YouthAIDS Red Just in Case Review

Just In Case
The Just in Case in Red

The Just In Case in Red is a gorgeous compact make-up case that secretly hides condoms. It’s a square 2 and a half by two and a half inches, so it’s about the regular size of most make-up compacts. When looking at the Just In Case, it almost looks like there’s a case itself that is encased in the large, see-through plastic case. I don’t mind it at all, and it makes the Just in Case look more classy. The top of the case displays the Just in Case logo – two little circles that are meant to look like a make-up compact. When you open to the inside, the bottom-half of the case says “Just in Case”. Not horribly discreet honestly once you get into the inside.

Just In Case
It comes in this gorgeous little bag

The Just in Case came in a gorgeous, soft, red mesh bag that’s see-through when it was delivered for review from this adult sex store. It’s a drawstring bag, and if you choose not to store your Just in Case in this bag, it’ll easily fit something small like your bullets or at-home condoms. (I recommend against lube since this bag is porous and if the lubricant leaks, it will go outside of the bag.) Since the Just in Case in red supports AIDS research with every purchase, there’s a little booklet included with the condom case as well. It states that 5% off the profit from this case is going to go to AIDS and women’s health charities. No instructions are included with the Just In Case, but does it really need instructions?

The compact is shut by a little latch on the front, so to open it, you just hold the compact then pull up. The little latch will let go. Once open, there’s a mirror on the top-side of the compact while the bottom-side is the plain red with “Just in Case” etched into it. The case will only open to a 90 degree angle. My mirror also came completely spotless as well which was something I smiled about. Once you get the little case open, you can go back to the area where the latch is, and it will be obvious (only if you’re looking really) that there’s a little ledge along the front that will allow you to open the case. From there, the little plastic “door” will open. It’s a regular little plastic door that opens about 90 degrees, but will shut on you if you move it around too much. The door along looks like it would break off if there was an impact to it while it was open, but it doesn’t look like it would be hard to reattach. Inside of the secret compartment, the manufacturer included two Lifestyles Ultra Sensitive lubricated condoms just for your use. After you’ve grabbed what you need to, each little “door”, secret and regular, will shut with a satisfying click.

So how clean does it stay? Well, the mirror functions as a regular mirror and will show fingerprints if you stick your fingers all over it. However, I’m extremely happy to report that, despite my couple minutes of attempting to fingerprint the *life* out of this little case’s outside, they don’t show. It has something to do with the fact that the plastic is see-through and protecting the actual red part, but it looks like this gorgeous little case is going to continue to look absolutely gorgeous and brand new without much cleaning on your part. I’m sure the plastic case could be chipped or scratched, but fingerprints and fingernails don’t seem to affect it – just something more firm might.

So how much does the secret condom compartment fit? Well, it really only fits those two condoms comfortably. From my experience, it also seems to fit two of those “sample lube” packets, so if you knew you had a date that night, you could throw in one sample lube packet and one condom for a neat little evening. Aside from that, with the secret compartment being about 3/4 inch deep, it’s really up to you what you want to carry in here. Maybe you want to hide your nerd side and keep a jump drive in here. Or MAYBE you know you aren’t going to need condoms (due to a monogamous relationship/birth control) and you just store a couple twenties in here because if you get robbed, they won’t look in your make-up compact. The possibilities are endless. (Well, they end if it gets bigger than 3/4 inch.)

What I like most about this case is that it really gives you no excuse not to carry condoms. Some people might think it looks trashy to bring condoms out, but now those people won’t even know that you have condoms – and you will still be safe. I still haven’t figured out what’s trashy about safe sex, but this allows you the security and safety of having condoms without the hassle of trying to hide them in your wallet or purse.

The only thing I’m slightly concerned about is where you decide to store this condom case. Because it seems to be packed pretty tightly under lots of layers, if you keep this in the sunlight, I’m not sure what’s going to happen to the condoms from lots of heat exposure. I’m sure you know this, but if the condom doesn’t seem right, juts don’t use it. Find another condom or just forgo sex for the night. It’s not worth a pregnancy – as fun as it may be. I would like to say that I’d consider this much safer for condom storage than a car in the summer. Cars heat up waaay too much to make it comfortable for a condom’s existence. If you attempting to hide condoms from your parents, this will work instead of having fried condoms in the car. Completely random, but as a sidenote, both condoms I received don’t expire until 2011 – so they do check the condom expiration too which is nice.

So how do I feel about it? Downright excited. I’ve been waiting about three weeks for this package to get it, and it’s just because it had this case in it. And it lives completely up to my expectations and surpasses it as well. I’m in a monogamous relationship where we use condoms, but I plan on keeping this in my purse because I lack a make-up compact and because now I have an excuse to try and use these out and about when we normally would just use the ones at the house. This sex toy store graciously sent me this case to hide your condoms, so purchase the Just in Case in YouthAIDS Red. Check out their other Just in Case colors and the second generation of this great way to hide condoms. SexToy.com also carries a large selection of vibrators and sex toys.
