Curious about the latest Magic Wand release? Lemme show you all the good (and the bad!) in this Vibratex Magic Wand Waterproof review.

Joining the iconic Vibratex line, the new Magic Wand Waterproof is a full-sized 13.2″ with the brand’s “standard” 2.4″ head diameter. (This means your other Magic Wand attachments will also work on the head of the Waterproof).

Counterfeits are a real problem on Amazon and other marketplace sites. I reached out to IntiMD to verify that this Magic Wand Waterproof was legitimate before I purchased and they confirmed it is, as they (IntiMD/VWELL) are an authorized reseller of Magic Wand’s full line of products on Amazon and their VWELL website.

Like Vibratex’s other wands, the handle is plastic while the head of the massager is a nice, lightly-plushy silicone. The toy weighs about a pound and a half.

The Waterproof’s big claim to fame is its brand-new waterproof capabilities, providing IPX7 waterproof functionality. The Waterproof is rechargeable like some of their other wands, but a small blue charging port cover protects the charging port during wet play.

This protected internal battery takes 4 hours of charging to fully juice up, and that full battery will give you 2 and a half hours of potential playtime.

Like all Magic Wands, Vibratex “technically” states you shouldn’t use the wand for more than 20 minutes at a time. Most people ignore this, but it’s in the manual. Like all Magic Wands, the Waterproof is also equipped with an auto shut-off functionality that WILL shut the toy off for you if it detects the toy heating up to an unsafe degree. I’ve had it happen a few times with my Magic Wand toys over the years – usually while using the vibe under a blanket during summer months. It’ll turn back on just fine, later on, when the toy has cooled off.

In case you’re not a Vibratex Magic Wand (aka the Hitachi) nerd, this now means the Magic Wand line-up is six wand massagers deep. Here are the six wands and their stand-out features:

  • Magic Wand Original: Cheapest, plug in to use, most basic of the Magic Wands
  • Magic Wand Plus: Same power as the Original but with an upgraded silicone head, plug in to use, and a 3-button control panel that offers 4 vibration intensities instead of 2. Plug-in cable is removable for easier storage, but it must be plugged in to turn on the vibrator.
  • Magic Wand Rechargeable: Slightly less powerful than the Original or Plus, but it is rechargeable, and it does not need to be plugged in to use it. Has Plug and Play technology (more on that later).
  • Magic Wand Waterproof NEW! It’s waterproof! Slightly more powerful than the Rechargeable, but slightly less powerful than the Original or Plus. It’s rechargeable, but it’s also waterproof.
  • Magic Wand Mini: A smaller sized Magic Wand. It has (most of) the same features as the Rechargeable but with noticeably less power. It does not have Plug and Play technology.
  • Magic Wand Micro: Basically an adorable, gift-sized Magic Wand. It has the same features as the Mini but even smaller and with even less power. It’s adorable, and I’m glad I own it, but it’s definitely overpriced for the power it puts out.
The Magic Wand Waterproof is laying out flat.

Wait. What? It’s Waterproof?!

This latest Magic Wand release sees the Vibratex Magic Wand (you know, that iconic classic?) finding waterproof functionality.

It is fully submersible with an IPX7 waterproof rating.

This means that your Vibratex Magic Wand can now go into the shower or bath with you, and it makes for much, much easier cleaning. Every other Vibratex Magic Wand is not waterproof, and water in the wrong place can shove your wand massager into an early grave.

As a note, the only other power-heavy waterproof wand massager on the market, the Le Wand Dive, is IPX8 rated. That does make the Dive wand able to go deeper, and for longer, underwater than the new Waterproof Magic Wand.

IPX7 is what most sex toys are water-rated at, however. IPX7 means the Vibratex Magic Wand can hang out, underwater, in water up to 1 meter (3.3 feet) deep for up to 30 minutes without harming the sex toy. For almost everybody, that’s going to be more-than-enough waterproof functionality. Your bathtub only has so much depth, and with the power of the Magic Wand, you probably don’t require it for more than 30 minutes. ;)

If you want to play in a pool, hot tub (with the jets off), or enjoy some sort of teasing marathon session while in water, however, it’s worth noting that the Le Wand Dive is designed stay in depths of more than 1 meter (3.3 feet) for 30 minutes.

Neither wand is designed for pressurized water jets, so keep any of your waterproof toys away from the powerful Jacuzzi jets. IPX ratings are also tested in fresh water, so salt or chemicals (like in pools or the ocean) may change their efficacy.

Why Do I Care if the Magic Wand is Waterproof?

If you’re dealing with the older, non-waterproof Magic Wand massagers, any little bit of liquid, in the wrong spot, can accidentally send the vibrator to an early grave.

For some people, this isn’t a huge deal. You simply don’t let the wand get anywhere near water, and you’re good to go.

If the Magic Wand is your magic wand for ejaculation or squirting, though, this becomes a pretty big problem very quickly. It means a really good orgasm can (and does!) kill your vibrator. The Magic Wand’s powerful vibrations can be a really helpful tool in those powerful, squirting orgasms, but non-waterproof ones may not be able to handle the results.

That changes with the Magic Wand Waterproof. As the toy is designed for splashing and submersion, it can better handle whatever your body happens to throw at it. ;)

That makes the Magic Wand Waterproof a squirter’s perfect companion.

Powerful, waterproof wand massagers are very, very hard to find. There are only a few on the market now, and this Magic Wand is one of them.

If you’re not a squirter, the waterproof functionality still allows you to play with the vibrator in water (duh) and makes for much easier cleaning. You don’t have to be gentle with your vibe when bathing it after play. As long as the waterproof seal at the base is in place, you can easily clean and soap down the vibe without having to tiptoe around it. As someone who doesn’t squirt with wands but hates cleaning her sex toys afterwards, this is enough of a reason to get the Magic Wand Waterproof instead of its non-waterproof competitors.

Magic Wand Waterproof vs Magic Wand Rechargeable

I’m going to be honest. I really don’t notice too much of a power difference between the Magic Wand Waterproof and Magic Wand Rechargeable.

The Waterproof’s marketing says it’s technically a bit more powerful, but at a certain point, “overwhelming stimulation is overwhelming stimulation”, and my clit can’t necessarily tell a difference between the Waterproof and the Rechargeable version.

The Waterproof’s highest vibration setting sounds (literally. to my ears) slightly higher in intensity, but my parts can’t tell a difference. Both are “holy fuck strong oh god oh god” strong.

That highest intensity makes a perfect QUICK pit stop if you need it. If I’m struggling to orgasm, it’s pretty much a “it doesn’t matter if you want it or not. Here it comes!” level of power.

That being said, if I leave that highest setting on my body for too long, I do find that I have some temporary clitoral numbness. Nothing dangerous or concerning, but after being stimulated by a power tool, a little finger wiggle or bullet vibrator feels like, well, nothing.

So I’m pretty careful with how long I use that highest intensity if I hope to keep playing. If the plan is to utilize that highest intensity to orgasm and then be done, I’ll use it as long as I want. I don’t really care if I’m a bit desensitized for an hour afterwards. If I want pleasure (or an orgasm) and then to keep enjoying sexual fun, though, I’ll try to avoid those strongest settings because they’re just so strong.

(That’s not a bad thing. If you want power, the Magic Wand Waterproof has it in DROVES. Just with great power comes a bit of mental oversight to make sure you don’t wear yourself out for other stimulation shortly thereafter.)

As a much larger toy, it’s also worth noting that the Magic Wand Waterproof is much more powerful than the Magic Wand Mini and Magic Wand Micro.

The Magic Wand Original and Magic Wand Plus are more powerful than the Waterproof, but it isn’t honestly by much. On a scale to 100, I’d say it feels a bit like the Plus and Original are 100 power while the Waterproof feels somewhere in the 85 to 90 power range.

So, if we were to rank them for vibrational power on a scale of 100, from strongest to weakest, I’d say the full line looks like:

  • Magic Wand Original (100)
  • Magic Wand Plus (98)
  • Magic Wand Waterproof (90)
  • Magic Wand Rechargeable (88)
  • Magic Wand Mini (50)
  • Magic Wand Micro (25)

For me, personally, this makes the Magic Wand Waterproof the best of the Magic Wand range right now. You get:

  • Cord-free play, not having to worry about outlets
  • 4 steady vibration speeds (versus the 2 of the Original)
  • 4 vibration patterns, easily controlled by the 3-button control panel
  • Waterproof functionality for easy cleaning, water use, and squirting safety
  • The ability to use all of your full-sized Magic Wand-compatible wand massager attachments
  • “Technically”, you also get 700 more RPM than the standard Rechargeable version, but I’m not sure most people will notice in practice

Magic Wand Waterproof Review: No Plug and Play Technology

There’s one big caveat in my assumption that the new Waterproof wand now trumps all: the Magic Wand Waterproof does NOT have the Magic Wand Plug and Play technology.

The Magic Wand Rechargeable was pretty much the ONLY wand on the market that had this, and the Waterproof is NOT equipped with it.

As you know, a rechargeable vibrator needs to be charged up to work. Like any battery that requires charging, there’s a finite level of “juice” inside the battery. If you go too long or forget to charge it before playing, your vibrator might run out of juice mid-play.

For 99.9% of vibrators, that means you’re done. You have to put the sex toy on the charger, and you have to wait for it to recharge to use it again. The toy will not function on the charger.

The Magic Wand Rechargeable was in 0.1% of vibrators. Their “Plug and Play” Technology allowed you to plug in the vibrator, and the charging cable would temporarily function as a power cable.

This let you continue to play with your sex toy as long as you kept it plugged into the charging/power cable. When you were done using it, you’d simply turn off the toy, and the charging/power cable would begin to charge the wand.

The Magic Wand Waterproof does not have this functionality. It functions like every other rechargeable vibrator on the market. If your toy runs out of juice, you have to wait until it’s recharged to use it again.

This may not be a dealbreaker for you, but if you regularly use the Plug and Play Technology or see yourself doing so, the Waterproof “upgrade” may not be an upgrade for you.

IntiMD Magic Wand Waterproof Trigger Pin Point Attachment

Providing an additional way to enjoy yourself, your Magic Wand bundle from IntiMD includes an Active Trigger Pin Point Massager. No photos or information are included of this attachment in any of the marketing, and that’s probably because it’s just an old-school pocket rocket.

Like, really old school. I don’t see these Pocket Rockets sold in most retailers anymore.

It’s a pretty cool blast from the past as I haven’t seen nor handled a Pocket Rocket-style vibrator since I started in the sex toy industry.

My Active Trigger Pin Point Massager is a blue Pocket Rocket that includes 4 different heads. (I’m unsure if they come in a color variety, so yours may not be blue.) The vibrator is made entirely from plastic, and it’s battery-operated. It requires a single AA battery (not included) to turn on, and it has a single speed of vibration.

Compared to the Magic Wand Waterproof, it’s nothing to write home about (or even bother writing about, honestly). If you get this IntiMD vibrator kit, it’s definitely for the Magic Wand Waterproof itself.

If you choose to utilize the Trigger Pin Point Attachment, though, it’s very small, has the single speed of pretty soft vibrations, and is about the length of a single finger.

Honestly, my favorite use for this has been to put the spiked attachment on the tip (which is, literally, plastic spikes on top of an attachment tip. It’s as painful as it sounds), and use it as a kinky punishment toy for my submissive. It’s fun to let him think it’ll be a nice, pleasant vibrating toy until – BAM! I use the tip and apply pressure, shoving the spikes in his flesh. ;)

Vibratex Magic Wand Waterproof Review: Let’s Talk Pleasure

I’m gonna be honest here: this is a Magic Wand. Vibratex is known for quality products and powerful vibrations.

That’s exactly what the Magic Wand Waterproof provides. No hidden catch. No second-guessing. It’s just powerful AF, decently loud, and pretty large. And now, it’s also waterproof, for easier cleaning and people who get a bit messy during their play.

This is exactly what you expect with a wand massager though – especially one from the Vibratex line. You don’t pick up a Magic Wand hoping for something diminutive, soft, and easy to hide.

The Magic Wand provides ridiculously powerful vibrations crafted to “force” you to orgasm whether you really want to or not. To get those vibrations, you agree to a certain level of noise and a certain size of vibrator. 13.2″ long, there just simply has to be somewhere for Vibratex to “house” that powerful vibration motor. It’s why a 3 inch toy will simply never compete in power.

Despite having that ridiculous level of power, Vibratex did a fantastic job on the design: I feel virtually none of the vibrations in the handle. I forget how rare that is in wand massagers until I pick up a Vibratex toy. With the popularity of wand massagers, there are a LOT of wands out there now. Most don’t understand that part of the appeal of a wand vibrator is that the handle offers a vibration-free surface.

Vibratex understands it in spades, and I feel virtually none of the Magic Wand Waterproof’s vibrations in my hand. On the highest setting, I think I can feel the vibrations in my freakin’ spleen, but I don’t feel any on my hands on the handle.

The noise level is, well, not quiet, but again, you expect that with a toy that’s 13.2″ long and known for powerful vibrations. It can easily be heard in the same room, and it can probably be heard in a different room with a door closed. (It depends on how loud you have your music or TV playing.) This is NOT a vibrator for discretion – though it’s not distractingly loud or aggravatingly noisy. It’s just a pretty loud, constant “hum” that’s difficult to hide but easy to ignore if you’re the one using it.

It’s constant enough that you can just turn up your porn a bit louder and you’ll barely notice it. It’s just loud enough that someone else walking around your house would come investigate the odd noise.

A Final Note on Those Waterproof Capabilities

The Magic Wand Waterproof appears to be made waterproof through a charging port cover at the base of the wand. This little silicone-esque (might be rubber?) blue plug covers up the charging port. Remove this blue plug, and you expose the charging port.

This little blue silicone-esque plug is NOT connected to the Waterproof wand in any manner. It’s a free-standing piece. When you take it off the wand to charge it, DO NOT LOSE IT. There is no replacement, and this is the only thing keeping your wand massager waterproof.

I’m not super fond of this design. Most other wands with a “charger cap” like this fasten it onto the wand in some manner. While the Magic Wand’s cover is much larger than a standard toy’s, it’s still entirely separate, and it can be lost.

A close-up on the base of the Magic Wand Waterproof. The "waterproof" cap is removed, showcasing how it fully removes from the base of the wand. For my Magic Wand Waterproof review.

I’m not sure if Vibratex will eventually sell these little pieces as purchasable accessories (like they do for their chargers). If they don’t, losing that piece will lose the waterproof capabilities, and you’ll need to purchase a whole new wand to reaccess that functionality. So, uh, don’t lose it.

I’m also a little wary of this design for submerged use. I trust it wholeheartedly for easy cleaning, squirting, or the occasional splash. This blue charging port cover is snugly wedged in there. That covers what I’d primarily want waterproof coverage for. I don’t want to kill my expensive toy by an errant splash during cleaning or squirting.

A close-up on the base of the Magic Wand Waterproof. The "waterproof" cap is plugged into its charging port, showcasing how it fully removes from the base of the wand. For my Magic Wand Waterproof review.

But I’m not sure I’d trust it for long-term submersion in tubs of water. The fact that it’s just a little piece of rubber preventing a multi-hundred dollar toy from ruin scares me. I’ve held the massager underneath the water in the bath multiple times for this Vibratex Magic Wand Waterproof review, and it’s still working fine. I just worry about the day I don’t entirely get the blue charging port cover in place before relaxing for an hour in the tub with it.

The charging port seems to work, but I honestly don’t trust it to provide coverage for its “full” marketed limits.

If I was going to play with a wand INSIDE the water of a tub of water, jacuzzi, or hot tub, I’d probably pick a cheaper waterproof wand (so I wouldn’t be sad if it accidentally died) or the Le Wand Dive (with its IPX8 waterproof rating).

Summary

You should be aware of a few things before you pick up the Waterproof. The Waterproof version, unlike the Magic Wand Rechargeable, does not have Plug and Play technology. If you often kill your rechargeable toy’s battery, you MIGHT prefer the Rechargeable version instead.

Especially for those of us with a streak of forgetfulness, it’s also worth noting that the blue charging port cover is entirely unattached from the wand itself. Make sure you keep track of that little blue piece, or your wand will lose its waterproof capabilities.

If you’re okay doing without Plug and Play and think you can keep track of that charging port cover, though, the Vibratex Magic Wand Waterproof is now my most recommended wand from the Vibratex line. Not only does it have the same power as the Rechargeable, but it provides easier cleaning AND peace of mind for those whose play might get a little….wet.

It does all that with easy-to-use buttons that have you playing in seconds, powerful vibrations that are the gold standard every other company shoots for, and with a surprisingly well-designed handle that transfers virtually no vibrations. The highest vibration intensities are enough to shut down my nervous system entirely, and it does it all with a rechargeable design that means you don’t have to worry about cables.

It’s an A+ wand massager. An A++++ wand massager, really, and an impressive addition to the Vibratex wand massager line-up.
