Uberrime Jellyfish 2.0 Dildo Review

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2024: This dildo is no longer in production; it’s kinda sad to see it go the way of the Whipspider Rubberworks version that came before it. This sex toy review remains for anyone who is curious about it. While you’re here, why not check out some additional educational info – like online submissive tasks, beginner pegging positions, saran wrap bondage, and enema 101 info.

A Jellyfish sex toy for the ages! Inspired by the (now defunct) Whipspider Jellyfish, the Jellyfish 2.0 Silicone Glow-in-the-Dark Dildo by Uberrime is a beautiful green and purple silicone dildo crafted in the shape of a jellyfish. Sold by SheVibe, this handcrafted dildo has a total length of 6.5″, an insertable length of 5.5″, and a diameter of 1.91″ at the widest point (the head). The toy is entirely body-safe and waterproof, and the base was designed to be functional in a strap-on harness. The base does not have any extra special features such as a suction cup, bullet hole, or texture. It’s a flat base (though a beautiful flat base with the mixing that Uberrime does with their silicone at the base).

With minimal packaging, the Uberrime Jellyfish 2.0 dildo still make it to you safely but doesn’t mess around with extraneous stuff. The dildo comes packaged in a sealed plastic bag that needs to be ripped open in order to get at the dildo. This sealed plastic bag is sent to you within a black, satin-like drawstring bag that can be used for long-term storage. Honestly, though, every time I pull the dildo out of this bag, some black seams from the bag come out with it (the bag is clearly falling apart – even when new), so I plan on moving it to something less aggravating sometime soon. Inside of the satin-like bag, there’s also a hand-written thank you for purchasing the toy in addition to an FAQ sheet that tells you how to take care of your toy, how to warm it up, what the toy is made up of, and what lubricants to use. It’s one of the most thorough dildo instruction manuals I think I’ve ever seen.

I actually am someone who owns the old Whipspider Jellyfish dildo that this design was based on. If I could easily find the toy, I’d pull it out for comparison photos, but…..finding the toy. Sometimes, I think there are too many toys in this house for my own good. That being said, from what I remember of the Whipspider Jellyfish, this is a pretty close comparison. The colors of this new toy are much deeper and gem-toned, and the head of this dildo has a bit less texture. The two types of silicone feel a bit different, but honestly, in terms of getting a jellyfish dildo as close to the “Whipspider” classic, Uberrime has done a fantastic job.

Aside from comparison to its inspiration, the Jellyfish 2.0 Silicone Glow-in-the-Dark dildo has a pretty amazing design. The head of the dildo is entirely textureless – but extremely pronounced. Expect to feel the head of this dildo “popping” in every time it’s slid in. The texture of the dildo’s shaft is pretty noticeable too. Depending on how large your toys usually are, you might be able to feel the distinctive texture along the shaft. It does not have any balls.

In addition to just the physical design of the mold, the pour and silicone itself are just beautiful. The Uberrime Jellyfish 2.0 is made up of a myriad of different (and beautiful) colors. The head is crafted with a beautiful, sparkly blue that extends throughout the shaft too. Within the shaft, Uberrime mixed beautiful purple and aqua. Every inch of this dildo is a beautiful swirl of colors that I love – and that’s saying something with as many dildos as I own. It’s a fantastic color mixture for a “jellyfish dildo” – and it looks amazing.

We should also discuss the flexibility of this hand-crafted silicone dildo. This is not a particularly rigid dildo. Instead, it’s pretty flexible. The tip of the dildo can easily touch the base without too much resistance. The toy feels pretty plushy, and it’ll squeeze easily in your hands. This isn’t necessarily a problem, but with how easily the toy bends, you’ll want to pay special attention to where it’s pointed – and help it ‘guide’ in. Especially for strap-on anal use, we’ve found it too frustrating to use. When met with an orifice that offers some resistance, without some pretty intense “guiding”, the dildo tends to bend in on itself, and since I can’t see what I’m doing while pegging, this becomes a point of contention pretty quickly. It works fine for hand-use – and for vaginal use – but this has not be a good dildo for us for pegging use because of the flexibility of the toy.

As a sidenote, can I say how awesome I think it is that Uberrime chose to give credit to where the inspiration of the dildo came from? Even though the inspiration company is defunct and doesn’t make toys anymore. In an industry where design theft is rampant and people don’t seem to care, the fact that Uberrime put their energy (and words) into making sure people knew where the design was inspired from is amazing to me. I seriously respect them for that.

Now, aside from my awesome sappy stuff, when it comes to using this beautiful non-realistic silicone dildo, your love will depend on whether you like pronounced heads and what size of toy you usually use. Especially compared to a lot of our dildos, the Uberrime Jellyfish 2.0 is a bit on the slimmer side, width-wise. Aside from the head (which measures in at about 1.9″ in diameter), the dildo itself is about 1.5″ throughout the shaft. It’s not small – but it’s not particularly large either. If you regularly use gigantic toys, you might not be able to really “feel” or “enjoy” the texture on the shaft of the toy. When I use the dildo, it’s very noticeable during use. When my partner (who usually prefers big toys) uses it, he doesn’t really feel it at all.

Both of us love the feeling of the pronounced head, though. If you have a g-spot or p-spot that responds well to pronounced heads, this is about as pronounced as it gets. It’s about 0.5″ bigger in diameter than the shaft itself, and you pretty much notice every time it pops in or out. It’s designed to be noticed, and it does that pretty well. It can hit his p-spot, but as my g-spot is a bit deeper, it doesn’t hit mine. Looks beautiful in the process of doing it, though.

One last thing to touch on: harness use. Uberrime specifically crafted the base to be a little less dramatic in thickness at the base to help make it a bit more harness friendly. They’ve honestly accomplished that pretty well. You’ll still want to pick the proper O-ring size (we’ve found that a 2″ ring is a little wobbly while a 1.75″ ring is about perfect), or this little guy will fit fine into a Spareparts harness as well – just be careful with your fingernails when pulling the harness on with all of the texture on the toy. (The Bag Trick can be really helpful for getting it into a tight O-Ring!)

As mentioned above, we haven’t had too much good luck with using this toy anally while pegging in a harness, but your mileage may vary. If you do choose to use it anally for pegging purposes, I’d strongly suggest a position where you can easily see the dildo and use both hands to help it in.

As a random note, the Uberrime Jellyfish dildo is actually glow-in-the-dark. I don’t usually play with my sex toys under black light (except at play parties), so I haven’t gotten a chance to test this, but it’s something to be aware of for fun’s sake (or *really* accidentally standing out at your local dungeon).

Cleaning a solid piece of silicone like the Uberrime Jellyfish dildo is surprisingly simple in manner. In reality, it’ll take a little bit of extra attention to detail – but purely because of the intense texture found throughout the entire shaft of the dildo. This texture can be a bit of a hiding ground for bodily fluids, so when you clean the dildo, make sure you take the time to get it as thoroughly clean as possible. You can use warm water and anti-bacterial soap, and for something as detailed as this, I recommend a soft washcloth too. Alternatively, if you’re going for full safety and cleaning, you could boil this silicone jellyfish dildo in a pot of boiling water for a couple of minutes to sterilize it.

Overall, the Jellyfish 2.0 Silicone Glow-in-the-Dark Dildo by Uberrime is a lovely addition to your collection – especially if you love jellyfish, love pronounced heads, love texture, and the way the toy looks. The dildo isn’t particularly huge in size, and it’s made of very flexible silicone that might offer some collapsing with anal use.

But it also has a beautiful shaft texture, a lovely pronounced head, and honestly, it’s just a straight-up beautiful mix of silicone that looks amazing, sparkles, and makes me happy to look at it. While it feels pleasurable to use, aren’t looks important too? Thanks to SheVibe for providing this jellyfish dildo for my Jellyfish 2.0 Silicone Glow-in-the-Dark Dildo review.
