UPDATE MAY 2023: This vibrator is no longer in production. This review remains for anyone who is curious about it. While you’re here, why not check out some additional educational info – like online submissive tasks, beginner pegging positions, saran wrap bondage, and enema 101 info.

The Ripples Waterproof Mini Vibrator is a small vibrator that is about four inches long, made of plastic, and sold by Good Vibrations. It includes Velvet Cote finish plastic, and it comes with its own carrying case. It runs on one AA battery. It has a smooth ripple-type design throughout the entire shaft of the vibrator. The sex toy is waterproof and phthalate-free.

The packaging looks like traditional Doc Johnson packaging. The box is made from lightweight plastic, and inside the plastic box is a plastic tray that holds both the vibrator and the vibrator’s storage case. This toy is really unique because it does come with its own storage case. None of this is recyclable.

The storage case is also made of plastic. This case is really neat. It’s just a standard plastic case that has a top that opens. The top is also attached to the case, so you can’t separate the base of the vibrator’s case from the lid of the vibrator’s case. The lid of the storage case does not latch, though, so if you turn the case upside down, the sex toy would fall out. This is something to keep in mind for storage. There is also an optional plastic tray inside the storage case to keep the toy from moving around in the storage case, but it can be removed. I do wonder why Doc Johnson included this storage case, though. The toy is plastic and doesn’t pick up lint, so the storage case is not really mandatory. Regardless, though, I still liked that it came with a case; I just wish the case could latch in some way.

Something to note: this toy is not nearly as big as you might think it would be. Make sure that you are aware that this vibrator is only about four inches long; it’s about the size of the tip of my pointer finger to the base of my thumb when held up against my hand. Throughout the shaft, the toy has slight ripples along the shaft which gives it an interesting feeling while touching it. The plastic is also Doc Johnson’s Velvet Cote plastic which makes it very smooth and very silky-soft.

This small sex toy is controlled by a turn-dial base. This base is also what allows you to slip in the single AA battery. The turn-dial allows you to adjust from the softer vibrations to the stronger vibrations, and it’s effortless to turn. It also has some draggier-feeling silicone pieces on it which allows you to easily turn it while you have lubricated hands.

The vibrations in the Ripples Waterproof Mini Vibrator are on the softer side. On a scale from 1 to 10, I’d say that they are a 2. They are okay for teasing purposes, but most people will probably not be able to orgasm from them – especially if they are used to strong vibrators. However, the vibrator is really quiet – it’s hard to hear in the same room, and you definitely can not hear it outside of a closed door, so if the fun for you in using a vibrator is the naughtiness of using it rather than the strength of the vibrations, this may work wonders for you.

The vibrator next to a pen

This vibrator seems to definitely have been made with external use in mind. The toy can definitely be inserted, but as it’s about four inches in length, that doesn’t leave much length for actually controlling and holding the vibrator, so the best use that we’ve found is external use. The ripples on the shaft of the toy mean that it produces a really interesting sensation when dragged along the skin, and the Velvet Cote material means that it really doesn’t need an external lubricant when used externally either. Both pluses in my book!

The biggest problem with the Ripples Waterproof Mini Vibrator, though, is the vibration strength. The vibrations just don’t equal up to what I’d expect from a mostly-external vibrator. They are definitely just tease-worthy vibrations, and as long as you realize that when you purchase it, you’ll most likely be satisfied. Just don’t expect this small vibrator to work well for orgasms as it probably will not be powerful enough for most people to get there.

Cleaning this toy is easy as it is waterproof and plastic. You just need to use warm water and antibacterial soap. As the toy is really small, you can easily shove it into a condom for sterilized use with multiple partners, and it is compatible with all types of lubricant too. For storage, you can keep it in the storage case it comes in, but as it is a smooth plastic, you certainly don’t need to keep it in the case if you don’t want to.

Overall, the Ripples Vibrator is an okay vibrator if you only want something for teasing purposes. It won’t get you to orgasm, and it’s neat that it’s so small and quiet that it works for public situations too, but it won’t work as your “traditional” vibrator for orgasm. It is body-safe, though, and the case it comes with is neat. Thanks to Good Vibrations for providing this vibrator for my Ripples Waterproof Mini Vibrator review.
