Designed for human puppy play, Paws for the Human Pup from MEO.de are padded, fisted hand puppy bondage mitts. Made from leather, these mitts make the fingers and hands unusable – and give the standard human hands into puppy-like functionality. The Padded Puppy Mitts are fastenable and adjustable by lace-up sides and a wrap-around Velcro wrist strap. The mitts are padded heavily at the meets-the-floor part of the puppy play mitts for comfortable moving while your puppy is on all fours.
Like all MEO.de items, the Paws for a Human Pup come in a plastic bag. This plastic bag is fully sealed and must be ripped open to get at the mitts inside of the bag. No further instructions or information are included. Though, to be fair, the mitts are pretty darn self-explanatory.
The Padded Puppy Mitts have a really fantastic design. These leather mitts offer multiple points of adjustment for a happy fit – and are crafted in a way that makes them fantastic for supporting body weight as well. First, the Puppy slips their hands into the mitts and makes a fist as they do. Then, the Puppy Owner can use the laces along the sides of the mitt to loosen or tighten the whole feeling of the Paws for a Human Pup as required. From there, the ends of the laces are actually wrapped together in a piece of Velcro material – which allows the ends of the laces to securely be fastened against the wrists (and ensuring it doesn’t come loose during play). Then there’s a long strand of durable leather (with Velcro on one side) that is wrapped around the wrists as the final step – securing the ends of the laces and pulling the Padded Puppy Mitts tightly against the wrists.
When it comes to getting the “proper fit” on various body types, the Puppy Mitts do a pretty good job with that as well. The lace-up side panels allow for some nice adjustment for various wrists sizes while the Velcro ensures a pretty snug fit regardless of wrist size. You might end up having a pretty tight “glove” fit if you have particularly large fists, though. My partner wears medical gloves size Large, though, and they were still a very comfortable fit. If you tend to wear XL or find that medical gloves are a tight fit, though, you’ll want to do some of that wearing in – or try undoing the laces pretty far and see how perfectly you can get these puppy bondage mitts to fit. Since the lacing goes nearly all the way down the mitt, you can get a pretty customized fit.
One of the most important things you need to know about the Padded Puppy Mitts is that these mitts – unlike a lot of bondage mitts – aren’t designed for flat-hand encasement. If you try to slide a flat hand into the mitts with fingers straight-out, the mitt doesn’t actually fasten around the wrist. These Padded Puppy Mitts are designed for the stereotypical “puppy stance” – which is your hands balled into fists. Yoga also uses that “fist” method for a lot of weight-bearing hands-on-floor motions. It’s generally considered one of the safer ways to put large amounts of weight onto the wrists and hands.
That being said, the Padded Puppy Mitts are just that: padded. Despite using the mitts to hold a decent amount of your upper-body weight, the mitts are actually pretty darn comfortable. My “Puppy” has crawled around in them for about an hour with zero complaints to finger or knuckle fatigue on your average carpet. I imagine their performance gets even better if you were using actual puppy play wrestling mats. The padding is nice and thick – to the point where it’s hard to feel individual “poking” if someone pokes the bottom of the mitt while you’re wearing it. That being said, you’ll probably want to let your hands out somewhat-regularly just to stretch out the fingers from being all curled up for so long. The Padded Puppy Mitts don’t allow for much internal wiggling or stretching while wearing them.
Escapability is another important thing to touch on. That is, the Padded Puppy Mitts are noticeably escapable if you have a mischievous puppy partner. It’s not simple to escape by any means, but since the main form of fastening is the Velcro wrist wrap around, even when both mitts are on, it’s impossible to “paw” at the Velcro long enough to get it to unfasten – especially if you’re a crafty puppy. The Velcro is pretty darn strong, though, and with the lace-up ties to reinforce the mitts, it’s definitely not an “easy to remove” situation. But it is possible. I’ve never had any issue with the Velcro slowly unfastening or coming undone, though, so if your puppy tells you that they didn’t do it, well, be suspicious of that little pup.
I thought I’d really mind the look of these mitts – with the puppy print being on the front instead of on the bottom – but I surprisingly don’t. I actually fell in love with how they look. Something about the stout design (because of the required-fist-use) makes them look extra “puppy paw” like, and it’s just a generally all-around good visual. While I was annoyed about the puppy print being on the front for awhile, I’ve definitely come around – and now I can enjoy the look of the cute embroidered puppy print even while my partner is walking around in them. (That being said, I’d still love to see the print on the bottom – though I imagine that would put a lot more wear-and-tear on the stitching like that). There’s definitely a very “helpless” visual that happens when someone is wearing these mitts, and honestly, it’s pretty hot.
As these mitts are made from leather, I’d recommend against taking them anywhere that’s too dirty – though if you’d be comfortable with your leather boots touching that surface, you can probably take the same rule of thumb with your Padded Puppy Mitts (though, again, remember that these mitts tend to touch things as your make-shift hands – which is not how people tend to treat their leather boots). As these Puppy Mitts are leather, though, your standard leather care can be used to take care of them – including no harsh, non-leather soaps. For storage, try not to squash them flat (I don’t think they really like that), and they’re otherwise pretty flexible.
Overall, the Padded Puppy Mitts are probably one of my favorite bondage items I’ve played with in a long time. The visual is adorable for me, and the mitts fit so comfortably – and go onto my partner’s hands so easily on my part. It really restricts any use of the hand at all, and it just looks plain cute.
