Looking for a tentacle dildo? This Laphwing Tentacle review might have all the information you’re looking for. The Laphwing Tentacle is a fantasy-style dildo designed for those who love thickness.
Made from liquid silicone, this dildo has multiple textural elements going on. Tentacle “suckers” run the entire length of one side with square-like separators between each one. On the backside, worm-like curves, in and out, line the entire length of the toy, spaced further apart the further you go down the shaft. (Honestly, pictures describe the texture much better than my sad attempt at words do.)
At the base, there’s a wide suction cup. Made from the same soft liquid silicone material as the rest of the dildo, it’s very pliable, and it honestly suctions to most surfaces with the lightest bit of pressure. Because the suction cup is so soft, the Tentacle does not reliably stand upright (like on a table) without utilizing the suction cup. (I almost knocked over a cup of coffee while writing this sex toy review.)
According to Laphwing, the dildo weighs 19 ounces – which is over a pound. It’s definitely a hefty toy.
The Laphwing Tentacle comes in a relatively-discreet black cardboard box. This cardboard box folds down beautifully for recycling, but it’s definitely too weak for long-term storage of the dildo. The dildo does not come with a storage bag, but it will fit in gallon-sized plastic baggies.
Let’s Talk Measurements
I’m always surprised by how often retailers provide almost-no information on their own product on their website, and that’s the case here with the Laphwing Tentacle. As of right now, there are almost no measurements for this hulk of a dildo on their retail site. Considering how thick this toy is, this is really a gigantic oversight.
For your info, the Laphwing Tentacle measurements are:
- Total Length: 8.5″ if you go directly top to bottom to measure how much space this dildo takes up in the world. The dildo is “longer” if you follow the curve of it.
- Total Insertable Length: 8.5″ (holding the fabric measuring tape directly against the suckers and following them from top to where the suction cup connects)
- Circumference at the Very Tip: 1″
- Circumference 2″ Down the Shaft: 3.7″
- Circumference of the Area Around the Bottom-Most Sucker: 8.5″
- Circumference Around the Thickest Part of the Dildo at the Base: 10.25″
- Suction Cup Diameter: 2.7″
This makes the Laphwing Tentacle a hulk of a dildo. It, quite literally, weighs over a pound! It’s not an average-sized dildo.
However, this rainbow dildo is a bit more approachable than many fantasy dildos because of its ultra-tapered design. Especially if you’re interested in anal stretching, the tip comes down to a diameter of about a finger. It expands from there, so if you’re into the idea of having sex with a tentacle without the expanded orifice to match, you can still have fun with the Laphwing Tentacle without injuring yourself.
Laphwing Tentacle Review: The Design
Even at first glance, you can tell the Laphwing Tentacle is a tentacle. Honestly, the manufacturer has done a great job retaining the details in this mold. The tentacle “suckers” are clearly molded with no chunks missing. Even the tiny indentations between each one of the suckers is really cleanly cut. Even the textured base, with its “gooey”-like skin design, can be felt and seen on the toy.
On the topic of quality, the silicone pouring is on-point too. There’s minimal bleed between the very clear “lines” of the rainbow coloration. The swap between blue to green hits exactly at the bottom half of the final row of tentacle suckers – just like shown in the marketing photos.
Honestly, the Laphwing Tentacle promotion photos are exactly what you get. I can’t really find any discrepancies. What you see is what will arrive at your door.
It’s odorless and tasteless. Yep, I licked it.
The manufacturer chose a soft liquid silicone for this fantasy dildo. It isn’t a super-soft design (it still has some form to it), but it’s definitely a soft silicone with a tacky feel to it. Your unlubed, standard hand (even with my lotioned hands) doesn’t glide against the material. It’s a very grippy, tacky silicone that requires lots and lots of lube.
This soft silicone choice is most noticeable at the tip where there’s less “bulk”/thickness to provide rigidity. The tip of the dildo can bend entirely backwards to easily connect with the shaft of the dildo underneath it. That isn’t the case as you move further down the shaft, however. At the mid-point of the dildo, the dildo only bends about 90-degrees before meeting too much resistance to continue.
The constantly-graduating width partnered with the bulbed texture throughout the entire shaft makes the Tentacle an amazing toy for anal stretching. You can go all the way from a fingertip’s width to a soda can width in the span of a single toy. Your hole will naturally have spots to “rest” with these bulbed ridges built right in. It’s really a stretcher’s dream toy.
Let’s Talk Suction Cup
The Laphwing Tentacle is equipped with a suction cup at the base. Unlike some toys, which have the suction cup design built directly onto the final part of the “design”, Laphwing essentially just tacked a silicone suction cup onto the base of the finished product.
Honestly, while not the most beautiful (and it does cause the Tentacle to be less stable standing upright on a flat surface unless you suction it), it is extremely functional. This is probably one of the most powerful suction comes I’ve really played with. The super-soft silicone partnered with the wide suction cup that doesn’t try to be visually part of the toy makes it really, really solid.
Because of the toy’s heft, this is really important. Weighing 19 ounces means this bad boy is heavy! Especially if you’re used to standard “realistic” dildos and not fantasy dildos, you’re going to be surprised by the heft.
In all of our trials for this Laphwing Tentacle review, we have yet to be able to break the suction seal when we press it downwards against a flat, dry, clean surface. Honestly, I’m always afraid I’m going to rip the toy in half when I try to pull it off. We have, quite literally, put full body weight into trying to rip it off the ground, and it doesn’t budge. We’ve never had any issue with it moving around during actual, sexual use unless lube slides down the toy and ends up getting underneath the suction cup.
While upright use is impeccable, using the Laphwing Tentacle on a wall is less solid. I think the sheer weight of the dildo tends to pull it downwards. Partnering gravity with tons of thrusting movement (and the opportunity to let little bits of air in), we’ve found that the Tentacle will definitely slide off on wall use.
So, if you want to kneel on top of it, expect a flawless experience. If you want to place it on a wall, there will definitely be starts and stops where it comes undone.
Wall-wise, we’ve found the best seal when semi-glossy objects (versus matte-painted walls) like our front door and the sides of the bathtub.
Laphwing Tentacle Review: Using the Dildo
The first thing you’ll notice about the Laphwing Tentacle is the softness. That’s the liquid silicone.
While that makes it delicious to squeeze, it means you’ll need to approach penetration with a plan – especially if you’re not used to taking larger toys yet. The tip of the dildo collapses under pressure – and if you’re not used to making it up to the 1.5″+ diameter that hits a few inches down, the resistance of your “tighter” body partnered with the heft of the toy can make it aggravating to insert.
When met with resistance at the tip, the dildo wants to “bend” – and if you’re already having a hard time trying to slide it in, the dildo folding under pressure will not help. It can be a two-handed job – and even then, it can still be pretty frustrating.
I’d recommend the ability to comfortably penetrate with a diameter of 1.5″ before taking on the Laphwing Tentacle. Especially if you have a kink for tentacles, you can use this one if you aren’t at that point, but I want to make sure you’re approaching its soft design with full awareness of the downsides.
Once you get down a couple of inches on the dildo, it behaves much better. Not only is the shaft thicker (so it isn’t as easy for it to fold in on itself), but it’s already in “the hole”, so your body helps stabilize the toy from one end and makes it much more difficult to fold.
Just make sure to use a lot of lube on the Laphwing Tentacle – and then use even MORE lube after that. This liquid silicone material is extremely grippy and tacky. Add that to the tentacle sucker texture and the bulbed crevices where lube gets “stuck”, and we find that we go through a LOT of lube to use the Tentacle. If we skimp on the lube, it feels draggy on the entrance – and honestly painful.
So squirt that lube liberally all over the shaft and rub it in with your hands (especially around the sucker texture). We find we have to reapply the lube more often than with any other sex toy, too, so don’t be shy about covering it in lube again and again. The Tentacle is best felt when the texture is slippery – but not dragging on your skin.
Final Thoughts: Laphwing Tentacle Review
Laphwing Tentacle Review
Summary
What you see is what you get with the Laphwing Tentacle. It arrives exactly as pictured on their website with bright, near-fluorescent colors cascading down the shaft. The texturing is entirely on-point, and the suction cup is ridiculously powerful – even though it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of the fantasy-filled design.
All of this makes the Laphwing Tentacle a gold standard for people who love anal or vaginal stretching. The suction cup base can keep it anchored for super-slow, gentle insertion. The soft silicone makes the dildo feel comfortable within the body – even if you start to insert all of its full 8.5″ length. The dildo begins with a super-small diameter and makes its way down to a soda-can width – all with bulbed, ribbed texturing that feels like comfy resting spots for your internal rings of muscle.
If you’re not into anal stretching, that’s okay too. I’d recommend being able to comfortably insert diameters of 1.5″ in order to enjoy the best aspects of the Tentacle though. With the soft material choice, the tip can be a bit unwieldy if you’re only looking to play with the very tip.
