The Precious Metal Jewels The Duchess vibrator is a rotating-shaft rabbit vibrator made by California Exotics. Available in three different colors, this rabbit vibrator is made from TPR material and plastic. It’s powered by three AAA batteries, and it’s completely waterproof. This purple rabbit vibrator features five different functions of rotation as well as five different functions of vibration.
The packaging for The Duchess rabbit vibrator is pretty typical of most California Exotics packaging. It comes in a clear, plastic box that clearly displays the vibrator from all angles. Inside the box, the vibrator sits in a plastic tray. Along with that, there’s a small piece of paper included with The Duchess that gives general instructions about using the vibrator as well as powering it. The packaging is pretty cute, and it’ll look nice for gift-giving. However, it isn’t made of too strong of plastic, so don’t expect it to hold up in the long-term for storage of this rabbit vibrator. It is not recyclable.
The design of The Duchess is pretty nice, but it looks like thought was put into it. The TPR material throughout the vibrator has some squish to it, but it’s mostly rigid which is good for internal types of stimulation. The clitoral arm will bend to about a perpendicular angle to the vibrator, but it doesn’t go much further than that. Along the shaft of the vibrator, you can clearly see there are quite a few different textures and shapes. There is a particular “bump” near the clitoral arm that stands out quite a bit (about 1/3 of an inch from the rest of the shaft). Along with this, the buttons are near the base of the vibrator, and the very base of this sex toy unscrews to reveal the battery compartment. It’s worth noting that the base of the Duchess vibrator actually has little grooves on it to make the plastic easier to handle with lubricated hands.
I must admit that I’m not too fond of the material that they chose to use for this vibrator. Maybe I’ve just become spoiled with silicone and plastic, but I don’t think I’m a huge fan of TPR material. The material feels a bit slick, and more like in a “this material feels weird” sort of way. However, if you’re used to using TPR-type toys, I’m pretty sure this one feels about average. Plus, it does have the positive of allowing the toy a see-through appearance which is a neat addition to this vibrator.
The Duchess vibrator uses three AAA batteries for operation. At the base of the vibrator, there’s a compartment lid that just twists off, and then there’s a battery tray that slides out. These three batteries slide right into this tray, and then they’ll happily go back into the vibrator with no issue. Switching out the batteries on this rabbit vibrator is simple, and when you aren’t using the vibrator, it’s easy just to slide out the battery tray to avoid harming the toy with stagnant batteries. So, win-win!
To control this vibrator, there are two buttons near the base of the toy. One of these buttons controls the vibrations of the clitoral aspect while the other of these buttons controls the rotations of the shaft. Each one of these aspects can be controlled separately from the other, and in order to turn off each one, you just have to hold down the button as well. The buttons, surprisingly, are actually somewhat difficult to press down. They push down okay, but they take some serious pressure to push down. I’m not sure if, with time, they’re going to become easier to press down or not, but right now, they take a lot more effort than I usually have to put forth in order to press down a button.
The vibrations on the Duchess vibrator are surprisingly powerful for the AAA battery usage. At the same time, though, they’re extremely surface-buzzy, and they don’t really get felt “under” the skin like many rumbly vibration-type vibrators can provide. It also depends on how you like to use your vibrator. If you prefer that fluttering sensation that tends to come with many rabbit vibrators, this one feels even more intense when you purely use the “fluttering”. If you prefer to apply any pressure, though, the vibrations become much more muted. I’d say that the vibrations, though, are definitely moderate, and at least half of the women who use this vibrator will be able to orgasm from the vibrations that the Duchess vibrator provides.
The rotations are actually relatively strong. They produce more “movement” than most types of rotating rabbit vibrators, and along with that, they also tend to stay rotating – even when vaginal muscles contract and get tighter. This is not something that tends to happen with a lot of rabbit vibrators, so it’s definitely a positive. This rabbit vibrator has five different rotation functions which mostly just change the direction that the shaft is rotating – it doesn’t really change the speed of the rotations all that much. The rotations are easily felt when rotating.
This rabbit vibrator has an odd “g arouser” spot on it. This is that odd spot on the top of the shaft that really protrudes. I’m not a huge fan of this. I think this spot’s enjoyability will really depend on your personal anatomy. For example, if you have a shallow g-spot, this spot might end up rubbing it as the shaft rotates. For me, though, with a deeper g-spot, the spot just ends up feeling a bit awkward during use, and I’m not particularly fond of it. Again, though, depending on your g-spot, this addition onto this rabbit vibrator may be exactly what works well for you.
Aside from that “g arouser” spot, I’m still not sure how I feel about the Duchess vibrator. On one hand, it has a strong enough shaft rotation that it actually continues to rotate when most vibrators lock up. On the other hand, it’s made of TPR material, and I really don’t like that. On another hand, I love the design of the shaft (minus the “g arouser” portion), but on the other hand, the clitoral vibrations aren’t strong enough. So, as a whole, this rabbit vibrator isn’t a good fit for me, but I think it isn’t a bad sex toy, and I think it could be a good vibrator for the right person.
Since this pink rabbit vibrator is waterproof, it’s pretty simple to clean. You just have to use warm water and antibacterial soap. Since this is a rabbit vibrator, it would be pretty hard to fully cover it enough for use with multiple partners safely, so you should consider this a one-person vibrator. It’s compatible with both water-based lubricant as well as silicone-based lubricant, so you can choose what you’d prefer to use. As for storage, I recommend keeping it in its own storage bag or at least getting a baggie for it as the TPR material of the vibrator tends to attract a lot of hair and lint.
Overall, the Duchess vibrator is interesting. It’s not a particularly good fit for me, but I can see it being a good fit for other people. It has a unique “g arouser” spot on the shaft, it has a shaft that actually rotates pretty nicely, and it has some strong, albeit buzzy, vibrations in the clitoral portion. Plus, the control system is easy to learn, and the entire toy just looks really pretty. If you think this particular sex toy would be a good fit for you, I think it’s worth checking out. Thanks to California Exotics for providing this pink rabbit vibrator for my Precious Metal Jewels The Duchess vibrator review.
