoy the intense vibrations that rival (literal) power tools.
At the same time, instead of thrusting, the toy inside of you (if desired) rotates in a circle, providing constant internal movement. Depending on the shape of the toy you select, this can constantly stroke the g-spot or p-spot, over and over and over.
I have never, out of hundreds of hours of using a Motorbunny, ever seen the motor lock up. It’s got way too much power.
It also sounds like it has a ton of power. This is not a discreet sex toy by any means, and I’d say you probably want to be out of apartment living (or have thick walls) before picking one up.
Motorbunny also makes the Motorbunny Buck (the version we were previously talking about was the Motorbunny Original). Instead of rotating, the Buck has a platform that pushes upwards, over and over, to thrust anything on top of that platform (i.e., your dildo) in and out. We have locked up the Buck’s motor a couple times.
I really do love my Motorbunny. If you want to read more details about some of the kinkier things I do with it, here’s some further reading:

FuckYeah F500
I do not own one, but the FuckYeah F500 is pretty much the gold standard of sex machines if you want something that’s going to last, never stall out, and can be infinitely modified. It’s also more than two months’ rent for me.
It (quite literally) offers 125 pounds of pushing force AND offers a ton of different attachment options (including suction cup, Vac-U-Lock, and D-ring).
FuckYeah Machines is only focused on this one, single machine. They don’t make sex toys. They don’t make any other machines. They make one machine, they use ridiculously powerful parts, and they have crafted a sex machine that handles any dildo known to man.
They have a (literally unheard of) 5 year warranty on their machine. Most sex machines offer no warranty or only a 30 day one.
They also have a servicing department which, again, doesn’t exist in the sex machine industry. They intend for you to buy this machine once, keep it for life, and deal with minor service requests to keep it running as long as you want it.
Don’t get me wrong: it’s ridiculously expensive. It’s also kinda ugly. But it also is designed to hold up to everything you thrust at it, and that’s insane.
