UPDATE JUNE 2020: The Liberator Stage is no longer in production. They offer a less-height version called the Center Stage – or a flippable version called the Flip Stage. But this particular, thick stage (which has become central to our board game nights when we used it as a stand-in table – in addition to sexual uses!) is no longer in production. This Liberator Stage review remains as a reference.

The Liberator Stage is a sex shape sold and manufactured by Liberator. It elevates you and your partner nine inches off the ground. While the design isn’t particularly inventive, it is amazing what nine inches can do for your sex positions!  The Stage is made with a microfiber cover like their other Liberator products and includes a water-resistant layer underneath the microfiber to keep all of your messy fun safe from the Stage’s foam.

The Stage does come in a very large box. The UPS man brought it into my apartment asked what I had in there. I told him it was just a present for my roommate. The box is completely unmarked, and inside the box, the Stage sits. The Stage is stored in a nice plastic wrapping around it that says “Love All Ways, Liberator”. It’s easy to rip the packaging apart and get to the Stage. It also comes with a small booklet full of pictures of other Liberator products in-use and gives you positioning ideas.

The Stage is made with the microfiber outer cover. This means that it’s extremely pleasing to the skin. I love touching it. It basically feels like velvet. Plus, every time we wash it, it just gets softer and softer. I can’t say that it’s a bad thing at all. When lying clothed on it, it still feels amazing. On bare skin, it feels like a luxurious silk blanket. Along with being extremely soft and sensual (and easy to grip and stay on), the microfiber will provide a no-slip surface with any other microfiber material. Considering that all of the Liberator products are made with microfiber, you can now build a large sexy jungle gym.

That microfiber cover easily zips off and can just be tossed in the washing machine to clean it up. Since there is a waterproof layer underneath that top layer, no messes will mess with the Liberator foam either, so your Stage stays really nice, even if you are really naughty.

When receiving the Stage, my biggest concern was whether this would hold my weight. My other Liberator pieces like the Wedge and the Ramp have always held my weight just fine, but I was still a bit worried.  I’m happy to report that, at my current weight, while the Stage does squish a bit, it basically remains the exact same shape under my 290 pounds. The Stage has no difficulty holding my weight, and while it does squish a bit more when adding the boyfriend’s weight, it still remains well off the ground (like going from 9 inches to 8), so it does its job well. It amazes me how strong the Liberator foam is on all of their products.

Laying on top of the Stage

I feel like you must be curious about how big in size the Stage is. I’m 5’7”, and I can comfortably curl up on my size on top of the Stage. Laying out flat, my knees and below will stick off of the Stage, but the rest of me will be supported. I can easily sit on this with my boyfriend or without. It will seat two larger adults or three skinnier adults when using it like a couch. (If you throw some pillows behind it, you really can use it like a couch.)

Along with being great for sex positions, the Stage also makes great “non-sex” furniture. You can lay on it if you have someone sleeping over (it’s so much more comfy than the hard floor.). If you have a lack of chairs, you can also take this as a “mini-couch” for your friends to sit on. It fits two or three seated adults comfortably. If you enjoy watching television away from your bed, you can also pull this out and get some nice cuddling done on it while the two of you watching TV. And since I dislike using desks, I like to sit on the floor and use the Stage as a desk while doing paperwork, bills, or homework. (As long as you put a book or flat surface down, it’s easily firm enough for that.) For anything that you could want elevated nine inches off the ground, the Stage comes to your rescue.

The Stage can be used for different sex positions. For one, it works great for those positions that require a girl-on-top position. For those, she can have her feet planted firmly on the ground for extra leverage and to keep her muscles from tiring out as well. This also elevates someone’s body when they lay flat, so you can easily do oral sex this way. For those women that enjoy from-behind positions, you can bend over the Stage to allow your partner to penetrate you.

The Stage is taller than my Oven. :)

You can always partner the Stage with some of the other Liberator Shapes out there. To improve your sex, you can stick a Ramp or Wedge on top of your stage and allow him to squat and thrust while she lays on top of the Stage and Ramp or Wedge. You can get the Black Label Stage Conversion Kit and add some kinky anchor points to allow you to tie your partner down onto the Stage and “force” them to endure whatever you have in store. When partnered with the Ramp, the Stage and Ramp can make a good “spanking” bench for those who are farther into BDSM – at half the price too.

Like I said, the Stage is extremely easy to wash. You just unzip the cover and toss it into the wash cycle. However, the only bad part about the Stage is that it is a bit harder to hide. It’s a couple feet taller than the Ramp, and even the Ramp is hard to hide. However, if you have a bed frame that provides storage under the bed, it can be slid under there. It also can be tossed into the back of a corner. You also can claim it’s to do Yoga on or something like that though I’m not sure someone would believe you.

My final opinion? I love my Stage. We’ve used it for quite a few sex positions, and while I intend on investing on the conversion kit soon, we’ve been currently using it for bondage by wrapping ties around the bottom of it. We both also love to lay on it, and I’ve done homework on it a couple times. It’s definitely a nice piece of sex furniture, and while it doesn’t have as many “obvious” uses as the Ramp or Wedge, it definitely has a lot of ways to be creative with it to improve your sex life.
