The Papaya Toys Tattoo is one of the four vibrators that Papaya Toys sells. The Tattoo comes in a purple, pink, a green color – you can pick your perfect color. The Tattoo is about eight and a half inches long, and it has a diameter of slightly over an inch and a half. The toy is made of 100% silicone, and it features a slightly bulbed head and tattoo designs on both sides of the toy. The Tattoo is waterproof and runs on two AA batteries.
I did a nicely directed (if I say so myself) overview of the Papaya Toys Tattoo vibrator that includes demonstrations of the controls, the waterproof functions, the flexibility, the size, and discussion about the features and packaging. Check it out on the Papaya Toys Tattoo vibrator review video.
The packaging for the Papaya Toys Tattoo vibrator is really fancy. The box itself is covered in a thin slipcover that shows the Papaya Toys logo and design. The box underneath the slipcover shares the same design. The box opens up from the front to reveal the vibrator sitting in a tray in the box. Along with the vibrator, there is a satin black bag that sits under the vibrator. This bag works wonderfully for storage, and it’s large enough to store the battery pack outside of the vibrator (for safety and longevity of the toy) while in the satin pouch. Along with this, the toy also includes an instruction manual (in color!) that talks about all of the features of the toy. This manual makes it easy to operate your toy.
The Papaya Toys Tattoo vibrator is a beautifully-designed sex toy. It is 100% pure silicone, and it is completely waterproof. The silicone does have a slight drag to it, so if you’re using it, you should definitely make sure to use external lubrication with it. The lower half of the toy is pretty stiff, but the silicone at the tip of the vibrator is much more flexible. It’s firm enough to stimulate you where you want it without being so firm that it will hit uncomfortably. On both sides of the toy, there is a tribal-like design that gives the Tattoo its name. The base of the toy shows the control panel which is made of a different type of silicone that appears to be more of a grippy silicone to make it easier to hold.
The battery pack has actually won awards, and I really like the design of it. The battery pack was made to be dark-proof, idiot-proof, and frustration proof. Inside the battery compartment (which is reached by unscrewing the base), there is a battery tray which easily slides out. The two AA batteries can be inserted on each side of the tray. Once in the tray, you can insert the tray either way – front first or butt-first, and the batteries will still work correctly! This is a life-saver when you’re fumbling to fix the batteries in the dark or if you usually confuse the batteries. The only downside is that, opposed to just meeting the two ends of the toy together and screwing, the Papaya Toys Tattoo does require that you push the two pieces together in order to really screw the compartment on tightly. Aside from that, though, it’s basically a god-send, and I can definitely see why they won awards for it.
Controlling the vibrations is a really unique system. There is, what looks like, a single button on the base of the vibrator. Instead of being a single button, though, it’s actually two different buttons – one on each side of the button. The left-hand side of the button turns on the vibrator. From there, you can click on the left-hand button to move through the three different speed settings. The setting is the steady one, the next is a pulsation setting, and the last is a short pulse then long pulse setting. While in each one of the settings, you can adjust the strength of the vibrator by holding down the left or right-hand button. When you hold the button down, it will either get stronger or weaker depending on which button you hold. Once you adjust the strength, you can easily switch to another pattern and the strength that you were on will stay. To turn off the toy, just single-pree down the right-hand button. It’s very, very simple to use, and once you get used to the controls, everything is very intuitive. The slanted control base makes it easy to control the buttons during use because it fits comfortably against your hand.
The vibrations are definitely quiet. It can be hard to hear the vibrations in my video unless I tap it up against a table. In real-life, it’s a bit louder but not by much. The vibrations, on the loudest, can be heard in the same room, but they can not be heard through a closed door. The vibrations are not the strongest out there, but they aren’t bad. They are certainly on the stronger side of moderate. They certainly are the stronger, rumbly type of vibrations. They should be enough for most women for orgasm, and while they don’t rival some of the plug-in models or strong, plastic toys, they still do an amazing job at going through the silicone material really nicely. Partnered with the easy-to-use controls, you’ll find that the Papaya Toys Tattoo is a vibrator that many women will reach for often.
The Papaya Toys Tattoo is waterproof. I’ve tried this out multiple times, and it’s even shown in my video as well. It submerges just find under water, and it will continue to vibrate. For those that enjoy toys in the shower and bath, rejoice! It also doesn’t seem to make the vibrations any weaker or louder, so it’s easy to use in the water – just like out of water. Just make sure you have closed the battery compartment all the way.
During use, I find that external use is best for the toy. The vibrations aren’t the strongest out there, but they are still strong enough for orgasm. The vibrations do seem to be focused towards the center of the shaft, but the vibrations do travel really nicely (and stay pretty strong) towards the tip of the vibrator. The tip of the vibrator does seem to be the best place to center the vibrator for clitoral use, but if you like vulvar stimulation, you can use the full length of the toy for extra stimulation. The toy is strong enough for orgasm, though, and while I’m not a huge fan of insertion with it, it definitely works as a good external vibrator.
Internally, you certainly want to have warmed-up to use this toy. It certainly does have a bit of a girth to it, and along with that, the silicone does have a bit of a “grip”, so you definitely want to use lubricant. It’s not one of the largest toys out there, but at the same time, the dragged silicone material and the larger size can make it seem larger. If you are one that likes moderately large dildo and insertable toys, this vibrator will do well for you. You definitely can feel the tattoo design during insertion, and while I’m not really sure it adds anything, it really doesn’t take anything “away” from the experience either. I personally like the Tattoo vibrator more when used externally, but if you larger insertable silicone toys, this may be perfect for you.
Cleaning this toy is really easy as it’s waterproof. You just have to use warm water and antibacterial soap. The toy can fit into a condom easily for easy clean-up or for sterilization between partners. It’s only compatible with water-based lubricant, and you can easily store this toy wherever you’d like. I’ve had absolutely no issue with lint or fuzz getting attracted to the silicone. It does pick up pieces of paper though, so um, don’t place it in a paper shredder, I guess. Aside from that, you can store it wherever you’d like.
Overall, I like the Tattoo Strawberry. I certainly was a bit surprised by the length and width of the toy when I first received it, so while it doesn’t work for insertion for me on a regular basis, the strength of the vibrator is still enough (and vibrates well throughout the entire toy) to work great for external stimulation. The design makes the sex toy look adorable, and I absolutely love that a small toy company (Papaya Toys) has manufacturered a body-safe toy that’s strong, has won awards, and comes in a ton of fun varieties. I hope that Papaya Toys can make the break into most retail stores and get some good sales on their new toy lines. Thanks to Papaya Toys for sending me this silicone vibrator for my Papaya Toys Tattoo Strawberry review.
