Kinklab 25' Bondage Rope
Showing the packaging for the rope

The Kinklab 25 foot Bondage Rope is a large piece of nylon rope. It’s my first piece of nylon rope. The rope is available in both black and white and is only available in the twenty-five foot length. The ends of the rope are finished (it looks like they are burnt.) The rope comes in one large strand though you could easily cut it up into smaller pieces if that’s what you preferred.

The packaging for the rope is simple and resembles other KinkLab packaging. It comes in a plastic tube with rubber-esque lids on both sides of the tube. You have to remove the top lid to get at the product. The lid is a bit of a pain to remove and takes a lot of wiggling back and forth. This packaging would easily work for storage if you’d like though – it’s just a bit of a pain to take it out of the packaging. Along with the tube, there is a piece of paper that gives information about the rope.

I was a bit surprised by the scent of the rope. I found the scent of the rope, straight out of the package, to be downright disgusting, but the boyfriend claims it’s just the smell of glue that they used to make the rope. Either way, it went straight in a lingerie bag and into my washing machine to get rid of the horrid smell. The boyfriend claims it’s not that bad, but it really bothered me. It really was noticeable while still in the packaging, but after being taken out, the smell became a lot less noticeable. Either way, it wasn’t something I wanted to be smelling.

Twenty-five feet is a pretty decent amount of rope. This could easily do a hogtie to tie both the wrists and ankles together. You could easily use it to tie the wrists to a point or the ankles to an anchor point. If you have a very basic body harness on a relatively skinny person, this rope will work as well. It won’t work for anything very elaborate like some of the decorative bondage as well as large body harnesses. For most beginner rope work, though, twenty-five feet will end up being a pretty good amount. Unless you have a large rope project in mind, this piece of rope should basically work for anything you want to do.

The rope itself

The rope is pretty gentle. It has a slick texture to it. It would probably be pretty easy to give someone rope burn with this rope if you weren’t careful. My hemp feels a lot more scratchy than this, and the nylon is pretty soft. It’s just slick. I’d basically describe it as cotton rope with a layer of wax on the outside. Basically. But it is soft, pliable, and very easy to use. It can hold knots really nicely, and because it’s so slick, you can easily get the knots out without the rope getting tangled. However, since it is slick, sometimes the knots will easily slip out, so for some knots, you’ll need to double-tie them.

For cleaning, the rope can be tossed in a lingerie bag then put through the wash. It can harm the rope if done often, but for the most part, it’s safe to do it on a regular basis. Make sure to put the rope in a pillowcase or lingerie bag or it will get tangled up with the dryer. It should be washed between partners if a partner was unclothed. It can still keep other bacteria, so use your best judgment about diseases before sharing rope. For storage, I recommend you keep it coiled as it came or use another rope storage system. You can keep it in this original container or just keep it in a box or something. Rope is pretty versatile with storage. Lubricant and bodily fluids can easily be cleaned during washing and drying.

If rope bondage is an interest of yours, I’d recommend this as a beginner rope. I’d also recommend it if you just want to expand your rope collection. It really works well for basically anyone who wants to use rope – the only thing it doesn’t work well for is large rope pieces. Then the rope is too small. But for the majority of all rope tying, I’d highly recommend it – it’s a good piece of rope.
