The Tantus Silk Silicone Large dildo, sold by TabuToys, is a basic dildo designed to work for beginners or those who just want a simple sensation. About seven inches long, the Silk Large is the largest of the dildos in the Tantus Silk line – there is also a Small and Medium. With no bullet hole in the base as well as a flared base to make it anal safe, the Tantus Silk Large is completely body-safe with its full silicone body.
The packaging for this silicone dildo is pretty standard for Tantus packaging. The dildo comes in a clear, see-through plastic box that clearly shows the purple sex toy through the packaging. The packaging is much larger than the dildo (and if I’m being honest, most Tantus boxes tend to tear or break for me pretty easily), so I wouldn’t use the box for storage of the dildo. A small plastic baggie should be large enough to store this toy and keep it away from fuzz.
The Tantus Silk Large is basically designed. It has no texture. The tip of the dildo is slightly larger than the base, but it’s not by much. The silicone is extremely flexible, and it can easily bend in half. The silicone that the Tantus Silk Large is made from is somewhat tacky, so it definitely helps if you add in some extra lubricant. For comfortable use, I definitely recommend some sort of external lubricant. The dildo has a slight curve to it, but due to the flexibility, the curve really doesn’t “hold” when inserted or played with, so keep that in mind.
The Silk comes with a flared base which makes it harness compatible as well. The base has been redesigned semi-recently by Tantus to make the dildo more harness-worthy. As it currently is, it makes a good harness dildo. The base is squishy, yet supportive, so it’s comfortable. When in a harness, the dildo doesnt droop either. The only issue with harness use of the Tantus Silk is the fact that you can’t “feel” your Silk. The Silk, as I’ll talk about later, is very flexible, so it can be hard to insert – especially in more awkward sex positions without help of both hands and some patience. This makes it a bit frustrating for harness use, but it is very comfortable to use, and it does have enough length to work okay as a penetrative dildo for another partner.
Until somebody makes something that can rival this, I will always consider the Tantus Silk line, and this dildo, be-far, best for anal play – especially if you’re a beginner or just aren’t used to anal toys. This is because these dildos are just so basic but graduating in size. When you first try anal, the small is perfect. When you’re regularly using the small, the Medium becomes a fantastic size. And when you’re ready for something that’s not quite as thick as an average penis, but is larger than the Medium, then the Large is perfect. It’s really a fantastic graduated system. With the flared bases, pretty flexible silicone, and textureless shaft, the Silks are just begging for anal use.
The only downside about using them anally is that the silicone is a bit TOO flexible. The dildos tend to bend and collaspe upon themselves instead of inserting. It does require two hands to really get the dildo to go in comfortably. If you have the ability to use both hands to get it in, though (and it takes a bit to get it in), it’s one of the best dildos that we’ve found for regular anal use – especially as a beginner.
As for vaginal use, you could definitely use the Tantus Silk vaginally. However, keep in mind that the dildo is pretty texture-less, and it’s really a pretty basic design in terms of design. It’s not very “large” compared to most vagina-intended dildos, so again, keep that in mind. However, for those who don’t like large dildos or those who just feel like having inserted at that point in time, the Tantus Silk dildo can easily be used vaginally for pleasure as well, but keep in mind that it’s very flexible, probably won’t hit the g-spot, and may be smaller than some other dildos you’re used to.
To clean this pure silicone dildo, you want to use warm water and antibacterial soap. If you really want to sterilize it, this dildo can be boiled as well. For storage, do make sure to keep it in some sort of baggie or away from hair or lint as the tacky material of the Silk Large dildo does pick up hair and lint extremely easily. As this dildo is made from silicone, I recommend only using a water-based lubricant in order to protect the material as best as possible.
Overall, the Tantus Silk line is one of the best lines for getting into anal play, and the Tantus Silk Large dildo is no different. The size is smaller than most average dildos but still the largest of the Silks, and it has no texture which makes it easier for insertion. The base is nice and sturdy, and while you might have to be a bit more thoughtful during insertion with it, it’s comfortable and easy to use with its plushy silicone.
