Do you love playing with large dildos? Do you want to avoid buying even more O-rings for your strap-on harness – or simply want the tightest fit possible with your O-ring? Does your strap-on harness feature a built-in, elastic O-ring, and you want to fit the widest selection of dildos possible? Let’s talk about how to get a huge dildo into a harness.
See, using a plastic bag to help get your dildo into a strap-on harness is a magical trick that helps tight O-rings slide onto dildos. Since you’re removing the friction of the dildo material itself, the O-ring can better slide down the shaft.
This is especially helpful for strap-on harnesses where the O-ring is built in like a Spareparts Joque or Spareparts Sasha. Since the O-ring is stretchy, but built-in, there’s no way to swap out the O-ring like some interchangeable O-ring harnesses.
However, even with an interchangeable O-ring harness, there are often times where your dildo is just at the limit of your current O-ring. Getting a larger O-Ring might make the dildo loose – or you simply don’t want to go to the hardware store.
No matter why you need to do it, using a simple (disposable) plastic bag you have hanging around the house can help you squeeze your dildo into a super-snug O-ring.
Let me introduce you to the bag trick for strap-on sex.
What is the Strap-on Bag Trick?
The strap-on bag trick has you using a plain, disposable plastic bag to get a huge dildo into a harness O-ring for strap-on sex.
By covering the dildo with the plastic bag, we remove the dildo’s tackier, grippier material from the equation. Now the dildo is covered in a smooth, slippery surface. This slippery surface makes it easier to slide an O-ring down the dildo’s shaft – especially around textured or pronounced areas.
Once we get the O-ring at the base of the toy and successfully into the harness, we continue to slide the bag out until it’s removed from the equation. In most cases, this often turns into ripping the bag into multiple pieces to “reveal” the dildo that’s now securely in your harness.
The pegging bag trick will work for a wide variety of dildo sizes, but it isn’t actual magic. If your dildo has a diameter of 4″, this will not help it fit into a 3″ O-ring. However, if your dildo has a diameter of 2.9″ with pronounced features or difficult-to-slide textures, the strap-on bag trick can help the O-ring make it to the base of the toy.
This can also be especially helpful if your dildo’s shaft is much thicker than the base. If your dildo swells to its widest point mid-shaft, you might have issues getting the “correct” O-ring size past this point to make it to the base.
What Do I Need for the Strap-on Bag Trick?
This is honestly really simple. You just need:
- Your dildo
- Your harness
- A plastic bag you’re okay ripping to shreds
- Two (or more) hands. You can also anchor the dildo against sturdy surfaces or between feet if you need more leverage.
You can use any type of plastic bag for this. I find that disposable grocery bags tend to rip apart best when you’re done, but you might have to pull out small chunks of the material. You also could use large food storage bags, parts bags from new appliances, and anything else. You can (and we have!) even use the dry cleaning bag that a hotel provides in a hotel room. Smaller bags about the size of your dildo are best; the bag that shipped your American sex doll is going to be overkill.
It just needs to be plastic, preferably rippable, and something you’re okay recycling when you’re done.
As the inside of this plastic bag will be touching your dildo (probably right before your pegging or strap-on sex), ensure you’re comfortable with the bag’s previous contents touching your dildo before you jump in. A bag that just held your muddy shoes is probably not the best option.
I, personally, like to keep lightly used food storage bags available for this use. For example, if I tossed a few cookies into a food storage bag, I’ll empty out all the crumbs and place it into a pile for future pegging bag trick use.
How to Get a Huge Dildo into a Harness
The bag trick for pegging is surprisingly simple. Honest! Let me walk you through how to get a huge dildo into a harness with this trick. (I even took pictures. Look how helpful I am!)
Place your dildo on a firm surface. I find this easiest if I place it on a countertop or firm mattress while standing. This lets me put some of my weight on it during the pushing phase.
Slide your chosen plastic bag over the top of the dildo. Do not wrap the bag around the dildo. Keep this as loose as possible. If you have a pair of scissors, cut the bag’s length to a spot that barely extends past the dildo’s base. The end game here is to easily slide this bag off the dildo when we’re done. If we wrap the bag around like a burrito, that will become a nightmare.
Place the O-ring of your harness at the tip of the dildo. Depending on what dildo harness you own, this may require undoing an O-ring snap or two to slide it down the shaft. With a built-in O-ring design (like the 13-year-old Joque harness pictured), it’s just the one-size, built-in O-ring.
Apply slight pressure downwards. If you’re standing, this can be really easy to do as you put your own body weight behind it. However, go slow. Almost all dildos will “buckle” under lots of sudden pressure. You’ll start to see the O-ring slide down the shaft.
If your dildo has any pronounced or extra-textured areas, you may want to manually move/wiggle the O-ring around those parts. Blunt pressure can help it slide down a smooth shaft, but we want to avoid shearing any dildo texture through blunt force.
Sooner than you think, the O-ring will be at the base. You’ll now have the dildo, entirely encased in a plastic bag, attached to your strap-on harness. (I have never tried pegging with the dildo like this. If you do, feel free to report back, but I can’t imagine it’s comfortable!)
Your final step is to remove the bag from the dildo. You can do this one of two ways:
- Feed the base of the bag through the O-ring to eventually, simply, lift the bag off the dildo in one piece. Depending on how large your bag is, this may just take some wiggling of the O-ring with simultaneous tugging of the bag near the tip. Keep in mind your plastic bag’s style as well. A food storage bag, with a large plastic “zipper” will never fit underneath a snug O-ring. Zipper-seal food bags may also scratch super soft dildos if dragged against the dildo material with enough force.
- Give up entirely on preserving the bag, and just cut/rip the bag close to the base. Easily remove the side covering the shaft and then wiggle and gently tug the scraps out from underneath the O-ring.
I usually end up with a mix of 1 and 2 for a mostly-destroyed bag – but a perfectly snug dildo!
That’s it, though. You’re now ready for that pegging or strap on sex!
How to Get a Huge Dildo into a Harness: When Do I Do It?
If plastic baggies, scissors, and grunting don’t sound like your ideal pre-sex foreplay, that’s okay. It isn’t mine either.
If I know I want to use a dildo this big in my strap-on harness, I’ll pre-load the dildo into the harness. That way, when we finish foreplay and get around to enjoying ourselves, the dildo is already snugly in the harness and ready to go.
Depending on your play style, you may also benefit from having multiple copies of a favorite strap-on harness. (Not feasible for everyone, I know.) Especially if you’re dealing with a huge dildo pegging, this can make it easier to swap between dildos without taking the downtime to try to get a gigantic sex toy out of a harness.
In my case, for example, I’ll keep my Vixen Creations Gambler in one Spareparts Joque harness as our warm-up toy. For our “main event”, a Mr. Hankey’s Centaur dildo is waiting in my other Spareparts strap-on harness. I simply step out of one harness and into the second one when we’re ready for the big dildo pegging instead of fussing with a dildo exchange.
When we’re done, both harnesses go into the washing machine anyway, so it’s literally no extra work on my end.
(Just make sure not to keep your dildo in your strap-on harness all the time. This can leave O-ring indentations on your dildo or permanently stretch out a rubbery O-ring. Take the dildo out when you’re done playing.)
What If My O-Ring Gets Stuck?
After you’ve had an amazing time, you’re going to realize that the same bag you used to get the dildo into the harness is now very, very gone.
And honestly, trying to thread a bag underneath the O-ring at the base of the dildo is a nightmare I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
I, personally, find that removing the O-ring from the dildo is much easier than sliding it on in the first place. Instead of dealing with feeding a wiggly, floppy dildo into an O-ring, I’m now trying to simply slide it off. I simply:
- Remove the dildo and harness from your body. Everything is 1000% easier off your body.
- Wash off all surface lube; if lube got under the O-ring don’t worry about that. We want that!
- Get a firm grip on the base of your dildo and/or harness.
- Use your other hand to grip the O-ring.
- While keeping that firm grip on the base of the dildo, try to gently wiggle the O-ring off the dildo. I usually find that it slides a little on one side then it slides a little on the other. I’ll go back and forth.
- Continue this until the O-ring is loose and you’re able to remove it easily.
- If you’re having a hard time getting a good grip on the O-ring, you might try to feed something between the base of the dildo and the O-ring. If your strap-on harness had buckle-in snaps, this may already be there, and you can use them as a gripping point. Anything else you can feed under the ring for a “gripping point” can be really helpful too.
If possible, I find it really helpful to leave the dildo within the harness. The harness offers a wider “gripping point” for my hands, tends to be less slippery than dildo materials, and tends to be hardier as well. I have yet to rip or hurt a strap-on harness after years of doing this.
If you’re really, really stuck, consider looking up suggestions for removing a stuck ring from a finger. Similar suggestions will work with your O-ring and dildo but ensure any option you use doesn’t harm the material of the dildo.
Remember, when removing a stuck O-ring from a dildo, your biggest concerns are:
- Tearing the material of the dildo. Just like a sexdollpartner, most strap-on dildos are softer. This means you can rip your dildo – especially if you’re manhandling it. If you have long nails, be especially careful while trying to remove your O-ring. It may be worth the extra frustration of adding some disposable gloves to your hands to help reduce the likelihood of piercing your dildo. If your partner doesn’t have long nails, make them do this part instead.
- Harming the dildo material with removal agents. Most strap-on dildos are not made out of solid metal. Especially if you have a squishier, softer, dual-density dildo, it may not respond well to the common “stuck object” suggestions like Windex or butter. Keep this in mind when choosing what to apply to your dildo.
In a worst-case scenario, especially if you’re getting frustrated, leave the O-ring on the dildo and revisit it later. You don’t want to leave the O-ring on the dildo permanently (as this can become a hard-to-clean bacteria breeding ground), but it can certainly stay on there for a few hours as you calm down and find a clear head. I can’t say I’m at my most patient for inconveniences right after I’ve had sex.
In all of my years of doing the bag trick for pegging, though, I’ve never once had an O-ring permanently stuck on a dildo. I’ve never even torn a dildo while removing a very snug O-ring. (Though one of my favorite dildos had a fingernail gash that led to its early retirement; that came from boiling it in a pot – not from anything that made a good story for tearing the darn thing.)
