TheTemp is a hollow glass dildo made by Temperature Play that makes temperature play much easier. The dildo has a diameter of about an inch and a half, and it is a pretty blue in color. The dildo also includes a stopper at the end of the sex toy to keep the water or other items inside of the toy for temperature sensations. The dildo is hollow, but it does appear to be made with at least an 1/8 thick sides of glass that seems to get more thick towards the shaft of the dildo.
TheTemp does not come in any particular packaging. As this sex toy comes from an independant toy maker, I did not expect it to. I purchased a pouch for the dildo to rest in, and it did come wrapped in plastic wrap to protect it during shipping. This temperature play glass dildo did also come with a page of instructions that tells you about the toy as well as how to chill the toy and contact information for the manufacturer.
The big draw for TheTemp is the idea of temperature play. As most glass dildo lovers know, the surface of glass can be warmed or cooled depending on what you are wanting to do with the dildo. TheTemp takes this one step further. It actually has made the inside of this glass sex toy hollow to be able to PUT your warm/cool items inside of the shaft for temperature play!
I’ve always worried about hollow glass. After all, all of the glass dildos that I’ve owned in the past have been non-hollow, and that seems to be what works for most glass companies, so I must admit that I was a bit concerned when I looked at the product. However, curiousity almost always wins for me, and I knew I could heavily test the dildo before putting it anywhere where it would harm me if it did break. I am surprisingly excited to be able to recommend TheTemp as it does not break under any of my tests (and sexual use!). I wouldn’t go all-out and be too rough with it, but despite attempt to snap it in half, giving my full grip around multiple parts of the dildo, and trying to hit it against my desk, it doesn’t show any signs of shattering easily under pressure. As I’ve sexually tested it now as well, it doesn’t break during sexual use, and while I wouldn’t try to squeeze it as strongly as possible, orgasm doesn’t seem to break it, so I’m not too worried about it. As always, test your own copy thoroughly before inserting it though, if you’re concerned.
There are a couple different ways that you can put the heat/ice into it. The way that the website recommends is that you get a partially-frozen bottle of water and pour the water into the inside of the dildo. Their website also makes mention of the idea of using water-bottle ice cubes (which are long and slender) on the inside. I would NOT, however, pour the water into the dildo then freeze it in the freezer. That could definitely harm the glass. If you want to use warmer items, you can just use warm tap water into the middle of the dildo.
The stopper works well to keep the water in. We haven’t had any issue with the water coming back out of the dildo once we’ve put the water in. I think this is because the stopper does have multiple little flexible plastic layers, and the layers seem to provide multiple layers of protection to keep the water from getting out. It doesn’t seem to be an issue. There’s a slight spot on the stopper where you can see the glue where the stopper was attached, but it doesn’t really effect the usage much, and you can only notice it when you look really closely.
The neat thing about this dildo is how the water will end up changing the balance of the temperature sex toy. Most sex toys that I’m used to are never hollow. This is just because that’s not usually how toys are made. All the toys I use NEVER have water in them, and as you know, water swishes when movement is applied. The neat thing is feeling how the water moving can differ the sensation of thrusting a bit. You can’t actually feel the water moving inside of the dildo, but you can definitely feel it pushing the dildo farther forward and backward in time with the thrusts when you’re using it. It’s actually a very, very interesting sensation.
During use, the shape itself is pretty basic. I think this is because you are supposed to focus on the sensation of the temperature. The dildo is a bit wider than most average glass dildos, but because of the width, it does make it easier to feel the sensation. During use, it just feel like an average dildo – but you can feel the sensation of the liquid inside of the toy. However, make sure that you use relatively cold or relatively warm liquid because only having them “slightly” one or the other makes it so it doesn’t really go through the glass walls of the dildo as well. The long, basic shape makes it so that you can focus quite a bit on the sensations of the actual toy which is fun. I do have to wonder if Temperature Play will come out with other designs of their toys though. A g-spot or a texture lover’s variety would be great.
Cleaning this glass sex toy is pretty simple. You just have to use warm water and anti-bacterial soap. Depending on what you put inside of the dildo, you might have to rinse out the inside as well as clean the outside. I just use warm water and antibacterial soap to clean the outside, and I swirl it in a bath of the two if I want to clean the inside. This dildo is compatible with all types of lubricants, and it should definitely be stored in a padded bag to prevent it from getting hurt.
Overall, I like the design of this dildo as well as the idea behind it. It doesn’t work as a dildo that will give you intense sensations (due to the lack of a texture or non-straight design) This is a very, very creative idea, and the glass holds up well enough for me to comfortably recommend it.
