The Lovers Tower game is a game produced by Pipedream Toys. It’s just like a regular game of Jenga, but instead of just doing the regular Jenga game, when you pull out the blocks, each block has a truth or dare question written on it. The truth questions are white while the dare questions are red. All of the blocks, instead of the regular wood of Jenga, are made from a nice, light plastic, so this entire board game is actually much lighter than the wooden alternative. There are 42 blocks in total – 21 white and 21 red.
The box is actually very tasteful. It works exactly like a regular Jenga box would work. It’s a white background and shows the game on the front. On each side, it gives an example of a truth and a dare with some cartoon-like characters animating what is shown on the example. Once you take out the pieces itself, they come with a two-sided piece of the box. Once the tower is constructed, you push the tower up against the two sides of the half-box, and it makes the tower look really nice and straight-out-of-the-box.
One game for us, when we tried it, really took only less than five minutes. We apparently suck at pulling out blocks and not destroying the tower. This means that we honestly didn’t pull out many of the blocks at all. In fact, really, half of the fun of the game itself with these short times was actually trying not to pull over the tower – not the truth or dare aspect. However, the truth or dare aspect actually added quite a bit to the game. We found ourselves waiting to pull out blocks just to see what question the game would suggest. My friends suggested that being drunk for the game would probably make it much more enjoyable just because it’d be harder to play and inhibitions would be down as well.
We did find a lot of replay ability in the game though. It actually was pretty fun to rebuild the tower and wonder what block you were going to get next. A big problem that we seemed to have is that we always seemed to draw the same blocks. It was kinda odd actually. Out of all 42 blocks, I think we pretty much stuck to the same 15. Odds seemed to be against us. However, with more uses, I’m sure we would have started to just find other blocks.
This game is something that should probably be played in a group setting with friends you are comfortable with or at a drunken party gathering. For example, the group of friends we played with is in the kink group with us, so we’re all comfortable talking about our sexuality. However, we chose to ignore the blocks that told us to get naked because we were honestly just being too lazy. However, in a party setting or a swinger setting, this may be exactly what you’d like to encourage some sharing between partners.
Now for the fun part: Some examples of the truth and dares of the game. I won’t spoil too much of the fun though.
The truths are all just easy questions that can be answered by most everyone. Some of the questions can be answered within seconds while some of the other questions will require telling a story. Some of them are more personal while others aren’t so personal. Some examples include: “Tell us about the most embarrassing moment of your life.”, “Do you own any XXX movies?”, “Do you prefer sex in the morning, noon, or evening?”. Even though they are all questions, some of the blocks do include a “If you answer yes, take off a piece of clothing” in a “Never have I ever” style. For example, the XXX example question from above included that. As I said, we chose to ignore those parts of the questions, but if it’s something you’d like, it’d be a neat addition to the game.
The dare questions really are of a large variety. Some include taking off clothing while others include doing embarrassing things or interacting with other players. For example, “Have the player to your right sit on your lap until your next turn”, “Trade an article of clothing with the player to your left”, “Use a prop to demonstrate a blowjob for thirty seconds.” There really isn’t much to say about these dares. They usually are pretty amusingly creative and make for keeping the game fun and sexual.
Overall, it’s a neat version of Jenga. It allows for adults to play Jenga, relive their childhood game, in a way that’s adult appropriate and fun for swingers, close friends, or just drunken fun. The game can be modified to make it as exposing or as secretive as you’d like – it’s all about what you want to do. I’d definitely recommend it.
