The GreyGasms Sensual Massage Candle is a candle filled with massage oil wax. This wax, when melted, becomes massage oil that heats at a low temperature which allows you to pour lukewarm massage oil onto your partner. This massage candle is soy-based and paraben-free. The candle is about three inches wide and almost four inches tall.
The packaging for this massage oil candle is pretty basic. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box that displays the features of the candle on the outside of the packaging. The lid doesn’t really stay on too well once you open it, so be careful about turning it upside down, but if you want a box to store your candle that makes it less discreet (since a candle itself is pretty discreet but an adult-based box to store it isn’t as discreet), then the box will actually do a pretty good job. The candle itself does come in a nice, thick and pretty reusable glass jar, so if you want to take the time to clean out the massage oil, you could reuse it for something else.
It doesn’t take long to use the massage oil from the GreyGasms Sensual Massage Candle. After about fifteen to twenty minutes, you can use the oil from the massage oil candle. I definitely recommend blowing out the candle first to allow the massage oil to cool for a few seconds before pouring the massage oil out. Once the massage oil is poured, it feels lukewarm. As long as you pour from a few inches above the skin, it doesn’t burn, and it just feels nice and warm. Feel free to stick a finger in to test the heat of the massage oil before pouring it on your partner if you’re concerned.
I was a bit disappointed by the complete lack of scent provided by the GreyGasms Sensual Massage Candle. It really doesn’t give off any scent at all. The candle itself smells okay, but once it’s burning, there’s no scent to it at all. Even when I held the candle up to my nose. There’s a nice massage-oil-type scent to the dried massage oil on my hands, but that scent fades very quickly as well. Depending on your sensitivity to scents, though, the fact that this Sensual Massage Candle has no scent may be a good thing or it may be a bad thing.
As for how it works as a massage oil, I can’t say that I’m impressed, but it’s also not awful. Even when used as a massage oil, if you pour a little bit extra, the oil ends up hardening on the skin before you get the chance to rub it in. This isn’t a particularly bad thing if the clumps would break up easily when you got around to rubbing them in. Unfortunately, this isn’t quite how it works. The clumps don’t really “break down”, and you just end up rubbing unsexy clumps into the skin instead of the soft, smooth massage wax that I was expecting. So the first couple seconds works just fine, but if it’s there for more than a couple seconds, it’s going to harden and make the entire process a lot more awkward. It just doesn’t feel sexy to have the massage oil wax harden up on you and try to rub that in. And no matter what I’ve tried, I haven’t found a way around that.
As for how long this candle will last, I can’t give you too accurate of an estimation. The pictures show the candle after being used once. But as you can see, the candle doesn’t appear to melt very evenly either, so I have a feeling I’m going to end up with extra wax on the sides of the candle where the candle didn’t burn correctly, so I can’t really give you a very accurate estimation of how many uses you’re going to get out of this one. The awkward melting has been a problem, though, and the candle just looks even more melted in that one area than it did with just the one use. It doesn’t seem to be melting too evenly.
I also was a bit disappointed by the lack of a pour spout. The entire outer edge of the candle is a smooth surface, so it doesn’t smoothly pour the melted was like through a spout. Most massage oil candles are made with an easy-pour area to keep the mess of the massage oil to a minimum. Instead, with the GreyGasms Sensual Massage Candle, some of the oil ends up running down the side of the candle as you pour, and it’ll get on the pourer’s hands as well. If they choose to make more massage oil candles, I hope they add an easy-pour area.
It’s easy to rinse the massage oil, when it’s in oil form, off of your skin when you’re done. Unfortunately, because of the clumps, if the massage oil clumps back into a wax form, it basically is like trying to remove candle wax from your skin. It requires some scrubbing and picking at the wax to get it off of your skin. This makes for a messy clean-up after the fun of pouring the massage oil candle. Again, this would just be solved if the wax didn’t clump up so easily after it was poured. If the massage oil wax started off as a more creamy-type of wax (like most do), it’d even be easy to rub into the skin after it clumped. But as it doesn’t, it’s a pain to clean up.
Overall, the GreyGasms Sensual Massage Candle isn’t a massage oil candle I can recommend. It definitely looks pretty, and I love the sensual look of the candle. Unfortunately, the wax solidifies too quickly and clumps up much like regular wax – which makes for a difficult massaging experience. Along with that, pouring the candle wax can be messy because of the design of the candle. The GreyGasms Sensual Massage Candle isn’t an awful massage candle, but at the same time, there are better ones out there.
