Liberator Escape Review

Liberator Escape
The Liberator Escape. For a size comparison, we placed a regular DVD on the corner.

UPDATE MAY 2021: The Liberator Escape is no longer in production. This review remains as a reference for this floor sex cushion. If you’re looking for something much smaller – but with bondage points attached, you might enjoy the look of the Liberator Bondi board – which is still available.

The Liberator Escape is a large, sex shape from Liberator. It comes in a multitude of colors, but I chose black. The outside covering is made from microfiber while the inside is supposed by a nice, soft giant piece of foam. The Regular-sized Escape (which we own) is 50″ by 72″. The King-sized Escape is 76″ by 72″.

The packaging was pretty basic. It came in a giant (I meant giant. Over four feet tall.) box that was unmarked in any way. The box was extremely light though. When I opened the box (the boyfriend pulled on the opposite end which made this much easier), there was a large “bag” that held the Escape inside. The bag could easily be opened by pulling it open. The Escape was folded into thirds inside of the packaging – much like a piece of paper in an envelope. There is no construction or work needed to “assemble” the Escape. It just pops open to a long sheet how it’s supposed to look.

Liberator Escape
Very discreet (but large) box.

The Escape was intended to help keep your body comfortable during sex that is done off the bed. For example, our kitchen and living room both have tile/rough carpet that makes having sex on them painful on my body. It’s just too rough and doesn’t provide enough support. This piece of sex furniture alleviates that problem because we just place it, and now it’s comfortable.

So why use this instead of a rug or just a soft carpet? Well, for one, you’d be hard-pressed to find a material that feels as luxurious as the microfiber of this sex shape. It pretty much feels like a soft, sexy velvet when you run your hands over it. It makes the entire act of being naked feel even more special and passionate. For another, this packs up and easily moves to another spot in the household without any sort of problem because it’s very light-weight. For three, we had this out when other guests were over, and they just thought it was a specialty rug – nobody assumed this was awkward in the slightest. And of course, for four, this is compatible with all other Liberator Shapes. The Microfiber clings to other pieces with Microfiber and prevents them from moving/sliding against each other. This means that this acts as “glue” between you and other shapes such as your Liberator Wedge, Liberator Ramp, or any other Liberator sex toys you own.

Liberator Escape
It comes folded up in thirds. This shows the outer packaging. “Love All Ways” versus “Love Always”. Get it? No? Well, that’s sad.

This means that you can attempt your doggy-style position while the Escape cushions the kneeling partner’s knees and the microfiber will keep the Wedge in place underneath the receiving partner’s hips during rough sex. The Escape will work as a soft surface for the entire body while the microfiber surface feels sexy and holds other Liberator products in place.

What sex positions are possible with this Liberator sex furniture piece? Anything you can imagine that is done somewhat lying done. Standing positions would pretty much render this useless. Unless you stood it up against the wall, but honestly, I don’t think it would hold too well that way. Woman On Top seemed a bit more pleasurable and comfortable because the soft fabric is much more comfortable than rough carpet for thrusting.

I have a really hard time justifying a purchase of sex furniture that is intended just for the use of sex. Because it’s usually so much more expensive (and space-consuming) than a sex toy, I want to make sure the item will apply well to non-sex settings and uses as well. When I was looking at this, I had lots of non-sexual intentions. I know our carpet is really hard and rough on my body to sit on for more than ten minutes. However, I love playing board games, and you’d be amazed at how difficult it is to play a boardgame while laying around in an armchair. So either we find a table to crowd up our apartment or make the floor more comfortable. The Escape solved that need. Now I can comfortably lay on the carpet and play video games, board games, or cuddle up with the boyfriend. (Couchs are nice, but they just don’t have the laying-out room that floors do.)

Liberator Escape
Showing how long it is. It’s the length of my futon.

Another use for this is as a guest mattress if you want a cheaper solution to purchasing a full-size mattress. I ended up taking a nap on this with a couple of pillows when guests were over. Not as amazing as a $400 mattress, but it definitely was much more comfortable than a sleeping bag – no pains or stiffness in my body afterwards. When I start doing yoga in a couple of weeks, I plan on using this as a Yoga mat as well. And unlike furniture, if you make a mess, you just peel off the cover and in the wash it goes.

We found that the Regular Size was a pretty good size for most people. The boyfriend was slightly taller than the mattress itself, but it was only when his six-foot frame was lying out flat on the sex position pillow. My plus-size frame fit perfectly onto the Escape without causing any sort of problems. The Regular-size really should work for most couples, (it’s basically the size of a twin-size bed mattress), but if you want extra room to lounge around with your partner, the King size does provide about an extra two feet.

Liberator Escape
Really small picture, but this is shows the length and width. It pretty much can act as a “rug” for most average sized rooms.

Something else worth mentioning is how squishy this is. It’s squishy – in a good way. You can definitely tell this is foam, and it’s the same foam used in all of their sex-help products, but because this foam is in such a small layer, it is a lot more flexible and giving. However, even with my plus-size, 300-pound frame, the mattress still gives lots of comfort and softness with the foam. It does squish under my weight, but it still provides the support it claims to do – even under weight.

Storage for something this big can be a little complicated. You want to have discreet sex toy storage, but it also has to be something that can be easily accessed for passionate sex. We choose to keep ours under our futon, and it easily slides in and out for easy storage. Because our futon is only half the width of a bed, it does stick out on a side, but if you have a regular bed frame, the Escape will easily hide underneath it and will slide out easily. Liberator also sells a carrying case that folds the Escape back into thirds and slips into a storage bag.

To clean the Liberator, you just unzip the zipper on the side and pull the cover off of the Escape. The cover of this sex pillow can just be slipped into the washing machine for easy washing. Because of the size, I recommend you put it in by itself or in with smaller pieces of laundry. Washing the cover actually makes it even more soft than it originally was. The cover takes about five minutes to get back on – as long as you’re patient, it’s not a problem.

To us, the Liberator Escape is pretty much a miracle. It works great for making our floor more comfortable – both for sexual activities and for everyday use. It’s made of a soft material, is very squishy, easily works well with other Liberator products, and now allows us to have sex whereever we’d like.
