Supersex for Life Book Review

Showing the cover of the book

Tracey Cox’s “Supersex For Life” book is a book intended to provide sex advice for those who are in a long-term relationship. It can be found at Madame M.’s. Most of the advice in this book seems directed at couples who have been together at least 5 or 6 years – some of the advice deals directly with being parents as well. The book is full color with a softcover front and is 191 pages long. The book is a bit on the bigger side – it will easily fit into most shelves though. It’s not THAT huge. (If you own any of Tracey Cox’s other Supersex books, it’s the same size.) The front of the cover shows a couple making out with the words “Supersex for Life”, and while the back cover is more safe, the inside is filled with tons of colored pictures, so this isn’t really safe for public reading. (It didn’t stop me from reading it at college classes though.)

Some of the inner pages

The one thing I seem to really love about Tracey Cox’s books (including this Supersex for Life) is the fact that they always include such gorgeous pictures. The pictures are always male/female couples who have model-like bodies. There is some racial diversity in the models used in this book, but they always look picture-perfect and nothing like the “average” couple. However, the pictures are always tasteful with only an occasion naked breast or butt (nothing crude.) The pictures are fun to look at and make this book look a lot more arousing and friendly than if there had been no pictures at all.

Another neat thing about this book is the format. It’s all printed on his photo paper, and the background of the text is either black or white with corresponding text. There are some off-points set off in another sexy color, and overall, the format just ends up look really sexy and really fun to read. It never seems like a “pain” to pick this book up. In fact, a lot of the book is set up in easy-to-read bullet lists or numbered lists that make it really simple to figure out what parts work best for you and your lifestyle.

Of course, one of the easiest things about reading Tracey Cox’s book is the writing style. She sets things up in an easy-to-read manner while not talking down to you. She lets you know her opinions while also giving the other side of the issue. In fact, there’s some good, fair discussion about affairs and what they do to a marriage (including how they can be good for a marriage) in this book. Very few books actually take the time to present a usually-unpopular viewpoint.

So what exactly does this book cover? Well, it’s basically a book written for couples who have been together long enough in the long-term that their sex has started to get a little boring (or they’ve started having no sex at all), and want a self-help book to help them get their sex life (and relationship) back on track. While Tracey recommends a therapist for some of the serious problems, for the most part, she says that most of the marital problems can be fixed by having a better sex life. In fact, in one of the more interesting things she proposes, she states that having sex when you aren’t really feeling like it is good for the relationship. It keeps your body wanting more sex and helps your partner feel more fulfilled.

The book is extremely easy to read, and it’s extremely easy to put some of these tips into use. Tracey isn’t recommending things like swinger clubs or kinky threesomes – she sticks with stuff every couple can do like improving their technique or helping your other partner want sex more often. She even says it’s natural to feel periods of no desire and periods of high desire – it fluctuates in every relationship. Basically, Tracey has made this guide very easy to read and very easy to put these suggestions into use.

Something else I appreciated about the book is how professional Tracey was about it. She presented a lot of facts about things like affairs, the average sex life, or how a relationship changes sex. In fact, she presented enough of these facts that I’m going to use this book as one of my main “sources” for a research paper about sexuality I have to give for a college class. There’s a lot of good information – both opinionated and factual – that will make you think twice about going “Everyone has a better sex life than we do!”

One of the neat lists of the book

Without going into too much detail, here’s what the book covers: Different sex temperaments and their pros and cons, the “average” sex life – not the Cosmo ideal, what things kill the lust in your marriage, excuses we use to not have sex and how to ignore them, tips to keep the kids from turning you into a sex-less couple, what to do if he/she isn’t up for it, five typical questions (I’m mad at him. Should I have sex?) Tracey gives an answer to, if an affair could save your marriage (and how), nine different ways to help fix your sex life, specific oral/manual/anal techniques for him and her to make sex better, easy ways to make your sex more exciting, and information about attending counseling to save your marriage.

This book will be most useful for those who have been together for a bit. While it will help you prepare for the future if you are a newly-together couple, most of the suggestions are intended to be practical and applied to help keep the marriage/relationship going. People interested in sex therapy/counseling would enjoy reading this to get a good idea of how to help a couple. Really, though, the book was intended for those in long-term relationships who want to keep the sex fresh and exciting, and that’s what it seems to work best for.

It’s easy to say that this was an amazing book – because it is. I have no reason to dislike it at all (aside from one time that Tracey recommended inserting chocolate into a woman. Talk about yeast infection!), and it’s a great book with practical suggestions about how to save your relationship or just make sure it never gets to the point where it needs saving. I can only hope I can be as helpful as this book if I become a sex therapist. This adult plaything store sells this comprehensive sex book, so if you are interested, read Supersex For Life.
